His scheme can cover for some weaknesses, but it can't be weak at three of the four line spots and at the WLB and MLB positions. If you're going to run this 4-3, then you've got to be solid at those spots. You've got to have one end who can constantly get pressure to make the QB have to step up in the pocket, a 3-tech who can collapse that pocket, a 1-tech who is stout enough to command two blockers and two linebackers who can go get the ballcarrier and deftly drop into passing lanes.

Every defensive scheme has absolutes that it needs and these are Marinelli's. Without them, the choice is to adapt or die and Marinelli has shown that his ability to adapt is limited.

Don't these Ivy league schools have a course in Clock Management.

Any generic Madden player usually has clock management down better than these real coaches. I don't get it at all. It is not a hard concept. It's the most basic part of football strategy.

He's the one who apparently doesn't value investing in the 1 tech. He's the one that has pushed to draft and sign some of our bigger defensive failures. He's the one that has had a weird obsession with a bum like Carroll.

He's been mediocre both on and off the field.

It's time for a change and I think if this season goes as it's trending, the Jones family might offer up Marinelli as the sacrificial lamb in order to protect the 4th Jones child, Jason Garrett.

Marinelli as a D Line coach has failed. All these picks for D Line and we still can’t stop the run. The line gets no penetration. This defense needs the front 4 to be like the Giants was during their super bowl years.

It’s not even close. I’m ok with the scheme in theory seeing how that’s how Seattle built their great teams but Dallas doesn’t have the front 4 players to do it and it’s on Rod to coach em up after all this time.
