They have?

Matt Johnson's injury is just day-to-day. He probably won't miss extended time, and he's still competing for the starting job.

Arkin started the game against Miami, and has drawn mostly positive reviews.

I agree. I saw Matt Johnson around the ball an awful lot when he was in there. I saw a guy around the ball, hustling, and he looked pretty fast on the field. And the injury isn't serious.

The jokers who run this team haven't learned anything. If they had, they would have taken a OG & OT instead of a third TE & third or forth string WR- areas of strength last year. Next draft will be the same BS. Maybe when the old man dies, Stephen will grow a brain, but don't count on it.

If that is how you feel about the Cowboys for the long term, then my advice for you is to hit the road and find a team that you can root for.

yah, but you are talking about a SB caliber team. This is a team barely capable of the playoffs. Filling a hole for one year isn't going to amount to anything of consequence.

The last 3 super bowl champs had regular season records of 10-6 (Packers), 9-7 (Giants), and 10-6 (Ravens). Each caught fire in the playoffs...but all 3 just barely made it.

As far as Waters...despite being 36 y/o, he has proven FAR more durable than Livings & the younger Bernadeau. Over the last 5 seasons (through 2011), Waters started 79 out of a possible 80 games and played at a pro bowl level in his last season.

I simply think that they aren't comfortable with the ability of Livings & Bernadeau to both remain healthy and play at a consistent level. Jerry also mentioned that they could wind up being very young on the interior with Frederick and if Leary starts, so they wouldn't mind having a solid vet presence (Moore/now possibly Waters) with them.

I was watching the 2008 Hard Knocks the Cowboys were in and just by watching how giddy Jerry and Stephen were in watching Pac Man go against TO in practice was hilarious, these two are not football men, thay are fans just like the rest of us. I really hope things have changed since then.

If the Cowboys' scouts had the players rated like their board shows, then they made the right choices.

If other players rated lower, such as at OG and OT, turn out to be better than the players Dallas had rated higher and took in the draft, then Dallas needs to make changes to its scouting department. Trust your board and trust your scouts ... if they get it right.

Haha, again, one who wants to criticize but won't put himself out there with an actual explanation of WHO we should have taken. Tell me, what OG or OT should we have taken at 73? We should have reached for Watford? Or drafted an absolutely enormous project in Armstead? Dallas Thomas who just got destroyed by Selvie?

I personally would have taken Barrett Jones there but that is just me. I know he's coming off an injury, but if he regains his form, he has a lot of position flexibility. We showed a lot of patience with Matt Johnson, who was hardly as accomplished.

Maybe, but he would have been a reach at 73 and I've never been a big fan of his. Honestly, after Winters was selected, I wasn't too enamored with any of the remaining OLine prospects outside of Watford, and I'm not sure he would be an immediate contributor. Now, I would have been thrilled with Winters or Warford at 47, but I like Escobar a lot as a prospect, so I can't really complain.

I'll feel a lot better about drafting Escobar if they can finally get the two TE offense going.

If a 36 yr old can get up for 1 season, the Cowboys need to count their blessings and make guard their priority in the draft next year along with safety. They've found out in 2 weeks at camp their best hopes for Arkin/Matt Johnson were what we all thought they were... HOPES

We didn't find anything out about Matt Johnson yet, he's a young kid

guards in name only DUDE.

I haven't the foggiest idea what you mean or why you're shouting "dude" at me like a crazy person.

Livings and Bernadeau are our starting guards, and were both injured at the time of my original post (Bernadeau has since returned to the line-up). Dominguez is a guard, and hasn't lined up anywhere else for us for any significant length of time. Kowalski is the only "swing" player of the four, and he's essentially out of the mix at center now -- he'll play guard or he won't play. I wasn't even including Cook. After those guys, we've got Leary and Arkin left to play guard, and ... basically nobody else. Hence my point.

Winters was picked at #72.

How is 16 months a lot of patience? So many act like Matt Johnson has been on the team for 5 years or something.
