Wild Speculation: Tank Going Rogue

Actually, LT didn't even have that latitude. Parcells/Belichick yelled at him after he got a sack. I'm just pointing out that defenders do break plays.
He may have yelled at him, but he probably added the play. lol Still, there's a big difference between LT going against the coach on one play, and our whole defense going against the coaches for most of a game.

How?

Is Sean Lee calling the defense?

How could players pull this off without coaches consent to do so?

This.

Someone has got to call the play. If everyone just wings it, you get crushed.

Most credible scenario is that the players started balking and Richard adjusted the play calling.

Maybe starting with the DBs telling Richard they were going to play press, and Richard made the calls for it.

The rumor is reminiscent of Cooper and Dak going rogue to get a TD pass last year. That you can do without the coaches help.

But maybe Lee (or someone) was making similar on the field audibles? Defenses must be able to do that. Maybe that was really happening.

First they tank on purpose, then they actually try to win and kick butt!! This is a clear message to the coaches and Jerry, we need better direction next year.

You managed to squeeze two unsubstantiated theories into one sentence, putting the other CZ theorists to shame.

Taco Charlton has 5 sacks in 403 snaps. “Tank” has 5 sacks in 635 snaps.

When you factor in that teams usually take the lead on the Dolphins and may not pass as much the comparison is worse.

Lawrence is an overrated player.

The entire thread is now moot. The part of the show that I missed explaining, “Tank going rogue” was about the coin toss...

You guys can say this as much as you want but it doesn’t make it true lol.

It happens. The defense was definitely playing differently though. Hopefully we see it again Sunday.

It makes sense. If you look at the sounds from the sideline K Richard actually tells Dbs okay if you guys are gonna press use outside leverage. The Dbs actually went and dictated to the coaches what scheme they were gonna play. I wonder if KR is undermining Maranelli.

If this was the result then we can only hope!
Marinelli has to go

Now that would be a story.

The only thing I would guess they could do is jam receivers when coaches want them off the ball.

it sounds like it would be a mess.

if true that would be a real story. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard that being done before
That is how TDs like Cooper vs the Giants happen. Half the field is thinking it’s one coverage and other guys think it’s another. You CANT have defenses freelancing.

Because the players take the field and the coaches don't. I used to tell my boss that if he wanted things done his way he should do them himself. Cause if I'm doing it, I'm doing it my way.

This morning on the way to work while listening to 105.3 The Fan they were saying, “Tank went Rogue” and they decided to play a real defense out there. I caught the tail end of this but the context was implying they stopped listening to the coaches and played it differently than normal..

None of this playing “not to lose” scared conservative holding back stuff but actually “playing to win...”

First they tank on purpose, then they actually try to win and kick butt!! This is a clear message to the coaches and Jerry, we need better direction next year. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out or if this is really going on....

Could it be? Is it really happening?

This game was the opposite of the defense going rogue.

They finally played as a unit with LBs and DL in sync.

Gotta be some stupid idea someone on the show had. The Rams' last two drives, the defense went into prevent mode, so I don't think they were ignoring the coaches. It's not like Lee said, "Screw them, I'm gonna intercept the ball!"
I thought that prevent defense was total crap. I don't understand why coaches like prevent defense. When Ur up by almost thirty, why do you even consider it. I'd be thinking , let's take the ball back and score again! Prevent defense doesn't work with time on the board, NFL coaches understand how to attack it.
