Why didn't the Cowboys fight back like the 49ers did?

Point taken, but I believe it was the tinman that had no heart, the lion needed courage. Still might fit that showing last weekend though.
Thanks , I should watch the Wizard of Oz , to brush up on my analogies!
Lol
Jerry the GM, does remind me of the Wizard behind the curtains !
:lmao:

We are soft. We get punched in the mouth and then we fold. I don't even know if we come back in a game like this even with Campbell's questionable moves. I knew the game was over after the first drive. You could see it in their eyes especially Dak's..
Totally missed a wide open Lamb, crossing with lots of space to run, resulting in a punt.
Then next possession, down near our own goal line, decided he would even it up by going for the highlight reel with the long ball to Cooks, instead of just trying to get 1st downs and get himself into rhythm.
We punt again and he becomes even more jacked up, jittery and useless.

To directly answer the question:
The current country club /entitlement culture that permeates this organization. Victory parties before the GB game? Are you kidding? That tells you the priority of the players--- the Me, Myself and I mentality. Whether Jerry and crew knew about this or not, it's a damning indictment of the lack of accountability, a clear lack of unity, lack of a Championship mentality, and the somewhat apathetic nature that's spreading throughout the organization. Lots of talking, not being about it.
To me right now, it's just 52 individuals wearing the same uniform. I'm confident that one day the Cowboys will be a TEAM with Championship aspirations again before I leave this earth. It won't be with Jerry and crew running things.

Starts with the culture.... as many have said too many entitled, self promoting, individual record, money chasing.. players on the team...
The team need a sports psychologist or a hard nosed head coach... Jerry struck gold when he hired Jimmy Johnson because he was both (psychologist background and hard nosed coach)....

Goes back to my original post about Dak's vaunted "leadership".

At 27-7 at halftime, who do you think the guys in our locker room are looking to, for a shred of hope? I'm guessing they are looking for the highest paid guy on the team (soon to be the highest paid guy in league history) with the "C" on his chest, and hoping he'll give them something to go out there with in the 2nd half and fight with.

Instead, we get the blank stare and the "LV" motivational purse.

Hell yes, I'm looking at 1 guy. Because I'm constantly told what a great leader he is and how much that locker room believes in him.
Just being politely honest, I'm not seeing it. Like I said, there are maybe 5 guys in that locker room who genuinely believe he's the guy.
That's a problem. A big problem. And it needs to be discussed without him getting the cover of "the defense struggled too"

We all know they did. But when you are demanding to be the highest paid guy in NFL history and walking around with a purse and a hat that has your cadence embroidered on it like you're all that, then maybe it's on Dak to rally the troops instead of constantly acting like he needs to be carried by a top notch defense and run game
Let's be real......it's more than what's being revealed, or you just fail to simply view completely or fully objectively about Cowboy demise or underachievement. We fully understand you don't like Dak, even if he saves Grandma from a burning building. We got it.

A lack of poise from the QB position is a big part of it. Ideally, you'd like your QB and highest paid player to be the one leading the charge of a comeback.
The 49ers defense didn't allow a single point in that 2nd half until 2 minutes were left and they were up 10.
Purdy was solid but he had many breaks where balls were poorly thrown and ended up as catches.
The overall why is the 49ers are a much better team. They are solid in all 3 phases. That showed in the 2nd half.

Dallas lost all 3 phases in the 1st half and the Defense and ST in the 2nd where offense came alive against prevent defense but it hardly mattered.

Both the Cowboys and 49ers were playing at home. Both teams were down by multiple scores.

One roared back behind timely defensive stops and a few momentum changing plays. The other went out with a whimper.

What is the source of the contrast? Is it talent? Is it intestinal fortitude?

I'll say this, Shanahan looked like you could fry an egg on his forehead at the end of the 1st half. He was visibly perturbed. I wish I could hear his halftime speech because his players, his leaders like Deebo, came out with a chip on their shoulder in the 3rd quarter. Top, down they have something that is a completely foreign concept in Dallas - football character.

Cowboys need to spend all offseason dissecting what is preventing them from fighting back when they are put in a corner like the 49ers did last night.
Top 10 ******* answers: Feel free to add.

1. They quit Dak
2. Defense played bad because Dak is a choker
3. It's Jerry's fault
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

In order to fight back your defense can't keep giving up touchdowns every time we score one.

Especially the defense. They actually got a stop only to see Dak give it right back. Defense was demoralized instantly.
Yea it was worse in person than on tv. The entire team was just lulling around during the game. Crowd was out of it and mouth breathing Dak sucked the life out of the team.

They got punched in the mouth by Brandon Jacobs and the NY Giants for years, we blamed it on Coach Cupcake.

They got punched in the mouth in the Romo years, we blamed the QB and a robotic head coach.

Here we are, it's happening again with an entirely different core/staff. Including a DC who had Seattle playing with incredible swagger for years and even took the lowly Falcons to the Super Bowl.

Demarcus Ware gets criticized for years for not showing up in big games, then shows up expediously in Denver.

I just don't get this franchise anymore. It seems everything we touch dies.
The reverse Midas touch.

I think the defense had a fatal weakness this year that was masked often times by an offense that could get rolling and overwhelm teams. When Dak in the Headlights showed up the weak spine of the defense got exposed and they just folded.
Great post. Just like Romo did, scoring hid those fatal flaws on this defense. If the offense had a bad game, the defense was never going to help. Dallas offense has to be good or great for this defense.

So the offense can stand around?

Have you ever heard of a shootout?

That is what we needed; when the D is failing the O has to step up AND IT DIDN;T
Just like when the O is failing the D needs to step up
In that game NOBODY stepped up
How can you have a shootout when your defense can't stop the other team from scoring???
