Why are we still in salary cap hell?

Based on current numbers, without restructured, we are right up against the cap. Whereas many other teams are wrll under it. While I know we can restructure and release, I still consider it salary cap hell because we cannot make a big signing without a lot of machinations.

The machinations are how we handle the cap. Other teams do it other ways.

Well, how is it advantaheous when the team indicates that they will not have the money to bring in a significant free agency upgrade? Not even one? That doesn't really add up, does it?
It has been demonstrated numerous times in multiple threads how the Cowboys could create upwards of 50 million in cap space by flipping a switches. The Cowboys won't have money to pay for big FAs because they don't want to have big money for FAs.

If they can do "whatever they want" with the cap, why is it a virtual guarantee that Ron Leary is leaving?

The 'facts' don't add up.

Leary can play at a high level. If we let him walk it will not be because of performance. Would you rather have Leary, or Tyrone Crawford? Their contracts should be in the same general value. I personally prefer Leary.

The fact we are having to pick and choose is an indication we don't have a ton of cap space like some on here want to say we do.

Yes they want to save all that cap space to win the cap space championship. Get real here, my friend. They aren't in cap hell but they are NOT in good shape relative to the cap either.

If I remember correctly, we have a lot of cap ties up in the upper tier players but have a defiance in numbers of players under contract.

Because Chanpionships are won by "big signings?" in free agency?
Which big signings did the two teams who played yesterday make?

We can easily afford Leary........it is a question of asset allocation, not cap space

Collins for 700k or Leary for 6-8m for same production

Sure thing.

Now it's the "same production".

As I've said, some fans will tell themselves anything.

Because of the breakdown on spending for offense and defense as opposed to the total cap. With the contract for 72 coming up you are going to be spending over $60m on the OL if you sign Leary to what his market deal is likely to be given that 72 will deserve to be a top paid OG. Leary is going to demand $10m.

You cannot have a third of your cap in one position group. As it is without Romo we are still spending 3 times as much on offense as we do on defense.

Especially when you're overpaying players on bad contracts.

I don't want to hear about a team that can "do whatever they want" while watching that team stand by and watch as quality free agents walk out the door. There is no cap on paying good players when you have them. But when you're wasting it on guys who aren't worth what they're getting paid, you don't have enough to "do whatever you want".

Leary and it's not even close. Contracts like Crawford are part of the reason why they 'can't afford' to keep Leary. When money is wasted in one area, it's not available for another, even if that player is actually worth it.

The fact we are having to pick and choose is an indication we don't have a ton of cap space like some on here want to say we do.

Exactly. Their 'math' doesn't add up to reality.

So evidence has been provided and you still stick to your guns? Let someone else teach you. I have better things to do with my time then break it down again, just for you to say the same thing. Peace.

that is a joke and you know it .........Collins beat him out twice

Sure he did. And that's why the line got better when Leary stepped back in. You can tell yourself whatever you need to in order to try to excuse this.

Just spare the rest of us the nonsense.

I wouldn't say we are in salary cap hell, more like salary cap heck. Going into 2017, I believe the Cowboys are ranked second to last in available money. Cap hell no, but cap management when compared to the rest of the NFL it's not good.

Get it through yours, Crawford is a huge, overpaid, mistake that continues to haunt this team.
And that's why the Cowboys can't keep Leary.

And who's missed more time and been less effective? Crawford with his Achilles, and two shoulder surgeries or Leary and his "expolsive knees"?

Outside of you, everybody knows the truth.
