beckerman is an unsung hero. His presence right in front of the CB's brings a calming feel in the midfield. I love how it allows jones and bradley more freedom to attack.

I agree.

I turned on the radio this morning and people are still nitpicking things about the USA.

If you want to nitpick I would say we look a lot more prepared then a lot of the "elite countries" so far in the friendlies.

Also, for as shaky as our defense has looked we only allowed 2 goals and they were penalties.

With the new formation, and Altidore getting hot at the right time, I feel like we are primed to make some noise in this tournament IF we get 3 points against Ghana.

Portugal is overrated. We'll beat those guys unless Ronaldo comes out firing on all cylinders.

The United States looks like they have taken their preparation seriously for this world cup. I can't say the same about some of these other countries.

Agreed about the annoying talking heads.
That was a true class performance versus Nigeria.
Really one-sided until mass subs late.

The US isn't an elite soccer power but they are being built/managed like one.
They remind me a lot of the Texas Rangers organization as it was built through youth and tough decisions on stars like Texeira being let go.

very unlikely. going to need one of these two to finish 2nd in their group...both win their group and they will face in the semis

Not out of the question Portugal could win group G. They are ranked 4th in the world hope you know

If Ronaldo is out i would agree, but hes playing and should be ready to go.

Even w ronaldo at 200%, which is the form he has been at this season, Portugal isn't anything close to a top 5 team

I'll say it again, no way a European team wins in South America, it will be Brazil, Argentina, and health permitting, Chile(Vidal) and Uruguay(Suarez) as dark horses

I agree, when it's World Cup time, Ronaldo just doesn't deliver the goals, It will be almost impossible for Portugal to win this group

Almost impossible? There is only 4 teams and they are the 2nd best team of the 4 going in. It wouldn't even make the news.

Definitely not almost impossible. And to say Ronaldo doesn't deliver for Portugal is silly.. He's the best player in the world right now and the only reason Portugal is in the world cup. Go back and watch Portugal v sweden w the wc bid on the line

But that team isn't top 5.Not even close.

Portugal is very beatable.

Germany on paper is the clear cut favorite but I have seen nothing with this group of Germans to be confident that they will dominate this group.

I think the winner of Ghana USA will probably make it out of the group. Portugal, even with Ronaldo, will not make it out of the group.
