I feel like many people actually dont like Miles Austin at all. I know his pay is way more than someone with production should be pulling in. The hamstrings have been a thorn in the side on the team for a long time. These are serious issues, I agree. However, I dont see where these many posts about Beasley getting his reps are coming from. Williams is a nice story but he clearly doesnt have the hands as Austin.
He isnt far removed from thousand yard seasons. If you noticed him in the Giants game he looked as explosive as I remember him ever being. The guy has never caused any off the field problems and has carried out his duties in a very professional manner. If you take a look at Cowboys all time stats you might be shocked at what hes meant to the Cowboys. I cant wait to see him on the field this year showing his explosive abilities again.

I agree, you've certainly got nothing to back up your point that he's not busting his butt to get back on the field or that he's content to stay hurt.
Take a step back for a second and try to realize just how silly those thoughts are, man.. you're better than this.
Miles is such an enigma it gets to be too frustrating, and the cap figure is part of the "big" salaries on the team. He obviously isn't lazy but his hamstrings never allow a fan to rely on him. I personally love his "story" bc he isn't a "natural" receiver, more of an athlete with decent hands but has made it work coming in as an UDFA. The organization rewarded him quickly and the perception is that his play dropped off from that point, fair or not...and the large salary and looming hammy issues don't help him. Like him as a player though and do consider him more of an outside threat over any other back up wr's so there is no need in rushing to cut him.
I have a question for you and I am not being a smart arse. Why when you read that fans criticize a player, you take that to mean they do not like them? I have noticed that on more than one occasion.
No need.
You keep your beliefs based on what you're seeing, and I'll keep mine.
No brainless 'lol's' necessary.
I think that fans who say things like "hes a waste" "He doesnt care" "hes stealing money" and so forth. I think its just unfortunate. I have no special reason to defend Austin specifically, I think the guy has paid enough dues to be held in a high regard no matter how much money he was given.
It is like Broaddus put it, Miles seems quite content on the sideline wrapped in his snuggle..lol
Pass Rating on Austin's Targets
2011 117.8
2012 87.0
2013 70.2
Broaddus said that?
As for the OP, it's unfortunate, but it's the way it is. People love to dump on pretty much every player who goes downhill, especially ones that make good money. I don't know people are that way, but they are.
I understand and appreciate where you are saying, but this is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league. I am sure Miles realizes that too. You can't dwell on past performances and expect to fans to cut you some slack unless you are a hall of famer, and even then fans will be criticsl (see Witten when he had a case of the dropsies last year). Miles? His hamstring injury seems to linger a little longer after he signed the fat contract, IMO. Just sayin'.

I do doubt the authenticity of the tweet, but are football people floating this idea of "terrible" and "disaster" yes they are.
Hateraide;387222 said:Comments like this drive me NUTS! If he would be some "STAR" or have a "BREAK OUT CAREER" elsewhere, then best of luck to him. He has the perfect chance to do those things here! He just cant get out of his own way! Hes one Toss of his jersey at Garrett to be JUST like his cousin Antonio Bryant!
Tex;387231 said:His numbers? Such as the number of times we see Romo yell "Dez!" after a busted play? Romo can't even look his way in big situations because he runs the wrong route too often. Age can't fix stupid.
Cal;387336 said:Like I've said before, Dez is a fine #3 receiver.
DoTheNeedful;387338 said:The #1 ingredient to a successful WR is having the trust of his QB. No QB could trust #88 so he rarely gets looks. Jerry bought fools gold on this one.
Cal;380823 said:13 catches and he doesn't break 100 yards. I don't know if I've ever seen such crappy production from a receiver. I'm being serious. And his drops are worthy of a benching. That kind of crappy production along with his boneheaded play is easily replaced.
Twisted Dawg;377523 said:No team would give up more than a 5th round pick for a very flawed and emotionally troubled player that doesn't have the ability to remember plays, drops passes, and has emotional tantrums. At best we might get another journeyman OL player back.
If Garrett had a brain and a pair, whihc he doesn't, he would start making Miles the number one option in the passing game. But if he would, I;m sure Jerry would over rule him.

two TD punt returns. He seems to be real decent in that.
I think he is really over rated, I can't remember a cowboys player that was this over rated .

Anyway, I just feel the amount of hate hes been getting here lately can be attributed to a good game by Beasely. There are seriously guys that think he can be a replacement from Miles Austin. Perhaps it could be true but highly doubt it.Hateraide;387484 said:I would call the Jags and offer Dez for Larent Robinson and 2 late round draft picks!
You don't know why people dislike underperforming and highly paid players?
TT I usually agree with everything you post. But I disagree about the first Game. I didn't see any explosion out of Miles in that game. I was disappointed with all the attempts his way how poor is average was. Something is not right with Miles at all. Why did he miss the Det game? He played the week before? Don't recall hearing he hurt himself again? I feel like as soon as Twill started to come on he was quick to want to come back.
Well it's like T-Ro said, I generally don't dislike players unless their effort isn't there or they're bad guys off the field or something like that. It stinks that Miles is always hurt, but I don't see any indication that he's jaking it. And it's not his fault Jerry offered him a lot of money.
I don't dislike the guy either but I'm not going to pretend he's half the player he was - or is half as healthy as he was - during the season he earned that big payday.
Is that on him, I really don't know. I can't see how there isn't something that could be done to prevent these recurrent hamstring issues.
I don't think he's a bad guy and I don't dislike him. It may not be his fault that Jerry offered him money but the reality is that his presence comes at the expense of someone who can help.
