You are basically saying go all in! It takes big cash to sign a big free agent or two.

I agree with you. Use the draft, and sign a big free agent or two, when your team is close. Take a calculated risk on a big FA or two!
If that is your definition....then ok.

For me...it has to be the right FAs for a break the bank type deal. Allen would be one of those guys for me. Pay him whatever bc he is young, very productive and fills a huge need.

Wagner would be a medium signing bc he wouldn't get top dollar but would replace LVEs proposed MO ey. So that would be an example of the type of deal we typically wouldn't do but I would.

Then a trade to fill a hole with a semi young player with a couple of years in the league. Knock yourself out in the bargain bin...

Draft well.

I think that gets it done.

Every year two or three teams go "all in". There are no guarantees. If they go "all in" and don't win a Super Bowl, the results could be devastating.
This.

The Saints went all in to maximize the end of Drew Brees' career. It will essentially render them non-competitive from 2021-2024.

Going 'all in' with quality free agents? ABSOLUTELY
or we can continue doing what we're doing and have the 2nd round of the playoffs as our ceiling. We're not going to get anywhere playing it safe so it's time to be SMART and BOLD. You don't throw money at anyone. You throw it at QUALITY

Better to have a chance at winning it all than knowing you won't get past the 2nd round.

the Eagles won a superbowl, fell off and went to the superbowl again and were a td away from having another one. Meanwhile, we haven't gotten to the 3rd round yet. I'm fine with a couple of bad years if it means we may actually win a superbowl.

we should go all in every now and then to win a SB , this is a well known tactic by many teams after FA. You cannot keep everyone after winning a SB unless you have an elite QB like Brady who is willing to give his team a discount to win ,. We don't have that type of QB not a GM with the acumen or long vision to put such a team . Jerry likes a steady flow of winning seasons and hates losing seasons, as it hurts his ego and leads to a declining business volume as a result. Heck the bengals and rams and KC and the eagles , tampa have figured things out while jerry is meandring , in circles.
Yep, unless you have a generational talent at QB like Brady or Mahomes, you will have to go all in. As great as Rodgers was, he only won one due to a frugal gm

Sounds like we have some fans that don’t believe in going all in! Kinda like Jerry.

With our legacy( 5 Superbowl wins and 8 Superbowl appearances) or even without our legacy( the Rams legacy), I would go ALL in with the team we have right now!

Our legacy right now, is just below, New England and Pittsburghs legacies, and equal to the Whiners legacy. Everyone else is looking up at our legacy. This is after 27 LONG years of failure in the playoffs!!

I know some of you don’t think we can win a Superbowl with Dak, but WE can!
I know our D played well in the playoffs, but we all know, it could have played better( the long drive the Whiners had, the Whiners scored easily before the half). The D needs a couple of elite pieces to be a TRULY dominant D. We need an elite run stuffing DT to pair with Hankins, an elite LBer, Bobby Wagner, to free up Micah( add 15 pounds and rush the passer more) and possibly an upgrade at CB, though I do like our young CB’s.

With a few moves for the Defense, we will still have the draft capital, FA, and possible trades to improve our offense( a 2nd receiver, possible upgrades on the O line, and a middle round draft choice to replace Zek)

With a truly DOMINANT D and a strong running game, Dak can JUST drive the bus.

We need to go all in THIS YEAR to STRENGTHEN our LEGACY!

A SUPERBOWL victory puts us at the top of the NFL mountain!!!
Did you miss the day in school when they taught grammar?

It’s not to late for Jerry to change. When he won 3 Superbowls in 4 years in the 90’s, he was not afraid to take chances and make bold moves( see Haley and Deon)!
Its not to late? Really? The word is too late, not to late.

I fear that this front offices idea of "going all in" does not align with the reality of actually "going all in."

Yes, to raise another SB trophy after almost 3 decades of has-beens. It would have been a no brainer if this organization had a real GM. Unfortunately, JJ is making more money than he knows what to do with it and he doesn't have to answer to anyone for his non-moves.
Some good points here; thanks guys. Now, my last comments before I sign out for the baseball season. In my opinion, Jerry Jones has been a terrible owner; and I give him no credit for the early Super Bowl wins (it was either luck or legacy-players). If he had guts and really loved the Cowboys and their legacy, he would sell the team to a classy owner who cares more about the team than his own ego, than his money, than his art-work, than has fancy stadium, etc. Up north here, I've had to deal with the Patriots legacy and family-joking of my Cowboys-love for decades. But I can't deny the fact that Kraft is the perfect owner. His record for success is incredible.

However, for the past several seasons, I can't blame JJ's meddling for the Cowboys' playoff-failure (not to say he did not play a part, though; I just did not see it as mjch), nor can I blame Coach McCarthy. Instead, both Prescott and Elliot have prematurely soured, after such tremendous promise in their early years. I'm not sure many could have predicted that, but I do believe OTHER, very smart coaches and GM's would have sensed it; and cut off the big contracts several years ago, one way or another. Prescott, as I've said before, is a terrific guy; with some tremendous stat's and play during the season. (And a very good person. ) However, as a football player, he's a loser when it counts. Nothing against the guy, but I could never put him in the same league with Brady, Rogers, and now, QB's like Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, etc, etc. Elliot, after looking like he was degrading in recent seasons, did quite well this year, when platooning with Pollard (hats off to this guy). But when injury befell Pollard, as we saw this year, Elliot could never take up the slack. One way or the other, both of these guys need to go, despite the long road back to finding new blood.

One last thing: Hats off to that defense, especially against a tough team like San Fran. If they had had a little bit of help from the offense, they would have gone at least one more round.

Have a good summer, everyone!

The more poplular the team, the more money the owner makes, winning SBs brings in bandwagon fans and re-energizes older fans. For example, myself, I've quit buying Cowboys merchandise until they start winning more playoff games, etc.

You and I don't spend hours and hours a week figuring out how to make more money off the team, but you can bet your bottom dollar Jerry and his people do. If the teams wins another SB, there will be a big influx of money to the team. No doubt about it. And Jerry knows it.
yes all true, but it will be a smaller amount compared to what they make off the home games.
That is why all the owners wanted to extend the season, for more home games.

I think what your talking about is more of a effect with other teams like Cin , the chargers , phil etc.
Cowboys already do well in those areas, where as the other teams not so much.

Did you miss the day in school when they taught grammar?

Did you miss ALL of Kindergarten through college, when they were teaching RESPECT for others?

I have seen hundreds, if not thousands, of grammar mistakes on this site over the last few years, and have NEVER commented on any of them.
What is wrong with you poindexter?

Not sure, I think you confirm my reasoning to be unsure with the caps.

The Rams made 2 SB's in what 6 years and won 1.... this isnt even a question in my mind. If they suck for 2 to 3 years and go back up they will be at 3 in 10 years.....
