Why not tank in 24

Our defense will be good enough to keep us in most games and get us to 8 or 9 wins, barely miss the playoffs and draft muddle of the pack. Mediocrity is what this franchise does best.

Bob do you have links to when Jerry said we like to “hang around the rim” or be “this close” than to have 3-14 seasons on purpose. I’ve never heard that although it wouldn’t surprise me much.
Jerry has said publicly several times he doesn’t like to rebuild…

Why not at this point? What we've been doing certainly hasn't brought us any results. Be like George Costanza on Seinfeld when he had his opposites day.

The only way Prescott doesn’t return is if he has already about decided he wants out, or does so within the next several months.

Either way it’ll be an interesting battle between Jerry’s bruised ego and what Prescott will command on the open market.

Jerry probably knows he is backed into a corner and isn’t used to not being in control. He doesn’t appear to be liking it. Honestly, does anyone else notice there’s much less wind in his sails?

The fact is, nothing really matter and nothing will EVER truly change as long as JERRY JONES runs this team.
I am just a "dead fan" at this point and just do not care for the time being

If you really wanted to tank, Micah and CD you go ahead and pay locking up long term. You're hoping to find a similar player at best from the picks you'd acquire. Dak is who you trade. Even with the no trade clause he'd go to a contender I'd they work out a contract beforehand. Pittsburg or Vegas are likely candidates.

You move on from guys like Dlaw and Martin moving them in their last year or two and letting young guys compete hoping the reps produce a good player somewhere.

Losing those guys would be enough to put us picking top 10 or higher, then you can begin the QB carousel. Hit rate is like 25%.... GL

Are Dak, Ceedee and Micah the reason we lost last year? What would’ve happened if those guys were on the 49ers last year? If you get rid of them, then you’ll just need to replace them. And if they’re not the reason we lost, then we’ll still lose even after we replace those guys.

Jerry turns 82 in about 6 weeks. He’s soon to pass Al Davis as the oldest GM in NFL and sports history. Being 82 probably also reduces some of the wind in his sails.

Why not cut dak?
Why not start lance?
Why not trade Ceedee for a first and a second?
Why not trade Micah for a first and third in 25 and first in 26?
What could we do with all those picks and all that freed up cap space.
None of these guys have proved they can win in playoffs, so why continue to pay them?
Bc Jerry has never been willing to hit the reset button. There is no organizational football philosophy or "cowboy way" of doing things. We are a rudderless ship adrift in the NFL. We play in a weak division and that's been masking a lot of problems that you can't hide in the playoffs.

We won't have to tank on purpose. We won't have the 3rd easiest schedule that we've had the past couple years.....no quality FAs, players defected, lame duck coaches and players and several disgruntled players.

The ingredients are all here for a down season. Should be a decent enough draft spot to move up into the top 8 or better by giving away picks or trading a certain player that's one year away from being very disgruntled

Rock do you have the ability to use a search engine? That‘s where you start if you want to do your own homework.
Bob, you posted the 4 threads so you know which one … oh just forget it. You don’t want to own up to misquoting the Jones.

I thought tanking was only allowed in the NBA so you get more ping pong balls in the “ lottery “ ….

You trade Dak, not cut him. And for all those who say he has a No Trade Clause I call Bs on that, he will go anywhere that will pay him $60m gauranteed!
BS. The point of the demand for the no trade / no tag language is so he could decide where he continues his career. He’ll get the pay he wants and play where he wants. Right now only a very few teams can consider acquiring him. Next March more teams can consider it. More suitors (bidders), more money. That’s 30 weeks away. He didn’t put up with Jerry Jones and an ungrateful fanbase all these years just to quit this close to the finish line. He gets what he wants from the Cowboys now, or gets what he wants from an organization that suits him later. No “BS on that”.
