27 WS wins
A team this year that it's theme is " the little engine that could"
7 World Series wins in my lifetime

No matter what.l... He/the orioles ain't got nothing on me. Lol

Where are you? Lol

Orioles might be getting used to this "sweep" thing....

Where's @WPBCowboysFan ??

Ive been trying to find out where to get some of the undetectable pixie dust that Tex & A-Fraud are using this year. It mite help the Orioles. They're performing like everyone expected the Yankees to do this year and the Skanks are doing what everyone expected the Orioles to do. That house of cards n the Bronx is still standing but with 2 more months to go it can still crash ad burn quickly.

Looks like Abomb and Tex message are just going slow and steady. Girardi is definitely manager of the year again. He is managing and micromanaging these player perfectly!

It's not hate for you or the giants or even me.... It's a scar from Jeffrey Mayer back in 1996.

Wow....that is almost 20 years.

I grew up in the Washington DC area. Lived there for 30 years. In the mid to late 80's the Giants and LT made life bearable for us Cowboy fans living there as they would keep the Skins in check. I dont really hate the Giants for that reason. I actually liked Parcells and watching those teams. Always like Bavaro. I absolutely hate the Skins & Eagles. I always want to pummel the Giants but dont hate them. I do think Eli is a goofball and think him getting 2 rings is one of the greatest crimes in all of sports history.

As far as the Yankees I always liked them before the Jeter era. I used to collect autographs and have quite a few Yankees players. Obtained in person just to name a few, Ron Guidry, Billy Martin, Jack Clark, Steve Sax, Ricky Henderson, and quite a few Don Mattingly. I have a bat that I had him sign. Have a picture with him and Jack Clark standing together and both signed it. There are others like Willie Randolph and Chris Chambliss, Matt Nokes, etc. Frank Howard when he was a batting coach.

But now I have no respect for the Yankees since the mid 90's. Jeter is the most over rated player in the history of pro sports. You guys have 5 PED rings. As Ive gotten older I find it hard to respect them because they spend the most money trying to buy championships. The guy that spends the most every year should win every year, yet they fail 3 out of every 4 years. I look more at their failure rate than any perceived success. And now you look at Tex & A-Fraud and even Stevie Wonder can see these old guys playing far above what they should be, so its pretty obvious that they are getting some help.

As arrogant and obnoxious as most NYers and Yankee fans are, the Yankee fans arent as bad as the typical Pink Hat Nation fans from NE - Bosux. That doesnt mean the typical Yankee fan is "ok" just not as bad as Sux fans. So I dont hate you.

Ill say this, the only negative to be a fan of the Cowboys is you get front runners in the fan base. Im a Cowboys fan because Im a Texan, born in Dallas. But we get a fair amount of fans that are Cowboys "fans" and also fans of the Skankees and Lakers. Front runners, but we let em be part of the family despite their flaws.

I was listening to Baltimore sports radio the other day and a guy called who is obviously a regular. The hosts were teasing him about being a front runner. He's from NY. He likes the Cowboys, Yankees, Lakers, Notre Dame football & Duke basketball. Thats the type of red headed step children we accept into our family of Cowboys fans.

Wow

I enjoyed reading your story WPB. A very good post. I respect that. Not sure if it will make you feel good but I also don't like Jeter or don't respect Jeter. I have my reasons and I won't get into it.

About front runners. As long as their love is genuine for their teams, I respect them. But if they are fair weather fans then I will have no respect for them.

Kids get attached to a team when they grow up. So if a New York kid watched the Cowboys in 90's and Yankees at the same time, there is nothing wrong for that kid to become a Cowboys fan and a Yankees fan. I am not really rigid.

Im all over the map on teams I root for. Cowboys & Dolphins. Orioles, and then the Cardinals and even Tigers and Rangers. Capitals and Red Wings. Used to like the Bullets but now if I acknowledge basketball its the Heat I guess. College football, Maryland, the U and Michigan, and a lil Texas and UCLA. College hoops - MARYLAND.

I was born in TX, but grew up in MD. My grandparents lived in Miami so I spent time there as a kid and now live in Florida. My mom is from Michigan. So for me the Cardinals are really the only team I dont have some kinda tie to. I always liked the 2 redbirds on the bat.

You guys are BOTH crazy. Lol

I didn't start as a BIG fan of Jeter... I was more yankee/team fan.... But seriously...the guy MADE HIMSELF a winner. No real baseball "people" for lack of a better name will agree with you guys. None.

Only Cal Ripken expresses "luck" when it comes to Jeter and complimenting him. He's jealous. Jeter had great teams... And he knew that... And he set the table.... He got the "clutch" hits that the "GREAT" AROD can't seem to get.

Like I said I didn't start as a big fan of jeter.... And not that he had to but he has proven himself over and over to be worthy and deserving of "great" icon status.

He is truly and once in a lifetime player.

More people need to take a page out of Jeters book.

No hate.... On RE2PECT!

Ps. Lawrence Taylor was/is great. Issues and all.

Hey Red

Last year after the Yankees season started, they asked Jeter how he found the Yankees. He said he didn't know because he wasn't watching them.

This is a guy that was made a billionaire by people like me. I remember times I was taking my kid to the Stadium to cheer for him. And this is how he responds? You are not watching Yankees now that you aren't on the team? I don't like him. He is overrated as a person. Great baseball player but not so great person for me.

That may very well be the cases bot really a secret. There have been stories over the years that he is maybe not a great person, maybe just perceived differently. He is in the by spotlight so he sees things differently. By no means is he godly. But the pros of Jeter outweigh that stuff for me.... For many...

Maybe he can't watch or says he won't watch because it's still new... New, not being on that field. 20 years plus... Like a x girlfriend that you see too soon after a split. Even if she was ugly but good.... Lol

So back to the not such a great person.... I think he just portrays badly as a person. He has turn 2 foundation and visits children and such... Plus the stuff we don't know about.

Jeter
2+7-2=5 World Series.
I'm good!

say what you want about Jeter but that throw he made in the World Series several years ago where he caught it around the first base line and flipped it to the catcher was legendary. Not sure how he is as a person. He cant be any worse than Emmitt Smith who played the "dont you know who I am" line when trying to pick up my daughter several years ago. Or Wade Boggs who tried to pick up my wife 30 years ago while he was married. Most ball players have the morals of a snake so who knows what qualifies for a good person in this day and age. And even a universally perceived good person somewhere has someone that thinks they are a-hole

This is pretty much it Rob.

Players don't really have my respect. I never get attached to them. My one son is a Giants fan and he adores Odell Beckham Jr. He has his pictures and stuff in his bedroom. My other son is a Cowboys fan and he has a big love for Romo. I try to tell my kids this all the time. Love your team. But never fall in love with players. Most of the time, they are not worth your love. That's pretty much my philosophy but I might be wrong.

Trusted Source:

Gary Thorne, the voice of the Baltimore Orioles believes that they are done and CANNOT overcome their issues. Says they will soon start packaging players for trades, etc

Orioles are finished. Never got over that 4 game sweep. It carried over from last year.
