Will Dez ever be elite again?

I wouldn't say his "Elite" days are over. He still has that ability. He did lose focus early in the game by possible penalties not flagged during passes to HIM. Started arguing with the ref, etc. He got his act together & the team did the rest. He'll have more games like this as the season progresses. He'll also have games where "Elite" will once again apply to him.

Right now I wouldn't bet against Dez to return to greatness. But I do think that it is somewhat likely that his consistently great days may be behind him. We are paying for past production, not current production.

You claimed I said Dak was a bust after week 1 which is complete BS. I defended his game after week one. lol I challenged you to an avatar bet to find a post where I called him a bust and you're backing down. What does that tell everyone? LOL I'll even make it a cash bet. Go find any post where I'm claiming or insinuating Dak was a bust after week one and I'll put a mule's ace as my avatar.

I think the loss in week one were on Dez, the BEaz drop and coaching, not necessarily in that order.

The bottom line is Dez isn't going to produce with Dak like he did with Romo.

Lol did you guys forget how Beasley got so wide open? Dez still dictates coverage schemes

That was a coverage bust. There's no defense in the league that leaves a receiver uncovered to double another.

It certainly wasn't on Dak, I thought he played a good game especially considering it was his first NFL start. Dez had a TD throw that he caught but he didn't hang onto it when he hit the ground.

The next thing you know someone will post a highlight reel of Dez from the 2014 season, claiming he's still an elite receiver and these highlights prove it. lol

The Dez apologists are somewhat incapable of acknowledging his weaknesses or his bad games. My biggest problem is his weak mindedness and his effort.

I don't think a single bad game makes him a bad player. A team can scheme a player to really limit his effectiveness s

It's wasn't primarily on Dak for sure. I think Dak was a bit hampered because they coaches had the reins pulled a bit too tight on him.

Dez is a head case who's easily frustrated. It's not passion it's frustration.

Dak did enough to win the opener but Dez's drop turned out to be the difference.

Why is this concept so hard to understand. We have so much talent on Offense that's its impossible for everyone to put up stellar performances every week. You guys keep comparing Dez to Julio and Aj green numbers but you fail to realize both of their offense run through them. Our offense starts with the running game. It's like expecting Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to still average their same numbers even though they added Durant to the equation

Dez still looks elite physically. He's running well and fighting for yards on the field. He has these occasional games where he loses focus or fights the ball. He will rebound and make some excellent catches next week. Today he didn't look good.

I agree. I think it's fair to say that Dez may not be a perfect fit for this particular version of the Cowboys. But he can still contribute. Fans get mad when a player's production doesn't match his contract, but that's not important right now.
I agree to an extent. But you do need the ones who are paid to produce.

From what I see with Bryant, he should not be less influential with how the run game is clicking.

Dez has become very inconsistent. He looked solid last week and bad this week.

He faced Haden, a very good corner today.

And he came up small.

Eventually, he is going to need to show up bigger.

I get there might be some design issues involved, but I still had that play where he loafed that bugs me still.

Really?.....again I point to him having the same results and TRomo....injuries of course, but he ain't the only one wearing a ski mask on Pay Day right now.

I agree with that. But how does that justify giving Dez a pass?

It's not too early to hit the panic button on Dez. He's a shell of what he was from 2010-2014, and we aren't seeing signs he'll recover to that level. His catch percentage has fallen off a cliff the last two seasons.

His days as a great receiver may be over.

Since the haters can't hate on Romo or Garrett or Jones anymore it's Dez's turn. Haters gotta hate.

Dez has had two games this season with only one catch. He didn't have a single one catch game in 2014 and had only one 1 catch game playing injured last season. If anyone is unhappy with Dak at QB it's probably Dez.

The bottom line is Dez isn't going to produce with Dak like he did with Romo.

The bottom line could be that he won't produce as well with either as he has historically has.

The other receivers seem to be doing pretty well with Dak. Why do you think, comparatively speaking, Dez is playing so much worse than the other receivers on the team?
