Why is Marcus Spears still on the roster??

Anybody here recall the last time Marcus Spears number was called last season?

Mr. Spears has proven to be a bust. He, along with the whining Ellis should be shown the door. Sorry guys, I'm tired of putting lipstick on a pig when it comes to some of our "celebrities".

Because he has another year on his contract. He also plays pretty well considering he plays DE in a 3-4. Your suppose to not be getting your name called if your doing a good job. They dont get the glory. They plug up the gaps for linebackers to make plays.

Spears served up a whopping 23 tackles in a 16 game season "stopping the run". Yeah, sure, he's worth what we burnt in drafting and paying him.
Face it, virtually any journeyman could replace Spears with ease, at a far cheaper price.

Marcus is a really good run stuffer. He isn't a sack artist, barely any 3-4 DE's are sack artists. Just because he doesnt get 6+ sacks a year does not mean he sucks.

Quite often his TFL/snap count is right up there with Ware's. He is not a pass rusher but he is a perfect first and second down 3-4 DE.

A solid starter in the latter half of the first round is hardly a bust. Most first rounders don't last 5 years much less play as many snaps as Spears.
