Why didn't the Cowboys fight back like the 49ers did?

Both the Cowboys and 49ers were playing at home. Both teams were down by multiple scores.

One roared back behind timely defensive stops and a few momentum changing plays. The other went out with a whimper.

What is the source of the contrast? Is it talent? Is it intestinal fortitude?

I'll say this, Shanahan looked like you could fry an egg on his forehead at the end of the 1st half. He was visibly perturbed. I wish I could hear his halftime speech because his players, his leaders like Deebo, came out with a chip on their shoulder in the 3rd quarter. Top, down they have something that is a completely foreign concept in Dallas - football character.

Cowboys need to spend all offseason dissecting what is preventing them from fighting back when they are put in a corner like the 49ers did last night.
The Cowboys like the Cowardly Lion , have no Heart!!!

Detroit collapsing helped a lot. They blew that game more than the Niners went and won it.

Run the ball, kick the damn field goals, and Detroit holds on and wins the game.

No leadership, less talent, poor coaches, terrible owner and an even worse GM

Purdy proved today that he can be “that” guy. He put the team on his shoulders and took them home.

The niners came out the second half with an attitude and were gonna *** win this game mentality. In no playoff game besides the bucs or the 2016 packers game have I felt the cowboys come out with that attitude and determination. Always feels like the other team gets more hyped up then us and come out of the gate swinging.

Some quarterbacks get nervous and jittery and finally settle in. Once Dak goes "deer in the headlights" look you might as well mail it in.
they kicked a FG like us, difference is Ogre is Detroit's HC, not Lafleur.

D has to stop the other team first.
So the offense can stand around?

Have you ever heard of a shootout?

That is what we needed; when the D is failing the O has to step up AND IT DIDN;T
Just like when the O is failing the D needs to step up
In that game NOBODY stepped up

A comeback win like that doesnt happen often because it usually requires a number of things to go your way.

The 49ers were helped by a Detroit collapse.
A Detroit team that had idiots making stupid mistakes and an idiot coach

but sometimes you just have to grit it out
THAT is what the 49rs did and we did not
Because in the end we are soft

2 reasons. We're SOFT....and have a soft culture. Comes from the owner....even fans are soft in many cases. Not their fault....it just trickles down.

And 2) Purdy. Nothing was going right for Purdy early. Early INT ...early big deficit...early lack of time of possession.

Remember that deer in headlights, look of bewilderment Dak had, like his inner voice was screaming at him "You SUCK, you shouldn't be on an NFL field! You don't know what you're doing!" We all saw that look on his face...on his eyes. You see that on Purdy? Nope. That dude WILLED his team to win.

That's the difference

It wasn't Dak that gave up 5.6yd/carry and 3TDs to Aaron Jones.
Agreed. And it also wasn't the defense that spotted GB an 18 yard field for their 2nd TD, and a pick 6 for their 4th TD. Goes both ways.

Not absolving the defense.
I am saying--their (SF) defense played hard even when they were far behind and the offense was struggling, because they knew they still had a chance.
Our guys folded up against GB. Not excusable, but somewhat understandable, because they knew it was over. We all did. GB scored early, we go 3 and out, our defense holds, Dak serves the up with an 18 yard field. Now we're down 2 scores.

We go a short possession and punt again, GB Scores again (3 scores).
Dak's answer? A pick 6 and we're down 4 TD's.

was the defense great? Of course not. But what about that series of possessions by our offense would inspire any hope or thought of a comeback?

Sometimes, when you are demanding to be the highest paid player in NFL history, you need to carry the defense here and there.
you can't always fall back on "They didn't give me any stops". Sometimes it's on him to get it done and unless we are playing some bottom feeding NFC East cellar dweller, he's not up the task.

Might explain the woes this team yields......can't look beyond one (1) player's flaws. Everybody else on the team is apparently immune to the reveals, reality, and displays on film too. Gpt it.
Goes back to my original post about Dak's vaunted "leadership".

At 27-7 at halftime, who do you think the guys in our locker room are looking to, for a shred of hope? I'm guessing they are looking for the highest paid guy on the team (soon to be the highest paid guy in league history) with the "C" on his chest, and hoping he'll give them something to go out there with in the 2nd half and fight with.

Instead, we get the blank stare and the "LV" motivational purse.

Hell yes, I'm looking at 1 guy. Because I'm constantly told what a great leader he is and how much that locker room believes in him.
Just being politely honest, I'm not seeing it. Like I said, there are maybe 5 guys in that locker room who genuinely believe he's the guy.
That's a problem. A big problem. And it needs to be discussed without him getting the cover of "the defense struggled too"

We all know they did. But when you are demanding to be the highest paid guy in NFL history and walking around with a purse and a hat that has your cadence embroidered on it like you're all that, then maybe it's on Dak to rally the troops instead of constantly acting like he needs to be carried by a top notch defense and run game

Not true, niners came out with a chip but ended up punting , they didn’t get going until the 4th down stupidity by Dan C and miracle catch by Aiyuk

I just don't get this franchise anymore. It seems everything we touch dies.
In another universe, Jerry Jones is Thanatos, the Greek mythological god of death. A tiny fraction of Thanatos power seeks through the fabric of space. One touch. Poof. Dead.

Jimmy Johnson's Midas touch deflected Jones' power until he drained it all away. Defeating Jones is impossible. Ironically, it would be possible if he were Medusa. Sword. Slice. Done.

Campbell screwed up not getting the FG putting them up 3 scores with a kick off instead of turn over on downs mid field. Dan gave SF the jolt and confidence needed to get them going. Worse than anything ai saw MM do recently.

First of all it begins with talent level . We simply didn’t have as much talent in key areas to overcome .

And in other games like this where we got off to slow starts against good teams it was much the same ending .

But the 49ers received a huge gift from Lions HC Dumb Dan which completely provided an opportunity for momentum change. And SF took advantage and Detroit never recovered.

Well, they had one opportunity to tie the game after the collapse but Dumb Dan struck again.
