Why in the heck would we spend a 4th on a player that won't even make the team?

simply hillarious. I need to buy all three seasons.

The fox network is so dumb, they cancel everything they produce that is worth watching and keep things like are you smarter than a 5th grader on the air....

You are missing some things. One of the first things that jumps out at me is this, You list petitti as a who? and mcquistan as solid. Rob P started 16 games at right tackle, mcquistan has never seen the field. No matter how much all of us like mcquistan, and I do big time I think that is a silly statement. How is Al johnson a waste. He played here for three years and was very useful on special teams also.

Secondly, you are giving no credit for canty, barber, ratliff, crayton, reeves.

many other things are strange with your post, newman isnt a probowler and it is too early to call stanley a waste.

Howbout all the undrafted players parcells brought in? Howbout the guys he pulled off other practice squads? Scott Shanle, Ryan Fowler, Brett Pierce, Tyson Thompson, Tony Romo, lousaka polite, Oliver Hoyte, Miles austin, Sam hurd, junior glymph, lp ladacouer, Matt Mcbriar.

Then he turned around and got a pick for shanle and also traded sean ryan so at least we got something in return this year for those guys.

Parcells did an outstanding job of making undrafted guys players who contribute and he did an outstanding job of finding guys to help this team from other practice squads.

A few other things. For instance, You are calling fasano a backup, we dont know that yet, he may start all the time and contribute a ton to this team in the coming years, and oh by the way for the all complaining about the pick of fasano I never hear anyone complain about how (parcells, if your going to blame him for rogers and peterman then you have to credit him for the good too) anyway how we traded down in the 2nd round a few slots with the jets and then selected fasano, and what did we get with that sly trade...the jets 6th and 7th and we used the seventh on who? Pat Mcquistan. I believe if I remember correctly the 6th got passed around a little and then back to the jets from us for their 5th which we used on Pat watkins.

So for trading down a few spots and getting Anthony Fasano, we used the trade and then another to get Pat watkins and Pat Mcquistan. I dont think that is bad at all.

for what its worth I like the stanback pick. I just hope they dont rush him. I dont think we need him at the start of the season if it is worth risking the whole season. If he can return punts and run some reverses for us in the second half of the season, I am more than happy to wait for him to get healthy.

Parcells stated he had to improve the bottom of the roster and he did.

Anyone can hit on day 1 draft picks. Hitting on day 2 guys and free agents is how you get markedly better.

BP built the talent up to a very high level and I really wish he were here as merely general manager. I suspect BP can continue to build very good football teams but may have lost the ability to coach them.

Comparing BP drafts to those that preceded him is just a means of making yourself miserable over how bad those JJ/Lacewell drafts were.

BP's bad picks play for other teams. Jerry's bad picks are in jail or roofing someone's house.

And yet missing on a day 1 pick is much more costly to a team than missing on a day 2 pick.

You also forget a guy called Adam Vinetaria who was a rookie kicker in Parcells first year as HC of the Pats. Parcells kept him and he kicked well and continued to kick well for many years. Isn't he the highest paid kicker in the NFL now with the Colts? NE did the same last year with Gost.....whatever and he turned out well.

Seattle also did the same thing. They drafted a rookie kicker (Josh Brown?) and he kicked well for them. In fact he was the kicker the Cowboys wanted to sign (we'd have had to give up a 7th rounder for him) cause Seattle didn't trender him any higher. Unfortunately we weren't able cause Seattle (remember they in that mess with Hutchinson and Minny) made it clear they wouldn't us to grab him but would up the ante. So we backed off and signed Vandy -- God help us. Doesn't he stay count against our 07 cap?

Just my opinion....I will try to explain....

I had Petiti as a ? mark....because I dont know what he is doing now....sure he played 16 games for us....yet the next yr is couldnt even be a backup...the only reason he played...was because we sucked and had no one else...sorry.

I gave credit to those players.....solid is a compliment...

Newman IMHO is a probowler...has played like one...just hasnt been voted in...stanley is just a backup that we cut serveral times I think....IMHO a waste...will not contribute much. IMHO

I didnt have a opinion on FA or undrafted players....His predecessors never had that luxury of having unlimited money to pick up FA....I do like the undrafted FA's picked up....credit goes to the scouting dept....Bill is usually gone by then and had very little input IMHO

I called fasano a solid 2nd TE ....which he is....will get alot of snaps but he will always be Wittens backup here in dallas......

Peti was backing up in New Orleans last year and as far as I know he is still with them. He was forced to play before he was ready he needed to be groomed and he did ok for a young guy who was not suppose to start. He was raw and still needed work but that is the way it goes sometimes

It can be but not necessarily so.

If you are hitting on later picks regularly and are a good team the high picks are not as important.

