Witten just confirmed Garrett is staying as head coach

How does Garrett get absolved for lack of talent?! He's been here 6 years.Head coach for 3. If our team has no talent, that is his fault as well.

He's part of it. But he's lower on my list of priorities.

Huh. Not sure what to make of this. I mean, it's 8 on one hand, and half of 16 on the other.

cool story bro. people will be super impressed with your reply.

Good as long as none of them are you I'll feel good about it.

You just keep on ignorantly spreading your misery as far and wide as you can.

May as well get on board with it. He's here and he's staying so you play the card you've been dealt. Accept it or go find another team.

Start researching your DL and LB prospects.

Bull!!! get pissed and stop giving this man (JJ) money! Ill never buy anything Cowboys again as long as he is alive, he has spit on this franchise long enough

Reassuring to opposing defenses who love to see Witten get the ball in the flat on plays that require him to juke the defender in order to make positive yardage. Is there a compelling reason for having him run that route over and over again? Is it possible to eliminate it from the playbook entirely?

That's fair. They probably all do. I'm a big believer in solving problems but you still have to beat the guy lined up across from you.

I can't help but think that several of them have to be seeing the playcalling costing them games.

And that can't sit too well.

It's a nice grey area where those continuing to support this like to hide.

When it's good, it's Garrett, when it's bad, it isn't.

With them, he can't lose.

Even when he does.

Three seasons of not executing plays is no longer on the players, it's on the coach. If your players cannot execute the plays you design, at some point, your design is flawed for the players.

I can agree to an extent. When it comes to option routes and reading coverage that is a coaching issue. However, a lot of the break downs we see that cost us games are just fundamental football that shouldn't happen at this level. A missed FG here, a holding call there, a dropped pass, bad throw, etc. That is player execution and not much to do with scheme or coach, but a player making a play or in our case, not making a play.

So Garrett is staying. The ultimate consolation prize in stability. Hey Jerry, How about at least letting him pick the new coordinators? He can't possibly do worse than your selections of Kiffin and Callahan. Callahan should be a OL coach and nothing more and it time to retire ol ' Monte.

Not directed at you specifically but you cannot blame Garrett for the lack of talent then say Jerry runs all aspects of the team, overrides the scouts and coaches, yada. The acquisition of talent is up to the GM. The coaches have some input into what players they need, who would work in their scheme, and hell no they don't want that player on the team. They get input. I do think Garrett has a bit more say than some coaches. I agree Garrett deserves some of the blame.

great news. the gm is mediocre, but at least he isn't stupid enough to fire someone to placate ignorant fans.

So you and the other Garrett apologists can rejoice in another 8-8 season. He's had enough time to produce results. Most fans here want more for this team. Garrett ain't providing it. Wake up.

Honestly, I'd rather keep all the coaches if Garrett stays. That way there can be no scapegoats for next years failures..

I just felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
