Why are we still in salary cap hell?

I hear ya. But I keep going back to the fact that we are in a unique position, much like Seattle was when Russell Wilson was on his rookie contract, of having a franchise QB (and a franchise RB) on an exceedingly cheap rookie contract. We should be taking a swing within this 3 to 4-year window and signing guys like Suh. We are not going to consistently find defensive difference-makers picking at #28 in the draft. Especially not ones that are going to be difference-makers as pass rushers or cover corners in their rookie year. I just don't know if our salary cap position allows us to be big players, even if we wanted to.
WE are not yet in this unique situation.

Nothing you say is correct........Crawford has NOTHING to do with Leary

He is your boogeyman and its quite boring

Oh please, it's has everything to do with it. It's all a part of the same cap.

I'd think a self-professed 'expert' would know that.

But you keep wasting everybody's time trying to justify that huge contract for a guy who doesn't even have a true starting role on this team, while quality proven starters like Leary walk out the door.

I'm with ya on that line of thinking, brother, but there's no Avril or Bennett (or even that turd of a Suh) on the FA market this year. Unfortunately, the opportunity isn't lining it's self up with available talent for us this season. But I don't hate your line of thinking, bro. That's for sure.

Leary can't play DT. There's a reasonable expectation that Collins can replace his production on the OL for less money. Collins has a lot of ability. Some think he has enough ability to play tackle at a high level. Just because Leary outplayed him this season doesn't mean Collins won't continue to improve. He's definitely got more upside than Leary.

As has been said multiple times, Dallas isn't paying four guys on the OL top money. If they were to go big money at a fourth position it would probably be RT.
There are just too many positions on defense (and WR) that could use an upgrade.

"32 games?"

Where'd you come up with that number? Was that next to the "Cowboys can do whatever they want" numbers?
If you think TCrawford is a problem on the field or off you have zero football acumen

I'll repeat it since you're trying to divert now from what you claimed to be true.

Where has Ron Leary missed 32 games?

Because Chanpionships are won by "big signings?" in free agency?
Which big signings did the two teams who played yesterday make?
Alex Mack (could be argued as the best FA signing of all last season) and Marty B (was clutch at times in the season and was DEFINITELY clutch last night).

But, I agree with your overall premise. I'm not big on overspending in FA either. However, if you make the RIGHT signings it can make a difference. Unfortunately more of those deals blow up in teams' faces than they do write chapters of overall team success.

For the lack of recent big free agent acquisitions, how is it that we still have no money to spend in free agency? Is it just the Romo, T smith, and Dez contracts? Anyone know?
Relax, good lad.
Every team is in some sort of sc fix.
Every team finds ways to stay competitive. And almost every year, like a creditor who wants to keep us spending, the NFL raises the salary cap.:)
Yes, Romo is a big part of our woes. But other players have raked it in, too.
I just hope our GM has learned a lesson about throwing so much guaranteed cash around.

Bennett was acquired in a trade. He wasn't a free-agent signing.

Why does the NFL keep the salary cap and contracts intentionally confusing to fans? This is a big market they're missing by making the offseason a muddled mess

He missed 16 games in 2012 because he wasn't good enough.......I gave him the benefit of the doubt it was because of injury and not lack of talent....if he was healthy then it is 19 to 16 Crawford.......wow what a difference

As expected. You lied about these numbers too.

Got it.

Crawford is overpaid. But we certainly could keep Leary if we wanted to. It's just not a priority.

Why is that?

Why would retaining one of your top parts of the best line in football "not a priority"?

If that's the case, somebody's priorities are screwed up.

That claim simply doesn't add up.
