Would you sign Derrick Henry if he is released?

At the right cost absolutely. Henry is the perfect type of player to pair with a Tony Pollard and realistically drop his touches down closer to 15 per game to help extend his career a couple years. With that said I have to believe Henry will cost more than what the Cowboys should be willing to pay for a 15 touch running back. Anything other than a 1 possibly 2 year stop gap type of deal for Henry should be off the table.

How much would you have to change the offense to adjust to Henry’s style?

Also I don’t think he would have been a good fit in Moore’s offense.

Teams aren't paying for running backs in today's NFL, why do you think all these team are either cutting them or letting them seek a trade, team aren't going to pay them what they think they're worth...it's a deep running back class, go draft one in the third or fourth round....
Depending upon the back.

-Giants tagged Barkley to keep him
-Niners gave premium picks to get McCaffrey

No.

What I would do. Is look into Ekeler's demands. He has minimal wear and tear as a RB and if we can bring him in for 3 years. It would probably cost a 3rd. Maybe a conditional 3rd. Hes a proven commodity. And would make Pollard expendable.

Or. Draft a RB.
Pollard can be every bit as productive and impactful as Ekeler.
He's already as explosive and dangerous as Ekeler. Why would we need Ekeler ?

Thats fair. I just think Ekeler is a little better. I am good with either. Only reason I brought Ekeler up is because I would prefer him to Henry lol

not a chance. We need to keep replenishing the roster with young (Cheap ) players, not old guys that know the end is near and want as much money as possible.

Say Henry is cut or maybe could be had for cheap with Tenn on the hook for a big part of his salary like the Cooks deal…..would you?
I think some moves you have to draft first than what you missed on in the draft you go back in free agency
and try to fill the need. If we draft a RB in first 4 rounds than probably will run with the rookie, Pollard and Ronald Jones
than Malik Davis back to practice squad or gone.

These kind of questions always need to have a dollar amount (and years) attached.
At the league minimum? Only an idiot would say no.
Highest paid in the League? Only a fool would say yes.

Somewhere in between the answer changes.

Absolutely all comes down to salary. There may not be a better compliment to Pollard's skillset than Henry's skillset. But, we can't be spending another $10M on a RB. I don't think he is looking at a one year deal and I don't think he is looking for a salary low enough for it to be the smartest use of our cap $'s since we already tagged Pollard.

However, I think some of the comments dismissing his ability in this thread border on bizarre. The guy had 1,500 yards and 13 TDs in 16 games (and 937 yards and 10 TDs in 8 games the year before and over 2,000 yards the year before that)) on a team with a crap Offense and (without seeing a stat) probably faced as many 8 man plus box looks as any RB in the league. To act as if he no longer can help an NFL team in general and this team specifically seems odd

If you guys wouldn’t do a 1 year deal then you’re basically Stephen Jones.

This would be a no brained and allow us to take playoff games out of Dak’s hands instead of asking him to be something he is not.

Maybe. They are both open field RBs, actually quite similar.

really ? I'd easily go with Henry over Ekeler
Henry presents enormous size and power factor, run skills and breakaway home speed, while Eckler strikes me as more scatback like.
Arron Jones Thomas Sanders type.

Maybe some are relating Henry as more of a north south downhill running bell cow than the east west lateral scatback and think he would
not fit a west coast McCarthy like offense, But McCarthy has had north south power like backs .

obviously depends on the finances but I would most certainly do my due diligence on this one! I’m throwing my hat in the ring and at least inquiring.

Sort of. Running style may be similar, but we have the obvious physical differences with Henry being 3 inches and 40lbs bigger than Pollard. Plus how they've been used are different as well looking at the charts. Henry runs roughly 60% of his rushes between the tackles, and on outside runs sees his YPC dip to 4.06. Pollard is the exact opposite where he see rushes outside the tackles about 58% and averages 5.1 YPC on those carries. At least from what the charting shows Tennessee has used Henry very similar to how the Cowboys have used Zeke in recent years, difference being that Henry has help up and continues to put up quality number while Zeke has fallen off.

That's where I think Henry/Pollard could complement each other well as they could be the Zeke/Pollard tandem with better production.
