That, and every year the odds are 1 in 32. Jerry is a gambler. He gets this.

He's a QB capable of bringing us to the SB if he's well protected. A lot of the problems with Tony are because of not being protected and he makes something out of nothing but that sometimes leads to mistakes.
Tony is the kind of problem I like to have on the team.

Any bets as to whether or not we then get to hear complaints about our GM giving a huge contract to a player with zero leverage?

No one should say hes the only problem. He's not. He's a cog in the dysfunctional wheel known as the Dallas Cowboys.
dstone2962;5030714 said:And also I never meant he didn't have leverage. For some mysterious reason beyond me he does. The whole point of the thread from my point of view was how Romo just blew the season and he could walk into Jerry's office and ask for an extension was beyond me.

Beast_from_East;5030759 said:Probably because we have a Jr. High School caliber offensive line, we cannot run the ball at all, fewest rushing attempts in 52 yr history of the franchise, our WRs have to be told where to line up on every freaking play, we have a turnstyle pretending to be a RT, we trail in every game until we let Romo go no huddle in the second half, and we have a OC that has no idea what a blitz is or how to call plays to counter it. And to top it off, you got a 3 time SB champion, SB MVP, Hall of Fame, Ring of Honor QB that is a legend for your franchise telling the fan base the team wins 3 games max without Romo.
That is how Romo and his agent can walk into Jerry's office and walk out with $100 million dollars.
dstone2962;5030950 said:So rather than actually build a team you would rather pretend to have one by paying Romo?
dstone2962;5030952 said:It just really seems fatalistic to me. Romo is generally held by his proponents to keep the team together. Without him we're three wins and so on. Is that just an acceptance by the Romo crowd that Jones wouldn't build a team correctly with a high draft pick that he might get otherwise without Romo?

Yeah, 3 wins is probably exaggerating. I agree. I think he was referring to last year though; when half the defense was missing and the oline was even worse than in 2010.CoCo;5030972 said:To be fair, Aikman probably didn't mean that literally since Kitna went 5-5 in 2010.
I do believe the team is better with Romo. But I also believe it gets a bit exaggerated at times.
