Why didn't we pick an offensive lineman with our first three picks you asked?

Because who are we moving to the bench? Barring injury in training camp this is our starting group, IMO.

Tyron Smith LT
Tyler Smith LG
Biadasz C
Martin RG
Steele RT

Swing tackles/back up guards will be Waletzko/Peters and Ball
Waletzko is going to surprise many people here. We will draft a backup at the center position today.

If ya'll laugh at Tyron getting his job back at LT, go look at the Bucs and 49er games. ESPECIALLY the 49er name. The dude was kicking and taking names out there. When healthy he's still our best option at tackle.

You don't sit a first ballot HOFer when he's healthy and still playing very well.

I don't guarantee anything but I think this is what they were thinking last night.
Spot on. The Cowboys have not lost any confidence in Tyron. He's still our best LT when he is healthy, though Tyler did a decent job filling in last year. But let's not pretend Tyler had a pro bowl season.

Peters is a 41 year old free agent and Ball sucks. We saw what happened when Steele went down last year - the run game died. Even Pollard averaged less than 3 yards per carry from that point.

The OL depth is no better than it was last year. Relying on the starting five to stay healthy for 17 games is wishful thinking.
…….and unlike Philly we can’t have 3 deep elite talent depth at every freaking position

There was a run on offensive lineman early and you don't draft for need alone. You marry it with avaialble talent.

It is what it is.

The Op's starting line is likely who will lineup week 1. If Tyron gets hurt again smith slides over and its easier to plug guard than tackle and we know Smith can handle the blindside especially after a year and 2nd offseason.

Chicken littles in here are wild.

If Tyron could ever stay healthy all season, I would agree with you.
Sadly, that's not been the case in 8 years.

...and when Tyron gets injured again?????? Then what????? The Eagles seriously upgraded their DL as did the Giants and Washington still has a quality DL......so in spite of those upgrades Dallas has done nothing to upgrade the OL when they had a chance to grab road grader Torrence in the 2nd.....but instead reach for a part-time blocking TE....laughable.
I must say Im grossly disappointed with this draft. This stinks of a bunch of morons in the FO that have no clue about their own team.

What they want to do and what they did makes zero sense.

Peters is old but still good. Great guy to have as a backup. Given that we didn't take oline early and often, there should be a roster spot for him. They should sign him now.

Peters is 41. Tyron is always hurt. Zach's not getting younger. Huge mistake not going ol.

Cowboys love Chuma Edoga and Matt Farniok and really love Matt Waletzko. Plus they added Asim Richards. 5 starters plus Steele makes 10 OL.

Keep in mind they passed on Torrence for a reason and got a blocking machine TE because they thought he would upgrade the blocking game more than Torrance. And calling him a blocking TE is an insult to him. He can catch passes also.

I‘m still in shock that we didn’t take Torrance. We have no depth. You can draft a guy and have him sit a year and learn. We have injury concerns that need to be addressed by having quality depth.

Like the TE we got, but told my brother and law who that pick was going to be. When they said TE from Michigan, he looked at me being a fan of Michigan and told me what we’re getting.

I like the 1st round pick since, 2nd round, I would have either drafted Torrance or traded way up into the last few picks of the 1st and grabbed someone with 5th year option.

I am not upset they didn't take Torrance perhaps because he didn't fit the scheme. But I am not happy they didn't address OL and RB until later rounds. This OL has injuries issues that we already know will occur with the long season.

Dallas has proved itself pretty smart in drafting o-linemen. I was surprised they didn't get a guard or center towards top of draft, but I tend to trust they had good reasons.
Off the top of my head Dallas has been very successful with drafting OL in the 1st round. But other than that we aren't very good at drafting OL prospects.

Torrance was BPA in the 2nd by a mile. Find me another 2nd round guard who's given up 0 sacks in 4 years.
