No, you are. Urban is the easy deflection for keeping another project.
Rack, is it really a big deal to you that I dont like Austin?

dooomsday;1616940 said:Listen buddy, its clear you know very little about either player. You have never seen either catch a ball in the regular season, but your an expert! LOL!
I dont know which TC you followed, but here is a couple snipts. I am sure you'll tell me I am wrong or "in-credible"

Is Miles Austin in trouble?
MICHAEL AINSWORTH / DMN
Wade Phillips was raving about rookie wide receiver Isaiah Stanback today. Stanback (right) caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Brad Johnson on Saturday night. The Cowboys plan on using Stanback more on kickoff returns.
Does this mean the end of Miles Austin, who bailed out the team last season on special teams when Tyson Thompson was hurt?
Maybe. Austin slipped at the end of his route, which resulted in Tony Romo throwing an interception on Saturday.
You can believe T.O., Terry Glenn, Pat Crayton and Sam Hurd are locks. Stanback is there, too. But if he can return some kicks, will the team send Austin packing?
Jerard Rabb and Jerheme Urban are looking pretty good in practice, so they might push Austin out as well.
Just a thought.
Who was OFF tonight?
Miles Austin had a horrible night, just when you thought Austin was up there at the WR spot, tonight’s performance makes you say, “uh oh” He missed routes, didn’t go hard enough for the passes Romo threw him, disappointing game. Sam Hurd didn’t have as bad a night, but he did have a fumble, but made up for it later and solid in special teams.
So, I go by what actually happened. Not being fooled by a little speed!

Rack;1616947 said:Yeah Ok, Urban's not on the team, Austin is. So obviously I know more about the players then you do, Chico.
And you don't go by what happened, you go by what some writer wrote about.
WHat do journalists know about football? They get paid to write, not evaluate.
dooomsday;1616970 said:Take whatever the path of last resistance as to not put yourself out there!
So reporters writing about Austin missing routes were just incompetent, or biased against him?? LOL!! He missed routes, period. They were reporting on the darn game, not his favorite color. :laugh1:
Rack;1616961 said:I couldn't care less.
I was only responding to your "Austin is Awful" remark which is an extremist remark, not to mention false.
dooomsday;1616978 said:As I said, I think Austin is an awful NFL wr. I am basing my comments on his play. There is nothing false about it.
dooomsday;1616951 said:LOL! I didnt say anything about Urban. I said I am not impressed with Austin.
Should I be?
Big Dakota;1616955 said:So the guy slips, Ainsworth speculates, and that makes your arguement that Austin isn't a decent prospect true?
TheCount;1616781 said:I just don't get it. Miles is a long way off from being a reliable receiver. In my opinion, Urban had way more upside and I think he could play on special teams just as well as Miles.
Would there have been any significant difference money wise? I'd assume Urban would be cheaper as well.
Also we cut Remi Ayodele? What the hell for?
zrinkill;1616985 said:Thats what this is all about ..... you have been pimping Urban all day.
Austin is our 5th or 6th WR ...... thats all ..... noone is saying he is gonna be a starter or even a 3rd guy ....
dooomsday;1617009 said:Dont like him, nor do I see him developing. Sorry.
What I said about Urban was he could help more this year than Austin. Why wouldnt he? He already has a career catching passes on this level. Austin next catch will be his first.
We need players, not projects.
BigDFan5;1617013 said:So in your opinion the guy who would be the biggest help this year is the guy who is not as good a special team and not as good as a WR?
Urban is not a project?
dooomsday;1617021 said:You totally lost me?
I think Urban is a better WR right now.
I think Urban would help the team more right now.
I dont think Austin is all that on STs either. TT can do everything he does.
Since you brought up Urban, LOL, I will tell you what I think. Just a scrappy last WR/STs type. Is he a project? 4 year veteran. I think he is what he is.
I really dont mean to kill Austin. Just being honest. I like his speed, I just doubt very much there is ever a pay off in the passing game.
Rack;1616927 said:Regarding the first bolded part, there goes what little credibility you had.
Second part, none of us think he's "Great" or even "Good". We see a 6'3" 225 lb WR with blazing speed and solid hands. We see potential. We also see a good special teamer (both covering and returing kicks).
What's wrong with a WR with nice measureables and great potential that can play very good on special teams while he develops?
TheCount;1617033 said:I'm going to assume you used up your credibility a long time ago, so you don't have much left to lose, but you're out of your mind to put great potential and solid hands in the same conversation as Miles Austin.
Sam Hurd has solid hands and great potential, all Miles has is speed.
I can promise you there have been plenty of players in the NFL that had speed and quickness that amounted to jack.

Sam Hurd has solid hands and great potential, all Miles has is speed and a kickoff return for a touchdown in the wildcards.

Yeagermeister;1617043 said:It has worked for Thompson for the last 3 years.
Yeagermeister;1617029 said:Austin doesn't just return punts. He's also a very good gunner on punts. You keep good special teamers not let them go. That's why Keith Davis has been around so long.
dooomsday;1617049 said:Ty Thompson? This is year 2.
