Why did they trade Amari Cooper again?

Definitely that's Dez's bread and butter, but his speed, IMO, doesn't allow for him to be as effective for other routes. I just think Amari gives you more variety and the same can be said with a QB that is elite and precise. Imagine hitting Amari as soon as he comes out of a break, in stride.
wake up, that isn't happening on this team. "in stride"

It was a locker room thing or?
I think they wanted his contract off the books.

And I think things Amari did rubbed Jerry the wrong way.
Jerry is Dumbo GM that traded the player that saved the 2018 season, and best season was without Dak Prescott at QB (injured). In other words he is a winner and Jerry just wants to be relevant.

The contract is one of the cheapest contracts for a true no.1 WR. He took less to stay in Dallas vs. Washington's offer.

Like Jimmy Johnson said "its a country club" the Arlington Jonesboys.

Agree. In the end, it all came down to Jerruh not wanting to pay that much moolah to a player like Amari.
Money was the biggest issue of several issues.
I think money factored in bc there is a cap but the primary reason was his lack of effort. The Cowboys had big hopes that year and the FO was unhappy that a player making that kind of money wasn’t giving his full effort. There were some blocking assignments in particular where they felt he just didn’t try. In any case, it’s never just one thing but that was the straw the broke the camels back.

Yes but Jerry also made some cryptic comments after the whole missed games thing and some in the media reported he was peeved about it. I think it was definitely a factor.
It’s never just one thing.

In other words, Amari saw that Prescott was still the Dallas Cowboys' quarterback.
No reason to whiff on blocks. The Cowboys FO was pissed. That explains why they didn’t get more in return. They just wanted him gone.

Because it's the Dallas way

Had to save ourselves some bucks

We traded Amari away and did NOTHING with the savings.
Yep. The complain was money but Lamb was on his rookie deal and Shultz was never going to get a big money contract so it's not like wideouts were hogging all the cap space. Cooper if I remember correctly had little to no guaranteed money left so they could of easily restructured it if they wanted to, it was a workable contract.

The other theory was Lamb was the new #1 but there's no rule saying you can't have 2 wideouts that are high level on the field at the same time....... (that's like complaining that your great left tackle is going to get replaced by this new 1st round tackle, it's like move the other guy over the right tackle don't just dump him they can both play at the exact same time)

I had no problem with letting Amari walk, but they've yet to successfully replace him - Cooks included.

Because Dak went crying to Jerry’s office that Amari criticized him too much
When did Cooper ever criticize the QB? BS. Cooper was the consummate pro and our best receiver. Fans here wanted him gone and claimed he disappeared in big games. Funny how all the hatred and narratives change After someone leaves, including KM.
