I think Jerry is still pissed at the result of the Washington game. And he has lost confidence in Tony. Usually Jerry wraps up his guys a lot sooner. I for one will be glad if he plays hardball.

If the Washington game caused him to lose confidence in anyone it should be the head coach!!

Just imagine how well Tony would perform with an good OL. Heck, he's impressive with the line we have now.

He's a QB capable of bringing us to the SB if he's well protected. A lot of the problems with Tony are because of not being protected and he makes something out of nothing but that sometimes leads to mistakes.

Tony is the kind of problem I like to have on the team.

Tony had a good line in 07. He still choked. Spare me the excuses. He sucks. He has no leverage.

Somebody's going to be surprised when the size of the new contract is announced.

Any bets as to whether or not we then get to hear complaints about our GM giving a huge contract to a player with zero leverage?

At the end of the meeting when the contract is finalized, if Romo gets over 3 years guaranteed he is robbing this franchise blind for as much as he has put the fan base through. No one should say hes the only problem. He's not. He's a cog in the dysfunctional wheel known as the Dallas Cowboys.

Dude it's happening now. No one is disputing that. People are saying we're tying our horse to a loser. He fails the eye test. If you're right and he wins a championship for us I'll gladly eat crow.

But if you think that Tony Romo is gonna put butts in the seats for much longer you're deluding yourself. And really in the end that's all Jerry cares about.

And also I never meant he didn't have leverage. For some mysterious reason beyond me he does. The whole point of the thread from my point of view was how Romo just blew the season and he could walk into Jerry's office and ask for an extension was beyond me.

Got my vote too...never provides any useful contribution

I used to never use ignore but I've found it keeps me smiling if I didn't have to even skim over what some of what these guys write. It's a really useful tool and may even help keep things more civil at times.

No, he didnt choke........Crayton dropping a go ahead TD and then pulling up on his route when Romo threw a perfect strike to the back corner of the end zone is what choked.

Tom Condon would eat you alive if you came at him with this weak arse argument to why Romo should not get paid.

If Romo has no leverage, enjoy being only $100,000 under the cap.

He is the only thing keeping us competitive. Aikman says we win 3 games max without Romo and I will take Aikman's opinion over any of the so called "experts" on this board.

Probably because we have a Jr. High School caliber offensive line, we cannot run the ball at all, fewest rushing attempts in 52 yr history of the franchise, our WRs have to be told where to line up on every freaking play, we have a turnstyle pretending to be a RT, we trail in every game until we let Romo go no huddle in the second half, and we have a OC that has no idea what a blitz is or how to call plays to counter it. And to top it off, you got a 3 time SB champion, SB MVP, Hall of Fame, Ring of Honor QB that is a legend for your franchise telling the fan base the team wins 3 games max without Romo.

That is how Romo and his agent can walk into Jerry's office and walk out with $100 million dollars.

I'm good with that. Long term this is what this franchise needs. Hopefully Jerry cleans house and brings in a football mind and uses that #1 on a franchise Qb. This team has a week foundation. And like the housing market all this mortgaging the future by giving players extentions that having done anything will cause The bubble to burst one year.

So rather than actually build a team you would rather pretend to have one by paying Romo?

It just really seems fatalistic to me. Romo is generally held by his proponents to keep the team together. Without him we're three wins and so on. Is that just an acceptance by the Romo crowd that Jones wouldn't build a team correctly with a high draft pick that he might get otherwise without Romo? So we might as well pretend we're good with Romo then accept reality that we're God awful without him thus giving him the leverage? If so then this team is in a very sorry state.

You are reading way too much in to it. All they are saying is Romo is an asset that improves the team's fortunes. And I wish pathetic bandwagon fans would knock it off with the "let's lose so we can become better, I can't stand 8-8 it's so horrible" mentality, it's pathetic and all it does is instill a losing culture... and the people who care about the team don't want to have to sit through it. Why don't you PM me your email address and take a few seasons off... I will email you when we win the Super Bowl and you can be a happy bandwagon fan again.

To be fair, Aikman probably didn't mean that literally since Kitna went 5-5 in 2010.

I do believe the team is better with Romo. But I also believe it gets a bit exaggerated at times.

Yeah, 3 wins is probably exaggerating. I agree. I think he was referring to last year though; when half the defense was missing and the oline was even worse than in 2010.

BTW. The Cowboys were 4-6 with Kitna as the main man in 2010.
Kitna had 16 TDs and 12 ints.
