Will Dez ever be elite again?

Did anyone see the route that Dez basically jogged down the sidelines in the 1st Half, Dak was targeting him as the first read but pulled it in when he saw Dez not running the route, that wont help the chemistry and Dak is running the offense nad I don't think he has a problem telling people. So if Dez doesn't go 100% every route he will never build the trust with Dak. I think Dez has to get in his head the offense doesn't revolve around him and that he is not the best player on the team and just needs to go 100% every down. I only got to watch redzone so didn't hear any comments on the play or saw anything else.

That was probably the route that Garrett got onto him about during the game.

At some point, Dez Bryant's ability to make the very hard catch, will turn a game or two. He is the best available for just those situations.

I do agree that since Dez got paid he has been injured and not the same player, lets not forget this guy was living with one of the staff or a mentor and after he got paid he moved out on his own. So that may be distracting him from 100% football focus. Who knows but Dez has to learn to play hard until the whistle blows. And yes he had a few drops today and only 1 catch but Dez is not a possession receiver who grinds out the yards, he is a big play threat and if you ignore that he will get behind the coverage and score so defences need to pay attention to him and he does draw the defense top corners. Dez is Dez and his production isn't much more or different to Williams and no one is bagging him. So I guess when you get the big contract you get the big spot light. We need to draft a real speedster in the Draft who can really stretch the field, that will compliment the offense.

Also no one talking about Escobar? that two tight end set at the goal line can be effective with the running game we have. Nice to see him get a catch and a td, maybe he is getting healthy and getting his speed back

Yup he's done as an elite WR. He's still good and a #1 in this league but I don't see him as having the potential to be an all-time great anymore.

Why do you assume a poor completions-to-targets ratio is strictly the result of a receiver not playing well?

In short samples you are correct. A receiver or a quarterback can be at fault for an incompletion.

At some point...you have to ask questions
2016...41% completion rate compared to around 70% for all other Cowboy targets. (8 games)
2015...43% completion rate compared to over 65% for all other Cowboy targets (9 games)

Dez generally has good hands. So we can exclude that from the issue. I'm open to hearing theories.

Dak had a QB rating of just over 140 today...Dez will be in the mix, strongly, before directions are settled.

Witten had a catch rate of 74% in 2015. Insert coin. Try again.

Witten also averaged just 9.3 YPC, the lowest of his career.

Your theory is tilted.

Beyond that, if you understand the game, guys like Witten and Beasley will typically have higher percentage catch rates due in large part to the types of routes they run. Neither Witten or Beasley are running lower percentage deeper routes.

Yes it was a fantastic win. We are having a great season. We didn't fall into a trap game and we took care of business and kicked *** in what would have mormally been a let down game.

You are incorrect about having nothing to complain about. That is why so many are complaining about it. This isn't new with Dez. I doubt that many here would complain if this was a recent phenomenon with Dez.

I am EXPECTING Dez to come out of this weak *** bull**** and to get his **** together. He is paid to do that. Hopefully we can praise him for winning a big game with a great game by him soon. You don't pay great salaries for a non performer. Hopefully Dex gets back on track.
We can win without Dez being elite, which says a lot for the rest of our offensive team and especially receivers. Dez should have received a couple PI calls. My only concern, and I'm concern instead of complaint because I'm not going to complain about anything today, is when Dez didn't get the PI calls it looked like it messed with him mentally.

But to Dez's credit, you can't measure a players performance strictly on stats. The wide open Beasely touchdown, Dez took 2 defenders with him which caused Beasely to be left completely wide open. So you got to look at some of the things he does when he doesn't touch the ball as well as look at things when he does touch the ball.

But we won, our offense is rolling, Dez is having an erratic season, Dez is having more bad games than good games, but we're winning and Dez is a part of that winning so he's contributing in some way; either by catching the ball, or blocking or commanding double teams which frees up Beasely for his TD and Witten for his 100+yards and a TD.

This will be the test of Dak's leadership and command of the team and so far he is passing with flying colours because he handles Dez and I believe Dak will Dez on board but it will take a few more games for the chemistry to click, Dez was Tony's #1 target other than Witten and Dez had first looks a lot. Now Dez is just part of the mix and right now he hasn't blended in completely that means we have upside to our offense which is scary.
