Will you continue to be a Cowboys fan and why

I've been a fan since I can remember and that was when I was around 5 years old and I'm 56 now. For me it's not about staying a fan as much as if I will even bother to have anything to do with them until Jerruh is gone

I will never change teams. But I will change my buying habits when it comes to the cowboys merchandise. I cannot continue to line Jerry's pocket and care about winning more than him and the players on this team.

Just curious to hear if anyone has decided to officially change teams and why

I’m 48 so it’s to late for me, ive suffered for decades but if I was young I would cut my losses now
Once you choose a team, you should stick with 'em. Pretty much the posters on this board have already stuck with this team, no fair weather, band wagon fans here. I mean after all these years of mediocrity, would someone now decide to switch?

Done. 50 years of faithfully eating **** from haters and bearing infuriating L’s like today is OVER. This franchise can kiss my ***.
I’m with you.

I’ve got to witness five SB wins.

This franchise is shot.

I’m vesting my sports time in another direction.

He's a scary thought... When I was 36 Dallas was already 6 years removed from their win in super bowl 30. I'm now 58 and would have never thought that 22 more years would pass and I would still be waiting for this franchise to pull their heads out of their butts.
That must have been pretty cool to see a dynasty in your 20s.

That would have totally skewed my perception of this franchise.

Instead, all I really know is Jerry Jones failures

I’m becoming less and less invested, especially after that 2016 heartbreaker. I actually decided to not even watch today because I didn’t want to see another humiliating home loss to the Packers. I’m happy with my choice. I’ll probably watch less and less going forward. Honestly I could run this team better than Jerry.

The memories of times past. If I were younger, I would no longer be a fan.
Makes sense.

I think there’s a George Carlin joke about fandom— “you’re rooting for laundry!” or something like that. It’s funny but not quite accurate. Teams are more than just colors and logos.

But it does make me think… what is this team nowadays?

For me, a younger fan, it’s just a Jerry Circus with new pieces every so often. And as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized I despise the man and everything he stands for.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I’ve always thought it might be harder to watch a once proud franchise become a glitzy laughingstock under Jones.

But I guess the memories kind of keep that tether to the old glory? I’m genuinely curious.

I don’t see myself watching much next year. I have to figure how to transition from being hard core fan of 46 years to a casual. Hardcore defined as scheduling life events around game times. I will never do that again as long as Jerry still runs team. I’m going to look back on my death bed and realize I wasted an enormous amount of time following this flaming clown car franchise . Fishing trips, walks in the park with my wife and dogs, camping , car shows . It’s not worth it anymore . I’d much rather do other things than be miserable on Sundays.

Could never root for another team, its just silly to suddenly change teams. However, you do have to question how much time you put into this outlet of entertainment. I'm debating if I should just follow casually and if I miss games so be it.

Devoting 50+ hours to games alone plus the time talking about it and reading about it is a lot during the regular season that doesn't mean anything for this team.

Still my team. I'm a Cowboy fan so my football watching a full game ended today. Been a loyal fan too long.

But I'm also lucky enough to have seen all the championships and great playoff wins. I joked 10 years ago when I was 48 that I probably wouldn't live to see a Cowboy SB much less a NFC championship game.....and yet here I am at 58 and that really could be a reality.

I'll be 41 in March and my enthusiasm is at an all time low. I won't jump to another team but I'm at the point to where I don't care anymore. I'm completely burned out.

They just aren't fun to watch anymore between the penalties, mental errors, bone-headed Decisions by coaches, making the same mistakes over and over. Early playoff exits every year. That wears on you. It's simply not fun to sit down and watch the Cowboys anymore.

Yup.

I like football a lot, and I like talking about football.

The lead up to the games is honestly the best part. But the 3 hours on game day?

With 2 very young kids, I don’t have a ton of TV time. I just don’t think the Cowboys are worth that time slot anymore

Of course, I couldn't realistically care about another team.

I'm just never, ever having any kind of optimism about them again.

No need to change for us old heads. I have become numb to this losing, just look at the playoff record since Switzer.
I can say I will not pay to attend any game the Cowboys are in but will be a television spectator only. I can always turn the channel when things go to crdo and not lose a penny. Jerry has ruined this organization

I am 52. Been a fan for 44/45 years. The losses definitely don’t bother me as much anymore. I am pretty numb to it but this one is getting to me in other ways. I wonder what’s the point? I turned the game off in the second quarter and took my dog for a nice walk. Much happier. I despise Jerry Jones. Outside of hiring Harbaugh I will have very little interest next year. The whole thing needs to be blown up. Trade Parsons. Let Dak walk. Every roster spot is up for grabs.
I’m the same age and you summed it up perfectly.
