Why does no one care more that Noah Brown is No. 2 WR

Noah Brown has done a lot of the “dirty work” (blocking, special teams…), and to my knowledge has improved every year he’s been in the league. I’ve never heard a negative word from a coach or another player regarding his contributions. I’m happy for the guy and hope he gets a chance to receive some targets and show what he can do. This is his opportunity while Gallup recovers and Tolbert continues to grow. If you have ever played the game, you understand the importance of guys like this. Brown is 100% part of this team and to my knowledge has earned every opportunity he’s been given. I’m rooting for him.

I don’t feel there’s been enough attention to Noah Brown being the No. 2 WR to start the season. He averaged 25 snaps per game last year in 12 games and that was with 111 taking place between the Chiefs and Raider games when everyone was down (we saw how well those games went).

Of those snaps I’d bet half were on special teams.

Rolling out Brown and relying on Gallup to be the savior when healthy is the same thing they tried with Tyron. Gallup had injury issues everywhere last year which is why there was no competition to sign him.

To me this shows Jerry and Stephen are hedging their bets with McCarthy to justify bringing in Sean. If they win and have to keep McCarthy - great. If they go 9-8 and first round exit (or worse) - bring in Sean who will magically fix everything. Which is stupidity for so many reasons.

But back to the premise, Noah Brown is AWFUL as the No. 2 even if it’s just for the opener which 105.3 thinks it is. They feel Gallup is back for Cincy.
For only the first 1-2 games, the WR2, WR3 spots will be by committee.

Then the other 15-16 weeks its Gallup

Plus, my guess is Pollard is a WR too this year, seeing that he took more reps at WR than RN in training camp. People arent mentioning this very often

Noah Brown wouldn’t see the field for SF, Rams, Bengals or Chiefs. May not even make any of those teams other than for ST.

Yes I am very concerned.

But to be honest I am most worried about our kicker situation than even OL or WR. We are clearly less loaded on offense this year which makes the kicker position even more important. We may lose those close games that come down to a kick in the final seconds.

I was just thinking last night that Simi Fehoko and Noah Brown making the final 53 man roster is a sign of weakness at WR. Add to that they are acting like getting Washington back will be a big boost.

I am not crazy about our skill position players or our offensive line.

When Brown was asked to step up in KC last year it didnt happen.

Dropped how many passes?

I expect more of the same. He isnt a starting NFL WR. Not in 2022 anyway.

One thing you can be sure of in Dallas.....they will think their own players are better than they are.

Because we are in the middle of a mini rebuild, and this is a throwaway year. Most do not want to admit it or see it, but that is what it is.

The better question, is why Swing Tackle was not addressed in free agency and why we are rolling out a subpar LT in the season opener?

Noah Brown isn't likely to be functioning as a typical #2. Until Gallup and Washington come back #2 will be by committee, and the TE's may see more targets than normal. Pollard could also be spread out wide more.

I don't think he is the No. 2 receiver. I think Pollard is. I do think Brown will be given more opportunities, but we'll toggle among him, Tolbert, Fehoko and Turpin, possibly even Houston, to try to find the best group.

I am not worried. Lamb I feel is going to have a breakout year. Number 2 spot will be different depending on play call, not just Brown. Each receiver brings different skill set. We will see Pollard in the slot and Turpin on some sweeps. Our WR looked better in practices I watched than preseason and I think that's just because are backup QBs just aren't very good.

Forgot to add, I am more worried about Dak having the time to get the ball to them though.

You can't have all pros at every position, duh.

We had Michael Irvin and some jags in early 90s.

Dallas wants to be a run first team this year and Noahr Brown is an excellent blocker.

How did Miles Austin perform before he got his chance to start?

But let's PANIC, because Brown will start two or three games. Posters act like Turpin, Zeke, Pollard, Shultz, Lamb, Ferguson, Tolbert, and Dak can't be trusted to make plays. We have a lot of other weapons on this offense, but choose to PANIC over one guy.

Agreed.. I think Noah Brown is more than serviceable as a #2. And he is far and away the best blocking WR on the team. People to often fail to notice that in order for long runs to take place typically a WR getting downfield and blocking is required. Something our other WRs have absolutely stunk at since Dez and T-Will left town. I am not worried about Brown as the #2 because he is a solid possession receiver with a big body. He can post up at the sticks and come down with contested catches. We don't need him running 9 routes.. That's what the Turpedo is for..

Landry would have let Brown go 3rd year.
He's not a #2 WR and will attract the same crowd if released as Garrett did when he was released
You don;t know that. Yet. We're about to find out!

Try to cheer him on if you have it in you.

The Cowboys have a lot of healthy weapons going into the start of the season and Gallop should be back soon.

I think they looked at Brown as a "project". He was limited at Ohio State too...with injury and NFL caliber WR's to beat out. But showed solid play ability especially at/in the endzone.

We shall see if it has paid off (more than it has already, as you mentioned).

I just don't see him as a #2...especially the # 2 we need. This team will have trouble generating big plays and that leads to an underwhelming offense. You need to be able to score in todays game and you need big plays. Dallas will have trouble generating these.

because Hes not our #2 target, we have Lamb, schultz, pollard, zeke, and Turpin all before Noahs name is mentioned. Add in Furgeson and Hendershot in 2-3 TE sets using run game etc ..lots of options OH and Gallup back by game 3 is also KEY.

anything else i can help with?

the OL concern far different story.

Dallas has yet to feature Noah and his skill set. I am not convinced they are capable. Give him those "possession" plays...and find him in the endzone. I'm telling ya...if they can do that Noah will perform well in #2.
