Why is no one talking about the last time we played the Saints?

Back then Payton wanted to show Parcells a thing or two. This year I'm sure he won't have any mercy on us either. Some highlights from that game.

Score 42-17
Attempted and recovered an onside kick despite holding a good lead.
Brees throws for 5 TDs by the end of the 3rd quarter.
Took a knee inside our own 5 yard line well before the 2 min warning.

The thing I remember most about the game was Payton exposing our LBs inablilty to cover. I don't think our LBs now can cover any better.

I'm hoping things will be different this time around.

12 of those starters in 06 are no longer on this team. What is there to talk about

Everyone credits payton.

It was Gary Gibbs who layed out the weaknesses of our defense. he was the guy.

that is why I was happy to win at KC this year...

and that onsides was some nonsense. Someday I hope we have a team that can get one back on them for that.

Nothing is worse than there fans though. biggest group of classless lowlifes I witnessed at the stadium ever.

What makes them even more annoying is that you never see them when the Saints have a bad year which is 9 out of every 10 years. The 1 year they don't suck they become the loudest most annoying "fans" you can possibly imagine.

I don't know. I'm hoping that Payton thinks he has our number, but doesn't. I'm hoping that Wade can pull something out of his *** and slow them down.
I know alot of players have changed, but I still think they will try to isolate our lbs on Bush or Bell out of the backfield.

Wow, why all the hatred for NO fans?

I dont mind them at all...and when the Saints arent playing the Cowboys, I'm def rooting for them. They've been my "other" team since 2000.

Yes he is but many others are no longer here. Ratliff played no part in that game Jason Ferguson was in and the secondary had Henry CB, Keith Davis and Roy Williams at safety. We had Akin Ayodele playing ILB along with James.
I think this is a better group of defensive players

There was a breakdown awhiiiiiile back (I think by Vela) saying why we had so much problem covering the flats and deep middle.

In short, it was scheme.

Yup, you can count on that. Also expect to see some five wide letting Shockey have a little fun with an LB.

last time wade phillips coached against shockey he basically made the giants throw it to shockey constantly, he had almost a career day and his team lost.

wades defense beat payton/parcells offense in 03.
Wades defense lost to payton/parcells offense in 05.

wades defense beat paytons offense in 02 in ny 17-10, with shockey.

You guys acting like payton has the upper hand is wrong. Wade has seen it all and will not get outschemed which is what payton lives on. Creating a matchup and being aggressive with the ball.

the lack of respect is astonishing.

Maybe he's learned to cover since then?:

you see him last Sunday on the Charger's, final 3-point drive?

let the FB get open in the flat, and then take a terrible angle, allowing him to get a 1st down?

Payton wasn't on the field wearing helmet and pads back then. Trying to predict results in the here and now based upon totally different teams and different schemes from the past is not logical.

He's not comparing teams. He's comparing different philosophical approaches and their possible implications.
