What "wrong direction"? The suspensions to other players?

Yes, the suspension to the other players, the injuries many of the quality rookies that will all but wash out their abilities to help this year, the obviousness that Taco or Tapper wont miraculously solve our pass rush problems this year, ect....ect......

I disagree that they didnt prepare for this. He may have next expected it, but he wouldnt be dumb enough to really think it wasnt a possibility. And given a whole year who exactly do you think they are going to bring in here? Jerry is in love with McFadden.

Given the team's needs and number of draft picks for 2018, I think drafting a young back is a near certainty. Even if Elliott is exonerated on this one, he's shown himself to be a suspension waiting to happen. The team isn't about to tie up the opportunity to win a championship on someone they can't rely on to stay on the field and out of trouble. Even if he's cleared, that's not going away.

Well, at least you bring up an angle I didnt think about. Preparing for his absence. In my mind, this is more about which team will be better prepared to win the SB. I simply dont think this team has more than an outside shot with or without Zeke. Defense simply wont hold up.

There is no doubt in my mind that he gets something and I want to take that as soon as possible. I want nothing to do with a midseason or especially end of season, which is at least probable if the first six game suspension is delayed.

Let me just ask you a straight up question. Do you think the Cowboys have a legitimate chance to win the SB this year?

With Elliott for all 16 games? I most certainly do.

They went 13-2 last year and used Week 17 as a bye. And the two legit losses could have gone either way.

And I see arrows everywhere that point UP, not DOWN.

I see young players getting better, and talent being added to the fold. And I don't see any losses whatsoever that couldn't possibly be improved upon.

How about you? What do you see?

Where do you see that this defense got worse with no chance of being as good or possibly better?

Im talking about winning a SB, not making the playoffs. I think we can make the playoffs even without Zeke for 6 games. Are you saying we have a real shot to make the SB this year?

Yes. Unequivocally yes. The only NFC team that truly worries me is Atlanta, the team who should have won the last Super Bowl. If they don't miss Kyle Shanahan terribly, they could be even better than last year.

But I firmly believe that the Cowboys can play with anyone.

Of course we do.

It's a parity league and we have strengths that are hard for a team to overcome.

I see a team both last year and this year that dont have a good enough defense to win it all. I see a worse pass rush this year and a worse secondary. Talent is better, but experience is not. Are things pointing up? Yes, but with a temporary holding pattern until these young defensive players get up to speed. Jaylon included. And last year was an anomoly with injuries. Wont happen again in my opinion.

I think they can play with anyone. But I dont think they can beat the top 3 teams in the NFC AND the top team in the AFC in 4 straight games on the road. Which is probably what they would have to do this year. Atlanta is better. Now if your saying anything can happen like a big injury to Ryan and Brady, ect...ect..., then sure. Then there is always the Garrett factor for me. He will get out coached. I feel like this team has to have better talent overall in order to win. On defense, I dont have that.

But I didnt think we were going to go 13-3 last year either and they did. But like I said, it was a miracle type season with injuries. The Romo injury actually helping the cause. In a strange way.

Ok then let me ask you another question considering you think they definitely have a shot.

Do you think they would have a better shot THIS year or NEXT year after these young guns on D have another year to develop/Jaylon get 100%, Dak another year of experience, ect...ect....

With all the hoopla on this Zeke suspension ruling, I never heard when we can expect to hear on the NFL's "re-decision" with the appeal. Is there any time frame when we'll hear back?

You dont think they have prepared for it already? They seem more than happy with who they have as backups.
Would you rather face our opening schedule this year without Zeke.. or have "time" to prepare.
Time is always good and preparation is always an advantage.

Given your scenario (which I disagree with), I'd delay it until next year. For the reason that I would have the offseason, free agency, and the draft to insulate myself against that possible suspension as best as I possibly could.
I prefer never as he is to important to what this team does. I just got to keep telling myself he is clean and will be set free...so I would lean this way if forced into a corner but prefer nothing at all.

Neither... but next if I had to choose. I just think another year on the D-side.
