I've never enjoyed a season watching the game as much as I have this one. I don't think I've ever seen a team combine joy and toughness together the way this team has.

Witten running down the field 40 yards without a helmet.

Barber stiff arming Rodney Harrison right out of his senses.

Romo not falling on the ball and gaining a first down from 30 yards deep. Him winking at defenders.

Everyone smiling.

I don't know, its just infectious for me. I can't help it.

...the seating is pre-arranged and the boys aren't allowed out of their seats unless it a commercial for a potty break or halftime to do chores.

They are actually even more hyped about the games than I am.

Funny since they are Atlanta Falcons fans.

It was painful to see my oldest son take down his Michael Vick poster and put away his Vick jersey this September. When they are young and they have a true love for a team and a player it's hard to see them hurt in that way.

Good life lesson.

Another thing about the team having fun... I was watching the highlights of the game and they showed the high-fives from Romo last week and this week. Wade Phillips was smiling after Romo gave him the soft high-five. I think Phillips has smiled more this season than Parcells did in his 4 years here. Granted, Phillips has more to smile about, but that kind of attitude rubs off. The team is enjoying this season. We should, too.

Like alot of you on here, I've been a cowboy fan for 30+ years. All of us know the ups and downs that this team has been through.

The late 80's when things went downhill pretty fast. Then a new owner and coach, 1-15, life as a cowboy fan was hell.

But things got better........much better :)

The 90's were great and we knew it.

In 2001, 1/3 of our cap was dead money and we had the players to show for it. I remember a beat down we took in philthydelphia. I remember my wife asking me how I could stand to watch. I remember looking at her and saying, "I want to remember this, so when we're back on top again and we return the favor......it will be that much sweeter".

We returned that favor about 3 weeks ago.......god it was sweeter then I ever imagined.

But how I felt 3 weeks ago is just a snapshot of how I've felt all season. This is a great season and we've had many in the past.

I remember looking at the huddle, seeing Staubach, knowing we had a chance to win.

I remember looking at the huddle, seeing Aikman, knowing we had a chance to win.

I look at that huddle now, see Romo and know we always have that chance to win.

You younger guys, remember these games. You'll look at them 30 years from now the way some of us look at the Staubach lead cowboys.

These are the good times, savour them.

I wonder what happened to joy after winning?

I'm not talking about the over the top "we're better than sex" stuff. Just the joy, gladness, happiness, or whatever you want to call it.

This is the strangest season I've ever experienced. The team has never played this well as far as wins and losses, yet after every game it seems like the focus is on what is wrong more than anything else.

Some of that isn't bad. Some of it is just plain deflating. It started with the first game of the year and it hasn't abated one bit. Each week someone feels the need to remind everyone that "its' okay to express doubts about this team." But it's not good to express joy.

At least it doesn't seem like it. I get the feeling a lot of you genuinely dislike each other. I'll be honest, I don't really understand that. I've never met a Dallas fan in my life who wasn't fun to shoot the bull with in person. Yet behind a monitor and keyboard people act like they can't stand each other.

I'm not asking for there to be unadulterated optimism and Koolaid everywhere. But is it too much to ask that some of you at least enjoy it?

It was probably a mistake to post this. It just seems like a lot of you are pissed tonight, and some of you have seemed that way all year. Especially at each other.

If we were in a sports bar we'd be shouting and high fiving. Instead we come back here and treat each other like crap.

Win or lose, the reaction doesn't change much I guess. The petty dislikes are more important than the historical roll the team is on.

Yeah, I bet it was a mistake to post this. But I'm pretty good at making mistakes, so better it be me than someone else. I'll take the reverberations.

Anonymity has it's privileges...

In person, there's something of an obligation not to piss on someone's parade or create contention. Online, it's safe to vent and escape full responsibilty by quitting the browser.

All in all, I think a lot of people are probably negative because of years of getting hopes up, only to see the team fold like origami, making people reticent to fully let loose with their optimism.

It may seem to good too be true, but 10-1 is no joke. Seriously.
Let the human condition do it's thing and take the reluctance for what it is: human nature.

