that is true, luck be it good or bad has a role in winning games.Any team that wins is lucky. They get lucky with injuries in a 20 game season and with plays like the out of bounds hit on Mahomes against the Bengals. Eagles were handed the 49ers game when Purdy went down. Bengals got the game changing fumble return earlier in the playoffs. Any team that wins gets lucky breaks.
Great post. Not in this day and age. Teams other than the 5 cursed ones (Dallas, Washington, Detroit, Cleveland, and Miami) are able to compete at least once per decade. Some are able to contend, blow up, rebuild, and contend again within 5 years. We just watched Philly do this.
Like the Chiefs when the lost their offensive tackles against the Bucs. They went out there tried to overcome it and got their *** kicked after being the best team in the league.that is true, luck be it good or bad has a role in winning games.
But some teams can overcome bad luck and still win. Unless it is real late in the game.
We will never know lol, because jones boys didnt even try to do something significant.I'm not sure what you're saying
EXACTLY what would the Cowboys have done to go "all-in"
I can think of a few things, but how much would it have increased our chances
Everything imaginable had to go right in the playoffs for the Rams to win 3 straight come-from-behind last-minute, game-winning drive, games in their Super Bowl drive. That was unprecedented.
What exactly would you have done?
Do you mean, would we have traded Dak for Stafford...who engineered all those game-winning playoff drives and had no 4th quarter turnovers all season (playoffs or regular season) to go with 51 total TDs? That was an NFL first... nobody has ever done it.
Cooper Kupp was unstoppable and a record-breaker. We don't have him
Aaron Donald. We have nothing like him
Honest question.....what would have gotten the Cowboys a Super Bowl win?
Well that was bad luck losing key players, I was referring to bad luck things that happen during the game that are not key injuries.Like the Chiefs when the lost their offensive tackles against the Bucs. They went out there tried to overcome it and got their *** kicked after being the best team in the league.
See Philly! They won it 5 years ago and were favored to win it this year! It’s the modern NFL. You can easily go all in and win a SB and turn it around in a couple years and win again if you do it right.
Great post!!Well there it is , jerry makes his $ off fans like you, who are satisfied to be a contender that is never going to win it all, and cant get past div round games.
The rams had a more exciting season in 21, and won the SB, they then lost some guys to FA and injuries, and stafford was knocked out for rest of the season.
The rams may be right back in it, depending on if McVay quits and if Stafford is ok, etc.
Dallas hasnt even been to a NFC champ game or just to a SB in almost 30 years.
It is worth a risk to try and get a SB here and there, and if FO is good, and coaches are good you can build another team in a few years.
Phil proved this, they won a SB and a few years later had rebuilt, new HC, and team and were back in the SB and lost by a last second FG.
That to me is way more exciting and satisfying than just being a contender that never makes it past div round.
the other thing is since dallas never gets past div round, are they really a contender, or is it just an illusion that they are??
I think it is all is just an illusion.
I agree with almost everything you said, except extending Dak. I was a huge Dak fan up to a couple years ago, but not now. Like I stated, I think we can win the Superbowl with Dak, if our D is Dominant and our running game is our strength on offense.Last season we didn't have to do anything too excessive. I would have:
- Signed Bobby Wagner instead of Barr
- Signed Daquan Jones instead of drafting Ridgeway
- Kept Amari Cooper instead of Gallup
I feel like that probably would have been enough for us to be a lot more competitive in the playoffs. Particularly if we also signed Hankins and TY Hilton mid-season.
This season I want us to:
To me, that's what it would take for us to be properly competitive. We probably have a two-year window, once we have to pay Ceedee, Diggs, and Parsons and can't kick the can on Dak we're in a rebuild.
- Sign Bobby Wagner instead of LVE and Barr
- Sign a 320+ pound 8m+ per season DT, I'd not be against also bringing Hankins back
- Cut Tyron Smith and sign a 10m+ guard
- Add a veteran WR that can be expected to contribute 500+ yards
- Franchise Pollard, Cut Zeke, restructure Dak and Martin
Their fun UNTIL sudden death. Then they are a MAJOR disappointment! They are fun. Ask the rest of the league.
Common Sense Fan! Thank you.Yea you go all in if you’re close. This isn’t the NFL of 30 years ago when it took college players 3 years to become major contributors. The college game is now very similar to the NFL so players can come in and make a difference year 1. That means when you go all in and then have to tear it down it doesn’t take 10 years to rebuild. You trade players for picks and take your licks for a few years. Draft well and clear cap space in a 5 year period and you are back in business.
So go get that superbowl if you’re close or talk about the long view and sit there for 27 years and counting.
After 27 years it’s time to do it differently.Every year two or three teams go "all in". There are no guarantees. If they go "all in" and don't win a Super Bowl, the results could be devastating.
What’s been going on for the past 27 years is a catastrophe.Na. Super Bowls are nice, and yeah , making the playoffs every other year and losing is cool with me. As long as they don't blow it when there's really a chance to win it. All I'm saying is the aftermath
of going all in so to speak is utter catastrophe. Years of suckage, Na I'll take long time sustained REAL success over one time flash in the pan and then go away to futility for the next ten years. I never really had a lot to say to Mercs anyway,
No loyalty, not even the pretense of loyalty. No Thank You . Question your screen name is in reference to Cliff Harris, Cliff Harris or Deion Sanders ? See to me it ain't even close Cliff all day! He's a lifer Cowboy. That's all I'm
Saying. I'm not against Brothers getting their coin. I just like it when you re loyal
It is not mediocrity, but it is definitely not a Superbowl appearance!!!Consecutive 12 win seasons is mediocre. Lol
27 years and only 4 playoffs wins in the wild card round isn’t suckage??? Stay the course it’s obviously working.Na. Super Bowls are nice, and yeah , making the playoffs every other year and losing is cool with me. As long as they don't blow it when there's really a chance to win it. All I'm saying is the aftermath

If we had the 85 Bears defense and Tom Brady to start the season nothing would be guaranteed! Get real!Which is exactly why I don't want to mortgage future for a shot that isn't guaranteed.
I have the same opinion of Dak, I just don’t think we’ll be able to convince him to take a pay cut and I don’t want to add more years so re-structure is the best I think we can do.I agree with almost everything you said, except extending Dak. I was a huge Dak fan up to a couple years ago, but not now. Like I stated, I think we can win the Superbowl with Dak, if our D is Dominant and our running game is our strength on offense.
I would ask Dak take a pay cut. Make him rewatch the Whiner game and replay all the bad throws. We can win a Superbowl with Dak, but he does make it harder. He definitely cannot be asked to do to much!!!
Yes, but making money has nothing to do with his not winning a SB, in fact with more trophies the franchise value would jump even higher.Yes, to raise another SB trophy after almost 3 decades of has-beens. It would have been a no brainer if this organization had a real GM. Unfortunately, JJ is making more money than he knows what to do with it and he doesn't have to answer to anyone for his non-moves.
In your 27 years you so like to bring up (28 actually) We've made the playoffs 12 times , Loss in the divisional round to the eventual super bowl champ 3 times 1 time to the Super Bowl Loser.27 years and only 4 playoffs wins in the wild card round isn’t suckage??? Stay the course it’s obviously working.
