So are we to assume that Woodson is the only veteran that has had to show a young rookie the ropes?

I think you are reaching a little bit here.

It would be interesting to see what the coaches at Oklahoma think as far as Roy's diligence and study habits.

This is what Stoops said after Roy announced that he was going to turn pro, if it helps any.

http://www.oklahomasports.com/Sooners/Football/2002season/RoyWilliamsgoespro.htm

OU head coach Bob Stoops made this statement: "Our whole coaching staff is excited and happy for Roy and we agree that he's prepared and ready for the NFL. He's played the last two years of college football at the highest level. He's a driving force behind our 24-2 record during that time and we believe he'll be a dominant player at the professional level. We look forward to watching him and cheering for him in the NFL. We have such good feelings for Roy. He's an exceptional person."

maikeru, no, im not reaching, each year roy's play has regressed and regressed, why, when a darn good pro football safety has to call out roy williams about film study, sneaking out, in 2004, and roy was no longer a rookie in 2004, he was a 3 year vet,

like parcells said that tom landry told him 3 keys things, and one of them, a player should show something by his 3rd year;

what im saying if roy has been skipping out on film study, and darren had to call him on it, mind you call him on it, then something is wrong when that player says it has been a dream of his to be a dallas cowboy player; yet he doesnt put in the extra work, the study, the film, the offseaoning conditioning

and each year, roy has an excuse, time for excuses are over, jerry jones has spent a ton of money last 3 years getting talent in dallas, improving them, it s time for the players to step up, but NO, ROY GOES OFF ON VACATION, WHEN HE COULD HAVE RESCHEDULED, HE KNEW LIKE THE OTHER PLAYERS WHEN OTAS ARE,

if a player keeps makes excuses, eventually he believes it, thats it someones elses fault, but yours,

so to me, its put up or shut up time for roy, and after newman said what he said, and so did bradie james, and now newman, plus ellis telling him you got to, play in this defense;

then, thats more than one player saying it like it is, so its TIME FOR ROY TO PUT UP OR SHUT UP!!!!!!!!

Actually as you should already know Roy scheduled his vacation BEFORE the OTA schedule was set. OTAs were held first week of June last year.

His vacation was a cruise and although most want Roy to be all powerful I doubt he could get a cruise ship to change their sail date

The level of bickering and in-fighting on this board is pretty common for the sports boards I visit. The tone of the bickering here is a lot more good-natured than most, though. There are a few posters who I suspect really don't like each other, but generally everyone gets along.

I'm guilty of getting out of hand with condescending insults at times. You start out just trying to keep the board a smart place to get good information, and then somehow devolve into pointed comparisons to high-functioning retards. It's a slippery slope. All it takes is one low-brow knuckle-dragging Skins fan to come sauntering along with a Jason Campbell comment to put everything right, though.

Maybe you're right and it's just a sports thing, the mods do a great job of shutting stuff down when people get carried away so I can't say I've ever read anything that came close to actually offending me. Maybe it's just the nature of the subject.

If everybody agreed, this would be an extremely boring place.

It's not even about agreeing. It's possible to disagree with someone and understand what they are trying to say. But for that to happen, both sides have to be willing to take that approach, and that never happens around here.

Now I'm really offended! ;)

Brown nosing isn't really a skill I posses, especially when there's nothing to even gain by kissing ***. :D

Mosely's fixin to discuss this article on 103.3 in a few minutes, after the next break, I think.

He actually teased it by saying his article has "sent shock waves around the league". It's true-- I give it 7.8 on the Zone alone based on the tsunami of debates it has spurred on this board alone.

Matt Mosley has an overly high opinion of himself.

--Mosely talked to ppl at Valley Ranch who assured him he will be around this year. Next yr, all bets off. Just repeated what he wrote.

-- Nate Newton loves french fries

--Talked to Woodson who accepts blame for not teaching Roy enough. Woody regrets this. (This was not conveyed well in the article imo.)

--Believes Roy was embarrassed by Greg Ellis' comments re workout habits.

-- Someone(?) talking about Roy might be "Brainwashed" by church, per a confidential team source. (Oh, boy, talk about a can of worms!)

--Nate says Roy needs more drills, emphasized chemistry aspect of his position. Needs work according to Nate. Would talk to him about it.
more coming

--Mosely discussing "thin-skinned" Roy now. No comment about it really. Nobody objecting to the characterization.

I think he throws stuff like that out there while giggling. At least that's my take.

No. That was in response to what he would do, as posed by Mosely. Didn't get the impression he would act on it.

I'm interested in knowing if that's what they're getting at, because if so, it's totally misguided. There are and have been plenty of Christians in pro football and that hasn't stopped them from having a mean streak on the field or from playing at a high caliber.

i'm sure they're or have been plenty of religious players who lost a mean streak when they found god or found him again and were "reborn". if you're into rock music you should know what i mean.

It's just one guy's theory. I'm more intrigued with who the source is myself.

Maybe more concerned about preaching in the locker-room than paying attention to football and learning the game while at work?
It could just be a comment of the overall attitude of Roy after he started getting involved with that particular church.