This season has been great. At 10-1 anything less than a Super Bowl appearance will be a dissappointment to me. The joy i feel about my team is awesome. Of course in defeat it will hurt all the more. Maybe some just find negatives to protect themselves from getting hurt.

I'm more cynical than you. I think they write those things so that if it does happen, they can say, see I told you.

I swear when I read this forum after games sometime that we are 1-10 and not 10-1.

I refuse to go to the chat during games due to the idiocy found in there at times. Hell, even the game thread would be funny if it weren't so sad. We sucked in games, 1, 2, 3, 4,,,, at some point in every game. It is pitiful.

Enjoy the ride for God's sake. This is only the second time since 1998 that we have won ten or more games. The game has a great chance to equal or better the franchise season win total set in 1992.

Enjoy it, please.

actually the chat during games is not bad. it's almost like being at a sports bar sharing in the joy and pain of each play. yes, there are some posters who can be quite annoying with doom and gloom, but they are easy to ignore.

This season has been entertaining as hell.

I'm with you man, I just don't see how so many people come running onto the forum this year and talk about "all" the negatives.

Negatives? We are 10-1 and putting up ridiculous numbers but offensively and defensively.

I understand we aren't perfect and there are still problems to be corrected but some act like the sky is falling.

I am just hoping all goes well on Thursday Night versus the Pack... you guys might need to close this place up temporarily.

I love that we're doing so well. I'm ecstatic. To be honest it is the best season I can remember. I was only 4 and 5 during the 92 and 93 Superbowls. I remember watching the 95 Superbowl win but I couldn't appreciate it as much as I do now.

The only thing, and the only thing, that brings me down is the Patriots. Without them we'd be the talk of the NFL and Romo would be the lead MVP candidate. Okay, well that and the fact that no one can shut up about the Packers...

See, I don't really remember the greatness of Aikman. I never got to watch Staubach play. I've never watched a game and believed in our quarterback. I believe Romo is going to get us in the endzone. My most vivid memory of watching Aikman was cringing during his last years, riddled with concussions and false hopes. Yeah I lived through the Dynasty of the 90s, but I never realized what was going on all that much. I was just too young.

All you guys talk about experiencing the great teams of the past. You're fans since the Landry days. I love the history, I worship it.

But this team, well, finally, I feel like it's my team. This is my generation. I can experience what all of you talk about. I hope one day, I'll be talking to my future kids about the glory days of Romo and Witten, just like everyone here talks about the greats of old.

So yeah, I'm having a hell of a ride, because I've realized, this really is the first time I've ever experienced it.

Because NE is sitting there like a turd in the punch bowl waiting to crush our dreams come Super Bowl time.

To be fair on everyone one else in the AFC, there are 15 other teams looking to topple the Pats.

I don't care how well they are playing, the games will still be played and ANYTHING can happen.

So, if what you say is true, those posters need to realize there is a lot of football left in the season and post-season.

The Lombardi trophy is far from New England right now.

So if we make it to the SB and the Pats are there, do we even show up? Should we just mail it in and say "Maybe next year"? :bang2:

Good point. We obviously have no shot to beat them either. Goodell should cancel the rest of the season and the playoffs. Just tell the league that the SB is next week and it's Packers vs Pats.

No, we'd have to play. Then all of the things people complain about will be painfully evident. Unless we discover a way to CONSISTENTLY pressure the QB we are in for it.

And you know what really sucks? And we all know this'll happen:

When we do beat the Pats in the Superbowl, you know, pull the upset? This is what we'll be hearing from the media:

"Well the Pats just had a bad day."

"It was a fluke."

"If they played eachother 10 times, the Pats would have won 9."

But oh well. The Pats and the Cowboys will both end the season at 18-1.

Except we'll have the Lombardi and the Rings to show for it.

We had 3 sacks against Brady when Brady was only sacked a total of 3 times going into our game.

Thats not consistency?

Sacking him 3 times didn't win us the game, dude. We need half a dozen sacks, 8 or 9 knockdowns and a dozen hurries. You know...a MONSTER defense. That's the only way anyone is going to take down NE.

Yeah, we did get to Brady. Hell, he fumbled. We were keeping up with them until the holding call on MB3's run that got called back for holding.
