Why Is Marinelli Considered Some Genius?

I don't think I've ever heard anyone treat Marinelli as a genius. I think he's enjoyed some goodwill or some inflated perception of results simply by being way less of a dumpster fire than his predecessor, Monte Kiffin, was.

If anything, his entire reputation seems built on being fiery and motivating his linemen to try hard and become high-motor types. Which has value when your team is trying to get by with mostly mid-round and journeymen types along the d-line instead of bigger names.

He couldn't hardly win a game as a head coach I think that pretty much says it all he is I guess a rkg though I would like to see Dallas get a young DC and maybe even a young OC and see what happens in then

I mean, Wade Phillips is a terrible HC but an undeniably awesome DC. Buddy Ryan was one of the best DC ever and never won a playoff game as a HC. Dick Lebeau invented the zone blitz and has never even been a HC.

One's ability to be a coordinator doesn't necessarily speak to their head coaching acumen and vice versa.

It's the opposite of "genius" unless hard work today is called genius.
Now Marinelli's touch with the modern player I think is special
None of Nellie's schemes are complicated but if their executed properly
they get home.

You know we played IMO the best QB in the NFL, Rogers is amazing.
His scheme hasn't been executed properly since he got here.
Or the more sobering thought is rhat it IS executed exactly how it's drawn up but the scheme itself was figured out in 2005.
I go with the latter. It's painfully obvious for all to see. He has to go.....

I have yet to see one ounce of that being true while here. He's stubborn and continues to stick to some outdated system any QB with a pulse can exploit. Our defense is soft and predictable. Rob Ryan got crucified and fired for these same results yet I hear nothing but praise for this man. Maybe I'm missing something. Because he is no different than Rob Ryan was his few years here. This defense does nothing well. I really think this is the worst defense in the league but the offense masks it like they did last year.

Because we cobbled together a decent defense from leftovers for a few years.

Now he's got some better groceries, but we still ain't eatin' good.

I think that's a fair assessment. I also think he lives off the reputation of helping win a Super Bowl 15+ years with one of the greatest defenses ever assembled with HOFers (or excellent players) across the board in Sapp, Brooks, Barber, Lynch and Simeon Rice). We don't have the equal of those players.

I love the way we knew the defense would start slow this year and get better and better as the season progressed. Now Lee and Hitch miss games and all of the sudden Marinelli gets thrown under the bus.

Rod has had input on the picks and players we get for 4 years. So what we have now is pretty much what he has wanted. Sure we probably missed out on some guys but overall the players we have on D now are what Rod has wanted.
So their performance is on him.

He should be gone.

And as I have said a million times that scheme was figured out in 2005.
Sticking to the same old stuff doesn't work. Landry thought the flex would still wirk in the late 80's. It didn't. If you don't move with the times you get left behind and/or fired...
