Allen gave up the fewest sacks of any of our OLineman this past season

...because defences focussed in on Tucker. This year they did trap Allen and Tucker on stunts which the two of them didn't execute properly in picking up their man.

If Adams returns to form watch how Allen is the man they begin to pick on.

At this point we cannot afford to cut Allen because we have nothing in his place, but that only means we need to begin the process of moving past Allen.

Going more than two more years with him will be a problem.

Thats not true at all LOL

Really? Even BP said he doesn't trust Tucker because Tucker doesn't get the mental aspect of the game. Would you leave Tucker by himself? I don't think so. Don't sell LA as something that he is not. He was great for a long time, but the greatness is gone. Does anyone fear him anymore... other than the drunk standing in a dark alley?

I watched every game and I know what ou are saying is not true. Did Allen sometimes help Tucker sure not all the time tho. Mostly tucker got help from a RB or TE

Hell yea we'd miss him. I don't see us going after a guard in FA and I sure as hell don't want to count on a rookie next year.

Larry Allen is still the best OL on this team. Period. Getting rid of him without an equally talented replacement would be very very bad.

That is my point. Is he really a good investment at this point? Can we get something else in the FA period? I know some think Pettiti shouldn't start next year, but I think we'll see a huge improvement from him next year. BP will know before the draft. Maybe RT isn't where we need to focus. Maybe it's LG...

No it is RT!!

I wonder if these people even WATCH the games sometimes.

People you cant judge a teams talent by watching the highlights the next morning.

Adams went down, and then we had Petitti at one tackle and Tucker at the other. Doesn't matter who your G's and C are, if the T's are both virtually rookies,(one truly, one might as well be). And it didnt help our C's had to rotate to get decent play out of them, and the RG Rivera was M.I.A most of the year. I dont recall seeing him dominate.

By your philosophy maybe we should just cut Tucker, Johnson,Rivera, Gurode, and hell, Adams to for not being reliable, also. None of them excelled at any part of the game.

Allen is a dominant run-blocker still, due to his sheer strength.

I think Larry sticks around for another season-- high cap figure or not. I think we would be worse without him.

You're simply incorrect, but don't let actual facts or their distortion ruin a POV.

Well, if Larry didn't, who did?

I agree with Michael. I don't think that LA gets cut this season unless there is a major free agent(Hutchinson) signing at the guard position. Nobody has a real clue on how Peterman would play as a starter.

I do however think that in the next couple of seasons that the organization must address a young guard or drafting a guard to try and develop for when LA either retires, is traded or cut.

Everyone knows that this league is not about loyalty anymore. It's about winning. If you watched the PB today, you could see that he is not the same LA of 4 years ago. Hell, if you watched any game this season you should've seen that.

Thanks for the great years LA, but it's time to move on.

Did you also happen to notice in that game that Orlando Pace was getting owned by Vanden Bosch? LA had a great game by comparison.

I would miss him a lot. He is my favorite player on this team by far. Still almost a mythical aura around him for his strength. A lifelong Cowboy not a retread. Does his job without talking. Yes, I would miss him.

I would miss Larry Allen. He has been a big part of this team for years but Dallas can't continue to pay big bucks for players who are no longer getting the job done. Larry looked good at the start of the season but he does not have 16 weeks of football left in him and I think we can't afford to be weaker on the line of scrimmage towards the end of the season after all that is where SB teams start playing their best not their worst. Bite the bullet and do what needs to be done release Allen.

I'd like to just point out, that if the numbers between Johnson and Allen are close, Johnson was not a full time starter, but shared alot of time with Gurode. Just something to consider.

I know he has been a mainstay for several years and pro bowler forever, but would anyone miss Larry Allen if the Boys cut him before the March 3 FA period begins? I don't think I would. There comes a time when you just have to part ways.

yeah, lets make an already pathetic OL even worse...

get rid of the capable starters and replace them with more Tucker's and Petitti's...we're certain to be on the road to greatness with that strategy

So lets just stay with a pathetic line? Yeah that is the way to go, over pay for a guy who can't do the job instead of looking to replace him so that maybe this line will not continue to be pathetic. Allen offers us nothing and he is not getting the job done. Guys with any quickness are getting by him with little trouble.
