Difficulty has nothing to do with them not even attempting to dive.

It's calculated, man. A bunch of guys running full speed all over - why lay out for an obviously uncatchable ball and risk getting blasted in your ribs over the middle by a Denver Broncos linebacker?

I don't expect people to dive for a ball thats yards up yards away but there have been some that looked catchable if they had dove.

We don't throw deep because Romo can't do it with any degree of accuracy. The last time he tried it...it was during the 1st Giants game this season and we all know how that turned out.

Stats in previous years say you're wrong. At least, in comparison to other QBs.

I always thought the reason is because Romo doesn't really have that strong of an arm, and when he does throw deep, the ball seems to just hang there at the end and thats why he gets picked off alot when its thrown deep.

It's like basketball, man...why shoot the three when you can get a high percentage shot like a layup?

Something else to consider about Romo.It seems like once he hits a big play he starts looking for it a little too often.I could be wrong but sometimes I get the impression that he tries to force the issue after he has a little success.

Another question to ponder. How can this team run the ball 30+ times a game if they are trying to implement a game plan that includes a deep passing attack?Aren't those low percentage plays that force more 3 and outs?

A couple of weeks ago people were *****ing about Garrett's deep passing attack.Or rather how stupid it was to call all deep routes thus neglecting the short to intermediate passing game.I guess the latest flavor of the week is deep passes come hell or high water.

Maybe the solution to all this teams problems are a rule change. One ball for the 3 yards and a cloud of dust crowd. One ball for the chunk it down the field crowd.Another ball for those who think this teams needs to do whatever it takes to win crowd,

Well shoot my glass is empty, time for another shot of bourbon.

Except for a gadget play here or there in the endzone we never run play action. How on Earth with this running game were not running play action at least once a half is beyond me but it is what it is.

I think Garrett uses the gun so much because Romo is more comfortable in it for one reason. I also think Romo is more likely to throw INTs when he's out of the pocket 'creating' plays. He's more likely to create a big play but he's also more likely to throw a pick. JM observation and opinion.

for good reason. teams have figured out in order to beat the cowboys you take the big play away. they are keeping their safties deep and keeping the WRs in front of them and forcing the cowboys to dink and dunk their way up the field. we have struggled against cover 2 type defenses. they are saying that we don't think you are good enough to make 10-15 plays in a row consistently and they have been right. we make 5-6 plays and then have a bad couple of plays and punt.

so now the book is to stop the run, force them to pass and they will go into shot gun formation, then they can blitz, since our OL has trouble picking up the blitz and make cowboys one dimentional. easy to defend.

See above. I don't think the blitz comes because we're in the gun but because 'the book' on it shows it works in passing situations. And we pass mostly in the gun. It's not brain surgery.

And last week the Giants took away the run and the underneath stuff. So that wasn't the 'book' on how to do it against us. That should have opened up the intermediate pass which it did. I don't know why they didn't throw the ball down the field even further since that's the one game the deep pass should have been open the most (blitz and tight coverage). But I guess the intermediate pass was so open and so 'reproducible' that Garrett didn't want to risk a loss of down with a long pass (most likely scenario) nor risk a pick. Why not stick with what was working? We just didn't get the points out of it we should have.

Just my take on it.

because Jason Garrett is the secret love child of Greg Davis........so we are continuously bombarded with 0-3 yd routes.

all kidding aside. I think our passing game has improved tremendously once we started going vertical to Witten. We may not be throwing 50+ yd bombs, but I think we do a nice job of converting the 15-25 yd passes. We are doing it without a consistent running game, without consistent blocking, and without any trick or gadget plays.
