Stephen Jones is LAZY. Knowing league wide personnel talent, fit and salary structure is an all consuming job. Being the son of a multi billionaire and having a CEO type job handed to you without any competition makes you LAZY. Thats why he says "we like our guys". That way he doesn't have to grind to improve the roster.

C'mom. I know you know better than that. Cooper's stats weren't the sum of his value. And I'm not even claiming they should have kept him, though I would have rather than just cut him, which is basically what they did.

Lamb takes his spot no problem. We already had a younger, better WR on the roster. Cooper was highly expendable. And the fact that we got Gallup at a bargain rate for 5 years at 12.5 million per year made getting rid of Cooper a must.

Lamb and Cooper as your 1 and 2 is great going forward.

Regular season doesn't matter. We went 12 and 5 last year and we all know how it ended in the playoffs. 25 years of not getting out of the 2nd round of the playoffs tells us all we need to know.

Difference is you probably thought we were going to be under 500 this year and headed in the wrong direction.

How many of those teams currently have a better record than the Cowboys?

Trolls like you complained about all the big FA's and WR's we didnt bring in this offseason. You complained that we had gotten much worse and all the players we lost.

Some of us tried to talk some sense into you. You didnt listen and now you look like a child that cant admit he was wrong.

How many of them made to the playoffs regularly and to the SB multiple times?

It’s brainwashed fans like you that helps Jones keep the same mediocrity GM scheme.

The issue is that this is all about cap savings, but we do NOTHING with those cap savings. What did we do when Dak was on that cheap 4th rounder contract? Nothing. We cut Amari and did what with those savings? Nothing. In the meanwhile, other teams are actively loading up their rosters. Sure, we can win some regular season games, but when the play-offs come around, actively working to improve the roster will pay dividends.

1) You had Dak on a cheap deal, but you still had the Romo money on the books. I agree the Cowboys could have utilized their space better, but it's not like they didnt still have significant money tied up into the QB position. I dont have all the historical data, but what I could find from a quick good search shows they had $9MM after 2017, $19MM entering free agency in 2018, $18MM entering 2019 free agency. Lets not pretend that the Cowboys were just hoarding cap space year after year.

2) They got rid of Amari and I'll admit im assuming a ton here, but I sense they needed that money more for future years than 2022. Daks cap hit balloons from $20MM this year to $50MM next year. It's just now that Daks contract is getting real for the Cowboys and we saw some strategic moves being made to save money, replacing Steele for Collins, and resigning Gallup instead of keeping Coop, not beating the Broncos offer for Gregory, etc.

3) Who else is loading up their rosters right now? LA did last year and in the offseason...oh yeah the Cowboys just beat them with their backup QB. The 9ers just made a deal for CMC, but have we seen another other moves? We still have time before the deadline. The Cowboys still might look to make a move, we don't really know yet. I'm hoping they do look to upgrade one of the DT, WR, or OG positions. I'd love to see a Derrick Brown type of acquisition for this team. Not getting my hopes up, but this is the same front office that went out and got Amari Cooper before the deadline a few years ago too so who knows.

Thats got nothing to do with this year and the moves the Cowboys have made in the offseason. Changing the topic wont help you here.

He is worse than his father. Business profits is worth more to him than a superbowl.

Bingo. All this talk about people can't wait until Jerry is gone, Stephen is way worse. He's a penny pincher and is a dollar store shopper. All about quantity over quality. When you have a window open and you think you can win, you make moves to try and get better and get an edge on the rest of the league. All the good teams do it. Eagles did it in 2017. Rams did it last year. Tampa did it. Chiefs did it. This isn't the NBA or MLB where you can plan for a decade at a time and it's easy to keep a core together. NFL has very short windows that come and go quick. And once it shuts, its very hard to get it back open.

The only time I can remember this front office going for it was when we traded for Amari Cooper. And then it offset when they traded him for peanuts years later.

Good FO personnel are always looking to improve their teams and mitigate weaknesses. There are talented players out there…just a matter of finding them and making sure they are a good fit within the schemes of our offense and defense.

I am not condoning making moves for the sake of making moves, but the FO has, or should have the responsibility to maximize the competitiveness of our team.

Every team in our division except for the Skins has improved and become more competitive; they go out and players who can help their team and acquire the players they target…except for us. We build through the draft (if we hit on the player) and bargain-basement FAs. But then again what can we do when we go out and pay Dak $160MM to drive the bus.

4 pages of nothing but a whine fest.

Nobody in this thread mentioned a player or somebody to trade for that could help this team. They all just want a trade just for the sake of trading. How about 2 no. 1's for Galloway, or a no.1 for Roy Williams.

Trading high draft capital during the height of the trade market is fools gold. Why are teams trading away their best players? Because the salary of the player is more than he is worth. So not only are you taking on that cap hit you are giving away multiple low salary high draft picks.

The fan needs to hold the media accountable like 105.3 fan that let the Jones set the precedent about what’s going to be talked about.

If we are to get to a Super Bowl, we HAVE to start taking FA seriously again. Not using it as only depth filler or waiting until the 11th hour to sign some aging and injury prone vet to single year deals and think we just pulled one on the entire league. Stephen, just like his daddy, thinks he is smarter than he really is.

The blueprint for winning a Super Bowl has been out for a while now in this era: 1. If you have a stud QB, you have to win before their cap kills your cap or 2. You hit in the draft and while those young stars are on their rookie deals, you use the rest of your cap to bring in aging superstars to compliment them.

I don't see a #1 WR out there on a good contract that would be available for trade.

We won't be getting anyone mid-season because what we need should have been done during the offseason. And Jerry's stupid mistakes 2 decades ago shouldn't keep us from using FA right in this era. Your take is a scared one and why we won't win another Super Bowl.
