Why isn’t Stephen Jones doing his job?

The 49ers, Rams, Chiefs, Patriots, Seattle, Broncos all teams that went to multiple SBs alwasy make moves before trade deadline to improve their teams while our lazy spoon fed CAP guy is busy partying on yacht.
the cowboys are worth $8.5B. we saved 20M on the cap this year, which went straight to the bottom line. Stephen is doing his job. His job is to make Cowboys more profitable and more valuable. once you understand that, it becomes clear to you.

Oh come on.
All teams work with the same cap space. That $20 million is not in their pockets. It is for the future of the teams. They do not need to spend the entire amount allotted every year.
When they did, we seen what happened.
Fans whined they are in cap hell, can't sign players. Now they are not in cap hell, and fans whine they don't spend any cap money.

They are looking at future contracts as well as players if it works out they actually can come in and contribute.

Is there any other team in the NFL that covets draft picks as much as the Cowboys? You would think with the value that they place on draft picks that they would make more trades FOR draft picks.

Hard to do because the other thing they value is "our guys."

In case you haven't noticed, the Cowboys draft pretty well.

Do you want to trade 4 cheap years of Diggs, Osa, and Jake Ferguson for an injury prone RB?

What do you mean? Failing upward is his job. Nobody does it better.

Bingo....and they have some possible massive deals the next couple years if they want to keep Dak, Diggs, Lamb. Now you need to add Armstrong and Steele to that list. Oh yeah and they may want look at the possibility of extending Parsons as soon as he is eligible to help spread out that record breaking contract he is in line for.

The Cowboys are carrying cash forward because they almost have to.

I'm serious-what training has Stephen had?
His top cap hits today are Dak carrying a 108m dead cap, Zeke getting 18m as the nfl's top paid (by 7m) over the hill rb, and in 5th a wildly overpaid TE.
Jimmy ran the cap. Jerry thought it was simple but 26 years of trying says he still cant do it. Stephen is taught by Jerry.

Stephen's sole role is to act like Jr from Smokey and the Bandit. That's it. That's all he has to do and he's got that nailed.

Your entire post in invalid.
There was no cap when Jimmy was here until the end, or the year after he left. And he did not control it even in Miami.

These contracts are written to be redone anyway. We will see the impact in a year or 2, and if they are redone. I don't concern myself with them. Nor waste my time and energy on any it.
If other do, fine, I keep informed that way.

ur right about Jimmy but I still say Jerry cant run a cap. Dak, Zeke have bad contracts and this board confirmed that when they were written. Schultz being franchised was a bad call

They could have gotten Nicks instead of letting him go to Tampa. What has 15 years of Stephen’s conservative CAP management has produced in terms of team accomplishment?

Trade deadline not until November 1st. So give them time.
However the best move is to make no move at times. GM 101. Just like trading stocks. Sometimes the best time is to sit on the sidelines and do nothing.

All these wild trades some fans want just are not possible. Then you want to rag on the FO for not making them.
Don't make moves just to make moves, especially to satisfy some armchair GM's.

I agree, but I do think signing some players like a NT would be good.

imagine this defense with Miller, who could have fit in the cap this year. instead we have LVE and Barr. imagine miller and parsons and lawrence.

its about making the moves, investing to win. look at the rams. look at tampa. look at SF.

so should we be worried about future? of course, but the goal is to win it all. if there were moves to be made to put you in position to win this year, then those moves should have been made. instead we are going to have missing pieces this year. and next year and the year after and be average, perhaps another playoff appearance and early exit.

I have always said and will continue to said. the moves made by Jerry and Stephen are made to make cowboys more valuable. as President and VP, that's their job. their job is to make more money. as the GM jerry's job is to build a winning team, but given jerry is the owner/president and GM, he prioritizes his moves based in that priority. the GM will always get over ruled by the president and owner
