Yes, to raise another SB trophy after almost 3 decades of has-beens. It would have been a no brainer if this organization had a real GM. Unfortunately, JJ is making more money than he knows what to do with it and he doesn't have to answer to anyone for his non-moves.
Some good points here; thanks guys. Now, my last comments before I sign out for the baseball season. In my opinion, Jerry Jones has been a terrible owner; and I give him no credit for the early Super Bowl wins (it was either luck or legacy-players). If he had guts and really loved the Cowboys and their legacy, he would sell the team to a classy owner who cares more about the team than his own ego, than his money, than his art-work, than has fancy stadium, etc. Up north here, I've had to deal with the Patriots legacy and family-joking of my Cowboys-love for decades. But I can't deny the fact that Kraft is the perfect owner. His record for success is incredible.
However, for the past several seasons, I can't blame JJ's meddling for the Cowboys' playoff-failure (not to say he did not play a part, though; I just did not see it as mjch), nor can I blame Coach McCarthy. Instead, both Prescott and Elliot have prematurely soured, after such tremendous promise in their early years. I'm not sure many could have predicted that, but I do believe OTHER, very smart coaches and GM's would have sensed it; and cut off the big contracts several years ago, one way or another. Prescott, as I've said before, is a terrific guy; with some tremendous stat's and play during the season. (And a very good person. ) However, as a football player, he's a loser when it counts. Nothing against the guy, but I could never put him in the same league with Brady, Rogers, and now, QB's like Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, etc, etc. Elliot, after looking like he was degrading in recent seasons, did quite well this year, when platooning with Pollard (hats off to this guy). But when injury befell Pollard, as we saw this year, Elliot could never take up the slack. One way or the other, both of these guys need to go, despite the long road back to finding new blood.
One last thing: Hats off to that defense, especially against a tough team like San Fran. If they had had a little bit of help from the offense, they would have gone at least one more round.
Have a good summer, everyone!
