Get a backup QB in FA or take one if the opportunity is there in the later rounds to take a guy that could pan out as a future franchise option. Goff was my guy but LA made sure that wasn't going to happen.

Another thing, defense may win championships, but offense sells tickets....and Jerry likes selling tickets.

I don't understand the rationale here when you can most likely get Ramsey in the first and possibly Derek Henry in the second.

Someone stated above but McFadden got 1000 yards behind this offensive line. There is no reason to take a running back with the fourth pick in the draft

Or we could get Elliot in the first and possibly a CB like Apple, Mackensie, Jackson III or Burns in the 2nd
or
Elliot in the first and a DL like Dodd, Butler or Clark in the 2nd.

I'd take either of those options over Ramsey/Henry. That said, I think we could do worse than Ramsey/Henry. I just hope that no matter who we take in the first we don't screw around a take a 2nd tier QB with our high 2nd or 3rd round picks.

Henry isn't considered a physical runner. Straight-line fast with no moves at all. Takes a while to get going.

Think of Ron Dayne.

no way is he ron dayne.

look, you can't fault the guy for being able to outrun defenders.

(and if he ran into them instead, people would say he's no good!)

this guy can knock defenders on their butts and blaze by them. i would have no problem taking him in round 2.

Sadly there is no chance we draft Elliott. I think he will be a great back but we're all in on DMac and Morris as our primary backs. Very little money is invested in the D-line so look for them to go that way at 4 or with trade down.

McFadden or Morris could be cheaply cut. That's not a factor here. And they don't make much anyway.

Elliot is worth the number 1 pick, he is the best player in the draft period. anyone that cannot see that this guy will help the whole team/organization need to get glasses. Henry will not do much in the NFL, if anything. Ramsey will not be what they think he will be, not at CB, maybe at Safety. You get no wins with him or Bosa, Elliot youwin games.

Elliot helps the defense and the offense, OFFENSE wins games and championships, not defense. defense helps a lot, but in order to win you have to outscore your opponent and that is what the offense does

Zeke may be a great RB, but he is not a once in a generation player. He just happens to be the best RB this year.

Michael Irvin also said we should have kept Murray and that he'd do great in Philly's offense. :lmao:

McFadden got 1k yards last year. McFadden.

Will Elliott be worth the extra yardage over what McFadden got, mostly without Romo and a healthy Dez?

I get they want the triplets again. However, I don't see Elliott being the only productive back out of this draft. Much rather keep on drafting backs out of the 3rd/4th round, and go after Ramsey/Bosa.

I just don't see the worthiness of drafting a back high in the first round. Not like they'll pony enough to extend a running back, especially if he wants top 5 $.

If JJ's goal, is to return to be as good as we were in the early 90"s...consider this...

With as much credit that was given to the Triplets, neither of them would have been what they were without a dominate offensive line. When that line started to falter or was absent, it meant the end of the Triplets.
Irvin's career ended because he had to go over the middle into the teeth of an Eagles defense and got slammed into the concrete turf called Veterans Stadium, because of his QB not having enough time. Aikman had to end his career because of the brutal hits he was taking both trying to stay in the pocket and the unfortunate times he was forced to run. (ie, LaVar Arrington). And Emmitt's career basically came to an end on a hit from Roy Williams while playing for the Cardinals.
We have the dominate line, we have an elite quarterback and receiver once again. The only piece that is missing...is a truly elite running back. Our team from last year paid the price for this 4th overall pick....NOW USE IT!!! He's our's...!!!

We don't need to recreate our 90s squad to compete for rings today. It makes no sense to chase a specific mold, rather than take the clearest path there, based on what you have and what comes available to you. Never mind that the league has changed. You don't win games with your QB throwing 15 TDs a year. If our goal is to be the 90's Cowboys, we'll never get there.

You do need to have a specific mold or plan and draft players that fits it. One of the problems with this team is a lack of identity. They chase whatever the top teams are doing instead of picking a plan and sticking with it. I like the smash-mouth, run it down their throat type of team. Dallas has the oline to be that team, but they have to pick a direction and quit chasing trends.

If Ramsey is gone by our pick, we will trade back with someone who wants Tunsil.

I don't know. Nobody touched him for five yards.

He doesn't break tackles. That bothers me for a guy his size.

And he's going to take hellacious hits... And hellacious hits = concussions and concussions equal missed time. I'd rather have a smaller elusive guy like Perkins who has the vision and the quickness to avoid the head jarring hits. That's was one of the great things about Emmitt and Tony D... very difficult to line them up for a kill-shot. Emmitt would get "small" and Tony would just juke another direction and catch a glancing blow.
