Would an 0-2 start surprise you?

While I’m trying to approach this season from an optimistic perspective, the more I step back and look at the current circumstances, the more worried I become.

I’m looking at a rookie left tackle with limited reps, a reputation for holding, and recovering from a high ankle sprain lining up to plan B at left guard.

I’m looking at a receiving group in flux, waiting for its’ #2 to be able to play recovering from major knee surgery.

And I’m also looking at a tough start to the season via scheduling.

I can’t help but to think that we will be spending most of the season clawing back from an 0-2 deficit.

How does everyone else feel?
This team is too inconsistent to go 0-2 or 2-0. 1-1 would be their standard.

All of the “experts” and many of the fans keep saying 0-2, 0-2, 0-2! So if that’s expected to happen, a virtually guaranteed scenario, then WHY is it such big news when it DOES happen? If Dallas loses to Tampa by one point, the #1 headline will be “Dallas Loses! What A Laughingstock” and “Why The Dallas Cowboys Are NOT America’s Team!” Then they lose by one to Cincy, and the jokes fly, and the biggest topics on the sports shows are “Dallas Lost”, “Tom Brady” and “Lebron!”

It’s like the weatherman forecasting sunshine the next day, acting shocked when they have to wear shades.

I expect 0-2. Starting the season 4-4 wouldn’t be the worst thing. Hopefully we can make a run in the 2nd half of the season.

I'm expecting it.

I think they start off 2-4 on their way to a 7-10ish season.

I expect the team to go 1-1 just like last year when there were significant obstacles to overcome. The difference this year is both games are at home vs. road games on opposite coasts and a much better defense. Personally, I think they’ll lose the opener and beat the Bengals (like last year), but prefer the reverse if they only win 1. I also think 0-2 is no more likely than 2-0.

Do you expect us to win every game ?

No I think there are games that we should win and will lose and I think there are games where we are expected to lose and win. Are there any un-winnable games? NO are there is sure bets to win? No

Ok

So, are there some games or matchups which you believe we are possibly more likely to win or lose than others?

Given the fact we have not seen starters since the end of last season, it hard to say. I think looking at last season a power run team like Tenn is not a good matchup but again I have yet to see these starting unit. So making any guesses pro or con without seeing how this team plays

I would not be surprised however my bigger fear has been that our OC is able to spend the off season designing new plays that he uses up in the first 4-5 games and then once defences catch up our OC and QB are unable to respond

That’s fair . It is somewhat subjective with many unknowns heading into a season.

For me when I look ahead to our schedule while I’d agree on basis with your statement I see games which look more losable than others .

Be it as a fan or in my youth playing the game, I don't concede games nor do I take any game for granted. You go out and play good ball and avoid big mistakes you give yourself a chance to win, anytime you hit the field.

I think 1-1 or 0-2 are the most realistic takes. Tampa Bay on opening night will have a better team on paper and in person but both teams will be rusty so you never know.

I think we actually will have a slightly better shot against Tampa than Cincy. Opening games in the modern day NFL are very unpredictable because of how little starters play in ps. If the Cowboys can get some TOs on defense and maybe a STs big play or two from Turpin, I can see a win vs Tampa.

One other possible story line bs the Bucs- look I know Brady is the GOAT and he’s been Superman, but I still firmly believe the day will come soon when he hits the age wall suddenly. He’s been an absolute beast about staying in great shape but his arm strength has diminished some every year. He throws more picks than he used to. May not happen against us but Brady is going to meet Father Time very soon IMO.

Right, that’s exactly the mindset needed as a player or coach. But as I mentioned in opening response fans are allowed to take a different perspective.

Fans can think anything they choose. My perspective is this team will not be nearly as bad as many here claim. As for Tampa Bay, I'm sorry I am not in aw of them and frankly I don't see them as the same team they were 2 years ago or even last season. To me this is a winnable game. Frankly the Cinn game bothers me more

I think he’ll know when it’s time . He started to think it was already here but he had a near MVP performance again last year.

If we’ve learned anything over his career is to never count him out. My hunch is he’ll bow out before the clock strikes .

The greater hope is that the Bucs overall talent base has diminished more than ours has .

I think there’s a possibility Tampa has lessened their talent more than we have . Brady is the x-factor.