For instance Marcus Spears looks like a decent 3rd round level type guy but Canty was a 4th and has outplayed him thus far.

More importantly I'd gladly take finding Tony Romo over 2 free 1st rounders right now.

Crayton, Romo, Tyson Thomspon, Canty, Barber....

We have a lot of very important young talent that is not high draft picks.

You simply can not add only 2 or 3 legit NFL players to a roster each year no matter how good those 2 or 3 may be. Teams win by having good young talent that is affordable.

Yea he played RT for the Saints in the Hall of Fame game.

He wasn't a starter but I guess could be now that Jammal Brown is out, depending on how they shift the OL.

thks....didnt know what happened to him..

and in a forum - how come you can dictate what people can and can't say, but i can't?

wild how people are in such a rush to their own 'freedom of speech' they don't give a damn who's they run over in the process.

go away now.

I will not go away, slushy. When have I opposed you or others stating their position?
And If I can dictate, then the mods should know about it because I have been granted powers I did not know I had. I already feel drunk with power! LOL

As for freedom of speech in this country, that is soooo 1999.
:D

Its all great to find diamonds in the rough on the 2nd day....but if u continue to miss on first day picks....sooner of later its going to bite you in the ***.

Sure you will find players more affordable....but if you waste high cap money on 1st day busts and then put your hopes on the shorter contract players drafted in the second day .....your playing with fire....they will leave thru FA and ur stuck with a 1st day busts.

Anyways...im not trying to bash Bill Parcells...I thought he did a good job rebuilding this team.....not great but good.

The draft is a crapshoot....

hey dude - YOU'RE the one saying i can't voice my displeasure about people whining cause it's their right. fine. but if that's the case, *I* can also voice my own opinions, can i not? even if it's to say i think someone elses opinion is *wrong*.

you can't hide behind "freedom of speech" by telling someone else to stop talking, which is what you were doing.

the entire argument has reached beyond stupidity.

was he a questionable pick? i don't think so but i can see where others may say he was. but ya know what, *every* pick will find someone saying it was questionable. someone saying it doesn't make it so to anyone other but that person.

but to say that "questionable" pick is in jeapordy - we now split the topic and people kept confusing the initial argument with side fires.

could it be questionable? again - yes.
is his job in jeapordy *at this time* - not anymoreso than any other draft pick, playing or not right now.

my stance was that it was too soon to make that call NOT that it could be viewed as ?'able.

then suddenly i was a carter apologist and it went south from there; like many convo's will when certain people interact who already have a history.

now if it's so 1999 to hide behind "freedom of speech" then don't do it. don't tell me i can't tell someone i don't agree with their opinion as if i told them they can't have one.

of which i never said.

but we've already seen solid examples of people making stuff up no one else said and suddenly that's the focus of an argument.

So you love Quincy?

Oh, hey, I see what you meant about me dictating. I should have not said it was wrong to whine about somebody questioning a 4th-round pick, wasted pick, wrong pick or otherwise (though I missed the part about "wasted")
But, yes, you are correct to squabble about the assessment of whether that was a questionable pick.

HOWEVER, the other side had a valid and legitimate premise: that the pick might have been a bad one.
Posters should have a right to post without immediate, unrelenting attacks and putting words into other people's moufs.
ITS A FORUM, you know like them romanians with cesar augustus in Greece. OK, glad I cleared that hysterical moment wit you, Slushy. (I am kinda a student of history, Slushy, as you know. )

And we shall see if that assessment of the questionable pick was correct.

And If I may make a suggestion, slushy, and I think I speak for the other zoned out, ahem, I mean Zoners, when I say yur cartoon avator is not as intimidating as your meth-crazed image you previously had.
I say you bring back that meth-crazed dude as your avator and people won't mess with you as much.

Good luck with them "experiments" in yur basement. And dont be a hatah of others opinions. God bless you, Slushy.
:D

yes, it *is* a forum. people will talk *and* disagree. no need to tell me this cause i've been doing the "online" thing since 1986.

people disagree over a draft pick? THE HORROR!!!!!

ask around and i'm sure you can find someone to say every one of our picks was questionable.

then you'll find people who don't think so who will argue.

ya know why - cause's it's an OPEN FORUM where that happens. i'm not hating on opinions - but i can and will disagree. we all do. what i *hated* on was VA putting words in my mouth. that's all.

as for "me" putting words on other peoples mouths - please cite an example. VA did that to me and that's what took this south in a hurry - not the initial poster who came back and clarified later. if you can show me where i put words i someone elses mouth my next post will be an apology for that - no problem.

now you tell me why it took an act of god and a lot of "but but but's" to get VA to do that after his "quincy" tirade.

If you say VA, i sure can find no proof.

take your time.
