do you know the definition of "random"?

it's called random testing because the player doesn't know when, or where he's going to be called for it, and the selection is random

Exactly, what's your point?

I'm sure several players have dodged the random test. Looks like Izzo wasn't testing in 2003- no mystery there.

And the Pitts doc has said it was something else. Did he give it to players? Probably so, I don't have any proof, but again it depends on how the random test falls.
gee I wonder what it could be

I think alot of players are 'roiding

Maybe I never said a player has never roided...I have said the testing is legit for what it is.

Random testing is what they got and I think it is legit. Some get caught and some don't but I doubt Rampage's theory that the NFL tips off the players when the tests are coming.

They could move to mandatory testing for all but again, I think that has to be in the CBA.

Why would they ever suspend anyone then? If the test is a sham, why suspend the golden-boy sack machine? Just cover it up.

cause he's not the golden boy and plays for the chargers. you got Ware in Dallas(big market) now Harrison in Pitt(big market) used to be strahan in NY(big market) now it's Osi or tuck. plenty of sack machines to go around.

the test isn't a sham

just the testing schedule is, I don't think it's as hard-core as many want to believe it is, I think the current schedule can allow many players to slip through the cracks

I'll be happy when I read a very ironic story, Vick has been attacked by 3 roaming pit bulls.

You won't ever read it. Don't live in misery. Get over it.

I really didnt want to chime in on the drug testing issue but i cant help myself here.

This is a subject i have a good deal of knowledge about.

The NFL test for certain anabolic steroid compounds that are extracted through the urine of the players. They do not allow a blood test on the players. Where this is important is that anabolic steroids all have a different half life in the body and different detection times. For example an oil based injectable steroid like Test Enthanate or Sustanon will show up in the blood and urine for a very long time. The water based injectable's do not last in the body for more than 2 days on average. Then their are some steroids that must be taken throughout the day that clear the body in a matter of hours. This is why a oral based steroid like Dianabol has to be taken in small doses throughout the day. Users need to keep their blood levels someone constant.
NFL players know when they are going to get tested. They know the detection times in the urine of the different steroids. They know they wont get blood tested so they dont have to worry about that side of it. You would have to be a total fool to fail a steroid urine test that you have more than a couple days notice of.

Then the issue of Human Growth Hormone is even trickier. No urine test exist that can detect HGH. It is hard to detect with a blood test even.

Of course NFL players are juiced. They have been for years and they will always be. Its better if we just all accept that as a fact and move on. Getting past a steroid drug test is not that difficult.

He failed because he is one of the fools. He is so juiced that he either has become so mentally addicted to steroids that he became careless or he totally mistimed the testing.

The problem with a long time user of steroids is that it does start to take more to get the results.

For example the first cycle of steroids always gives the user the best gains. I have known athletes who have gained 30 pounds on their 1st cycles. Then their cycles after the first dont yield the same gains.

The more you push your body past its normal genetic limit the more steroids it takes to keep these gains and the more you have to take to grow.

Anyone can walk around with 20 pounds of extra muscle on their body with a moderate steroid cycle 2 or 3 times a year. However to walk around with 60 pounds of muscle more than your normal genetic limits will take much much larger dosages or "stacks". It is very common for a user to take a stack of 3 or more steroids at one time.

Do you feel the NFL condones and looks the other way when it comes to this?

I feel that the NFL does have somewhat of an interest in allowing it to an extent. The league obviously benefits when its players are superhuman. However, the league is smart enough to test its players. They are covering their own arses by giving the test. They will never be called by congress and grilled the way baseball has been. I think the drug policy and testing procedures are needed. But i also feel that its primary goal is not to catch players taking steroids.

Lets not forget that steroids have been made into an evil cheaters drug by the media that will kill its users. The league has to stand against this. However, they will not start a drug testing procedure that would really catch all the players. And the Union would not allow them to do it either.

People still believe Lyle Alzado actually died from steroids. Forget that he developed a brain tumor. Meanwhile not 1 single case of brain tumor has ever been linked to steroid use.

i am not condoning steroids here. I just realize that they have been used by pro athletes for many years and always will be.

Heck if Peter Korda(skinny tennis player) was caught using steroids do you really think a 300 pound lineman who can bench 700 pounds isnt?

Any sport where size, speed, or strength help you will have steroids involved with them.

Wouldnt you take them if you knew you would make millions of dollars a year to play professional sports.
