Overshown Bland Parsons Diggs Tyler Smith Beebe Schoon Ferguson Lamb Kneeland I’m not going to go throughout the entire roster , Tolbert when targeted ….I don’t buy the “ drafting badly “ excuse for MM .

Schoon a prime example . Use the guy and see results . Instead it’s week after week a pass in the flat to 87 for 4 yards . A DC will be easier to find when you hire a young OC to come in here and figure out how to attack a defense as your next HC .

That got the Cowboys no where and isn't close to what he was hired for.

All those teams did was beat up on bad teams and lose to good teams.

Can’t argue with that . One year after filling up on NFCE donuts to the tune of 5-1 the Jets and Patriots were on the schedule . Okay your 7-1 and on your way to round one elimination .

One of the things I liked about JG , they rarely got blown out . They played for the guy the players liked him he won I believe 85 games . They never really were serious contenders for a SB . It’s the same feeling now .

You could be right Pap. Jerry hates to have to hire a HC. He risks hiring someone who doesn’t like the way he plays with his toys. At this point anyone believing Jerry wants win more than anything is just not paying attention.
Our next HC is Mccarthy or Zimmer

Hey, I disagree w/ Bob!!!! Doesn't happen much, not much at all.

I think MM is irrelevant at this point. The culture isn't from the HC, it's from Jerry. The bad/wrong message has already been sent in huge glaring letters: Jerry will do whatever he wants and doesn't care if it's to the detriment of the team. Until that changes, the HC won't matter. Well, maybe if Jerry would actually bring in a Bellychickens, but w/ what Jerry is spewing, signs are not pointing toward that happening.

So, sure, get rid of MM if Jerry takes a monstrous step back. If not, it just doesn't matter.
Kevin, my take on having a new coach impact the culture is based on the (probably far-fetched) thought that perhaps a coach could have an impact on the culture despite Jerry. Or at least work around JJ.

To a degree Parcells was able to do that early on in his tenure here. He brought a higher standard for toughness and attention to details. It didn’t last long because of Jerry’s meddling but the Parcells model is the long shot culture impact I am hoping for.

Trysten, Mazi, Kelvin, and very poor DT play.

Diggs and Sam Williams both highly questionable at this point. Schooner was a bad pick because we didn't need him and needed other positions badly, and there were better prospects at those other positions.

Those misses should be part of the heart of our team. Instead, we still can't stop the run. And think how bad our LB's would be if Zimmer hadn't convinced Kendricks to go back on his contract?

Kneeland, Beebe way too soon to call good or bad.

Then we'd need a Belly type. It would take one heckuva young guy HC to overcome Jerry.

IDK, man. I thought it was Zimm, but he was majorly POed when Jerry wouldn't give him Sweat, who is beasting in TENN, BTW. From what I hear, Zim can't wait to get out. Maybe not, but only if Jerry gives him HC.

I think Big Mac is a good coach. Hell, he did some pretty good things here given the ingredients he was provided. This season isn't too much of a shock for me. What goes up, must come down. After three 12-5 seasons, we all knew this wasn't sustainable, especially with cheap Jerry coupled with Dak's contract.

No, we unfortunately didn't have playoff success with him. On that note though, it's starting to feel like this team is just snake-bitten in that department anymore. Like Jerry really did sell his soul to the devil for the 90s dynasty. I do think it's time to move on and get a new coaching staff, but who knows what difference it'll make?

Scares me to death it'll be somebody like Zimmer. You just know it deep down Jerry would do something like that.

Yeah, but he's one of the very few.

Who else would Jerry cede power to?
No one. And that includes Bill B. Which is one reason why I don’t think Belechick will agree to be here. He’s used to having a ton of control. Here? The HC has no control over the public messaging that all top HCs want to have.

Let me say these two points first:
  1. Mike McCarthy is a good football coach. (The best we’ve had since Parcells)
  2. Mike McCarthy’s time in Dallas needs to end.
Somehow for apparently stingy financial reasons Jerry decided to bring Big Mac back on the final year of his contract despite Mac being the HC of the worst playoff loss in Cowboys history last January. Most HCs never recover from that kind of mental mountain to climb.

And just to make it worse for all involved, McCarthy and his whole staff are all on final years of their contracts, leaving the staff twisting in the wind in front of the players. And on top of that JJ decides to let the off-season be an exercise in how NOT to do things for a new season, setting up the exact predictable disaster we’ve witnessed in 2024.

So after two wins against less than stellar opponents, the talk is now drifting to the idea of keeping Big Mac? Here are the reasons (in no particular order) why that’s a very bad idea:
  • McCarthy has had 5 full seasons to do something in the playoffs and has one wild card win to show for it. That isn’t going to get better next year. Year 6 will have no magic. Most modern era coaches who have deep playoff runs do it in the first 3-5 years, not after.
  • Keeping Big Mac keeps a bad culture intact. This culture needs a reset. Despite being a good coach overall, his teams are penalty machines and never seem to have the discipline to pay attention to details. We need a coach with some kahones that can impact this culture despite the Jones illness that has crippled this team.
  • McCarthy has an outdated offense. Yeah I know this year’s offense was almost weaponless. But Mac’s “west coast” style offense is a throwback to the past as opposed to what we see from the better teams. This team needs a new offensive facelift.
  • Keeping McCarthy sends the wrong message. I know there’s no real accountability in this organization as long as Jerry and Giggles skate for their sins, but winking at the HC who has presided over a nearly year long home winless streak and the most embarrassing playoff loss in team history must be cleansed not renewed.
In closing, I feel bad for Big Mac. It’s extremely hard to function like even a semi-normal head coach with this ego-crazed owner. But if we’re stuck with Jerry, we cannot also be stuck with McCarthy. It will make it worse not better.

Well I agree he doesn't need to be back if somehow he ends up back on this team as a head coach next year and we all have to live with it at least make him get a new offensive coordinator new offensive line coach Jerry needs to force something because if it's just business as usual with Mike McCarthy he's not a bad head coach but he's a terrible offensive coordinator he's terrible at creativity he can't separate himself from his head coaching in offensive coordinator jobs to focus on the team he should have demoted himself I I would've rather had schottenheimer regardless of how it would've looked it would've been different because it took him 10 games to figure out Rico was a starter and that Turpin should be used more and that maybe we'd be better off moving the offensive line around a little even if it's moving Tyler Smith back to left tackle isn't about wins isn't this about putting the five best guys on the team I mean he literally misused our running backroom all last year in my opinion and he did it to start this year you shouldn't take all year to figure out that Rico is your best running back and the rest of this experimentation during a real season should have been done in the preseason you should have knew this by now so yes just buy those things he should be fired well he's let his contract expire...

But again somehow he finished his season strong and catches Jerry's eye and we have to live with this man another season or two he better get a new offensive coordinator a whole new offensive staff really it needs to be revamped I can even live with Mike Zimmer getting another chance without the 11 injuries a bunch of key starters all at the same positions but yes my hope is completely blowing up I don't wanna see one coach here Nope not even al Harris I'm sorry if you start over you need to start all over...

Yup, which is the only reason I'd take him.
