Get it over with and behind you, playing this out week after week all year long isn't going to make things easier...Next year Morris and McFadden, two 1000 yard backs won't be here......
You convinced me...next year it is.

Im with you, but you lose me on the Atlanta slight. I see them as having more confidence then ever. And I would think pissed at how the season ended. But look at what they did with the defense as opposed to the Cowboys. They signed Poe the DT from KC that was coveted. I was hoping to get him. They get back Trufant, a very good corner that was injured last year. And they jumped ahead of us to get the last quality rookie DE in McKinnley. Beasly is the other DE and had 15 sacks in only his 2nd year last year. I see them as 2 years ahead of us with the defense.

Here is an article talking about what they did in the off season. https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/06/02/atlanta-falcons-offseason-grades-free-agency-nfl-draft

We'll see about their defense and we will see about ours. I think both defenses will be improved but our improvement will show up later on than theirs because of our youth. November or December is when I think we see a payoff on defense.

I don't see Atlanta being confident at all and we see time and time again that the team that loses the Superbowl comes back the next year with a giant hangover.

I also think their division overall is much improved.

I just don't believe in Atlantas defense like you do. They got lit up all season and you can say what you want about the Cowboys defense but we were far better at not giving up points and I think we'll be good at doing that again with our time of possession.

Again I will ask, who can we not replace or improve upon? Give me some names.

This team was winning Super Bowls with less than 13 wins. In fact, 13 wins was the best they did. This team doesn't need to win 13 games to win a championship. Just like winning 13 was no guarantee last year.

I'd be willing to bet that they win 11, and that's good enough for the division and likely a bye and home playoff game.

I already told you that none are irreplaceable. What I am telling you is that the guys we found to replace are either not impressing or too young at this point to make that much of a difference.

10 or 11 is right where I am. And no you dont have to win 13 games. By my point remains. These young players will be better next year then they are this year and thus our team will be better prepared to win a title. And I would certainly hope that all these suspensions wont occur in number.

Agree on some of that. Hangover does have a nagging way. It did with Carolina. But they lost some defensive guys.

Ready now? I find that comment baffling.
I find your complete lack of respect for our defense baffling. Our secondary was one of the most improved units last year due to the new faces on the coaching staff. Now they have players with talent. Yet you think they are gonna be bad?

What can I tell you? We see things completely different. And we still dont have a good pass rush. You going to argue that one too?

The Reality thread about Zeke got me thinking. If legal action could possibly delay the suspension which would you take? For this exercise lets assume that he will be facing a 6 game suspension no matter what. The trial would just delay the suspension. Would you rather see the suspension this year for 6 games or next year for 6 games?

Personally, I would take the 6 games this year. The reasoning being that with so many other suspensions, the revamp of the secondary, the lack of pass rush, young defensive players, that were not truly legitimate contenders this year. Next year with another year for the young guys on D and Dak that much more into his development, we have a better chance at the show.

Next year. No one knows what may happen (good or bad) between now and then. Seize the opportunity now!

I think some of them are impressing. Some have disappointed due to missed time.

Ok, we're in the same ballpark. I'm thinking between 10 and 12.

I agree that they will likely be better next year too. But that doesn't mean that I don't think they can also win now.

Be patient, you might get both......Goodell and Mara haven't discussed our suspensions for next year just yet.

Given the limited context of your question, I'd say this year and get it behind you. First off all, you are banking on Zeke gaining a temporary injunction, staying the suspension until it is resolved in court. The NFL will most certainly ask for a speedy trial, with hopes to impose the suspension s soon as possible to do so. Suppose it goes to court in October, the courts rule in favor the NFL, and Zeke's suspension takes effect in November, or even worse...later - impacting the postseason. That's why I say if 6 games in inevitable (as your OP stated)' get it out of the way when it waouod have the lest harmful impact.

If you were wrongfully accused of something and facing jail time, would you just "go to jail and get it over with?"

Read the OP again...he's saying IF a 6-game suspension is inevitable.

If I knew, upfront, that I would be convicted, I'd take the jail time and get it behind me.

They have a shot to win it this year, just not as good as probably next year. That is why I was saying take the Zeke hit now. Why spoil a potentially better opportunity next year?

I can see that. Long term, they could be even stronger next year, once this rookie class gets some experience and good coaching. But I think they also have a shot this year.

I can see your point, but I would counter that a stronger team would be better equipped to handle a possible absence. And, again, the team would have free agency and the draft to acquire a better replacement option. Perhaps even an eventual replacement if they feel they can't trust Elliott to grow up and avoid trouble?
