Serious question: With Trey Lance and Dak Prescott, will the Cowboys cut/release Cooper Rush as the roster tightens?
They may do it as a favor to him to allow him to find another team who needs a stable backup rather than keeping him as a third string emergency option.
No, Dunno if Dak gets hurt in reg season, you'd like to have that QB insurance with a guy that knows the offense and in rapport
with surrounding players.

what if Lance flames out in the summer- preseasons and shows he is not ready to step in as emergency replacement backup ?

And that also saves you from having to resort to off street Nucci types

so rush is 5-1. he gets credit for the wins. so Dak is 12-5 as a starter last year. he gets credit for the 12 wins? right?
yes. btw, I am not a Dak hater. Imo, Dak is our best option this next season at QB for having a playoff caliber team.
Some say we need to flop in order to get a high draft pick to use for a QB.
I don't have the confidence in jerruh and steven to think they can develop a high draft picked QB, and assemble a team around him that would be good enough to be any better than what we've been the last 3 seasons. jmo.

He had one good game. You must have watched them. By the 6th game he was a total liability.
Umm…he managed the offensive side of the ball such that the team was in every game, including the Philadelphia one which was 20-17 at one point despite throwing multiple picks. So I don’t know what you mean by he had just “one good game”. As a backup QB that is what he’s expected to do.

I might have been harsh. He had 1 good game. 2 pretty good games. 1 not so good game. 1 absolute trash game.

You don’t honestly think he is a viable QB right? If DCs had to work on him he would be absolutely shut down.

He won like Tebow won, on a wing and a prayer.

The obvious move is to cut Rush. We're not going to carry 3 QB's, so if we don't put Trance on the roster, what was the point of the trade?

Too late to do anything now other than pray Lance does something in camp. We'll see what happens in preseason. If he's not the answer we need to upgrade in 2025 in FA and/or the draft.
The best 2025 QB FA will be DAK.

The Cowboys WERE a better team with Rush. Because he could actually lead the offense on the field, the defense could play more balanced. The Cowboys didn't need as many points because Rush moved the ball on almost every drive, keeping the opposing offense off the field.
That made the Cowboys better.
You're using a four or five game sample size. The Cowboys defense carried Rush to those wins. There was no way they could sustain holding teams down like they did.

Also, if Rush is the answer, why did nobody sign him in free agency? The Bengals offered him a backup job and he accepted a deal with Dallas last year for little more than a veteran minimum.

Let's not pretend we know more than 32 NFL front offices. The only reason Rush gets love on this forum is because it says RUSH on the back of his jersey instead of PRESCOTT. The sooner people admit that instead of lying to themselves that Rush is a better quarterback, the better.

No; let's say we do know more than most of them. The NFL is no longer the last word in talent evaluation. They miss more than they hit.
The defense was better with Rush because they didn't have to do as much. Rush would at the least give the Cowboys better field position, and that took pressure off of the defense. Rush may not have as strong of an arm as some quarterbacks in the NFL, but he had better leadership and quarterback skills than Dak and a few more.

Those 169 rushing yards led to points for SF. They drove the ball down our throats on their opening drive for a TD. You’re so blinded by your Dak hate you keep ignoring our defense that was GARBAGE. SF controlled the ball for 34 minutes keeping our offense off the field. Jimmy G didn’t have to do much but hand the ball off. When he did throw we couldn’t get any pressure on him. He was sacked ZERO times! Keep ignoring the defense.
No they won because Dak sucks and his TOs are in scoring territory, meaning he gift points . They controlled the clock, becayse Dak was 5-15 on third down one one game and 5-14 the other game.

They controlled the clock because we suck against the run. Can’t believe anyone would defend our defense that’s been terrible in the playoffs.

No they controlled the clock because Dak gifted points and 49ers have zero need to push the tempo, knowing Dak implodes when he isn’t gifted a lead by his defense off TOs and the opposing defense sucking.

Sorry you lost me at the first sentence.

Too bad the people on this forum are too busy doing other things when they could run an NFL franchise and win Super Bowls by the armful with Cooper Rush becoming the next Tom Brady.
