Why aren’t many talking about the D?

What's stupid is thinking that the performance by the offense has no effect on the defense.

Turnovers and 3-and-outs significantly harm the defense.

Because the offense was so atrocious in the previous 2 matchups with SF (while the defense played well). Dallas stopped SF two drives in a row after the opening score, then the offense turned the ball over in SF redzone. The defense took the ball away from McCaffrey. Then the offense went 2 yards in 3 plays and punted AGAIN from deep in their endzone. Four drives about 3:30 in time: ZERO first downs, ZERO points, ZERO complimentary football AGAIN vs this same team. The defense does not get a huge pass, BUT if Dak and the offense cannot get anything going vs SF-there is zero reason to keep Dak on the team (and there are questions about the direction of the team and ultimate objectives of the squad moving forward).

You cannot win if either performs this bad.

The coaching staff developed a scheme around a dominate defense this season. With the defense struggling, they now have no choice, but to alter their attack. Ball control is still very important, but they cannot play so conservative any longer, must take some chances to be able to score more points to assist their defense. Their plan must change now!

Oh I'm pretty sure I just said that I'm agreeing that there's more to this playbook than what we're seeing and they're gonna have to dig back to the back of the book where they buried Kellen Moore's offense and bring some of it back...

He also wants to omit the fact that our defense got rolled over by a backup quarterback in Arizona I mean they keep making excuses for them but we played one of the top defenses in the league and one of the top coaches in the league yes our offense struggled they couldn't get anybody open I mean they they want to blame Prescott for not having anywhere to throw until he decided to hook it up at the end of the game when it was already decided I don't understand why they don't see that yeah if you wanna say the offense is bad and point to the coach I can get on the same page you wanna point to the receivers not getting open I can get on the same page if you wanna point the fact that Tony Pollard is not effective in this type of offense as the number one guy and he fumbled the football I could get on that page if you wanna get on the offensive line for not being on the block as well even with a four man front most games that way they could play more coverage on the back end I can get on the same page with that but that's not what they're saying they're trying to just say Prescott is not good enough and he can't run this offense and it's his problem they hardly mention anybody else except for Prescott and Mike McCarthy which was the same narrative all offseason about them being on the hot seat

but a lot more has gone bad in Arizona they were missing 3 Pro Bowl offensive lineman and yet we still couldn't get open we had a bunch of penalties the defense committed most of the penalties in this last game but why is he glossing over that talking about all the stops?/ when you're taking 15 yard penalties you have mental mistakes you're jumping off sides very much like they did in the first game against the 49ers two years ago in the playoffs 14 penalties 11 by the offensive line and three on the defensive line...

So why not just say we lost because the team was not good enough and we laid an egg. We as a team laid an egg

All the talk after the SFO loss has been about how bad Dak dnd MM are, but why isn’t there more talk about how bad the defense was? Even if the offense played well, they weren’t scoring 40 points that the defense gave up. Defense couldn’t stop nothing on Sunday night both run/pass and had so many penalties that extended drives. Where was the pass rush, where were the turnovers?

Offense put them into bad field position and the the defense often had to come back on the field shortly after exiting...

The Cowboys since 2016 only lose 7% of games when they:
- They rush for more yards than their opponent.

Cowboys: 57
49ers: 170

Note: These stats are NOT "blowout" stats. In a blowout the winner should have more rushing yards (not less) due to grinding the clock...

They look similar because they did the same thing each time. Each time they told you they were going to make Dak beat them and guess what...each time Dak failed.

No but Dak sure doesn't do anything to help us score. That defense even though they played awful still kept us in that game for awhile while the offense fumbled around. How long did it take us to get a 1st down? To expect the defense to shut down the other team and score points too is no way to build a championship. The NFL is a league driven by offense. We have no shot without a good QB and Dak is not one anymore.

MM and his staff devised a scheme to prevent the GB/Jax games from happening. Offensive issue right now is too conservative as the D has struggled and they need to score more points. This style works playing ahead, but will struggle playing from behind. Need to play more aggressive then let the D take over. Now the Defense has to play better, it's either great or terrible. Run game on both sides has to get better!

I would just let him call his own plays. He called plays during preseason. I am wondering if MM was warming him up to take over his own plays. Would put the heat square on him. Call it from what he is seeing. Maybe that’s what he needs.
