Would you sign Derrick Henry if he is released?

Oh I agree as a general rule that you should not resign running backs to large contracts, however there are some players that are just extraordinary, and Henry is one of them.

Have you seen his workout videos he posts in the offseason? The dude trains like a mad man, he will be squatting 500 pounds while having another 150 pounds of super-sized dog chains around his neck. That is not your average player, virtually nobody trains like that in the offseason, dam sure not Zeke.

That is why I say that no rule can be absolute, there are always going to be players who are exceptions and how many 29 yr old RBs put up over 1500 yds with a USFL caliber offensive line? Yes Henry will eventually start to decline, but it may be several years before that happens the way he takes care of himself and if there was a chance for us to get him for one or two seasons I would be all for it.

Does this look like a guy that is washed?

And also in data for years...where I learned to ground myself in truth.

Am I mistaken...I thought you graduated with a degree from UT?

I think the Cowboys will prefer to look to the draft for one of its better RBs to serve them, rather than spend too much for Derrick Henry.

Common sense. Thank you for having some. It's disappearing from the land.

Yes.... an easy answer if he's willing to take a fair deal.
If I recall, they were pretty high on him in the draft.

The argument that good backs are easy to find in the later rounds of the draft is flawed. Take a look at the top ten rushers from the past several years, and look closely at where they were drafted.

Yes, you can find serviceable to good backs past the second round. You may get lucky and find a gem like Terrell Davis or Priest Holmes late, but the odds aren't as good as many think.

This team needs more than a decent player back there next to Pollard. The offense goes where the run game takes it. It's not wise to gamble the season on projected success of a rookie playing a key role on offense unless his name is Bijon Robinson. I'm not saying sign Henry to a stupid deal, but if the finances make sense, bringing Henry in makes a ton of sense and he would be a massive upgrade over what we saw from Zeke the last couple of seasons.
Great post, if running backs grew on trees every team would have 3 great ones. I don't get that either, the numbers don't line up with their argument.

Numbers have nothing to do with it. Most RBs get great numbers when their volume increases.

The issue is paying these guys top dollar because you can get another guy for far cheaper.

The RB position has been low-balled trending position, way before Henry.......Zeke, Leveon Bell to name two. Can't argue with a player trying to get his money for such a brutal contact sport. For all the yardage and impact Henry has provided for the Titans.....loyalty or compensation never measures up. He will find out, RB is like an automobile.....the moment you drive it off the lot......depreciation begins. Nobody regards the high mileage (carries demanded and injuries inflicted) until contract talk resurfaces, nobody regards a flailing OL into the equation also. It is what it is.......unless you're a QB, especially a beloved QB, even if ringless. We've seen it. Now watch the responses about why and all the hindsight.

No but that might not stop Booger from wanting to make a splash. He could convince himself to ignore Elliott's decline after too much contact.

However, they definitely need a RB capable of being the #1 because Pollard is coming off that injury.

I would prefer they draft a RB and have at least 4 years with him with Pollard being on a 1 year.

LOL, you sound like my girlfirend does when she does not like something I do, she says "are you sure you graduated from UT".

Yes, to the suprise of many, I actually did graduate from UT after 6 (maybe 7;)) long years.

I still think Henry is one of the best RBs in the league, but this will all be a moot point if we can draft my man Bijan!!!

Say Henry is cut or maybe could be had for cheap with Tenn on the hook for a big part of his salary like the Cooks deal…..would you?
I would wait until after the draft but if Henry would sign for some 3 million we would be morons not to sign him.

Henry, Pollard and a 3rd round pick would be devastating. LOL

Take a guard with our first pick and now your talking dominant run game.

There's only one guard that by consensus has been rated as a first round selection - O'Cyrus Torrence. He may... or may not....be there for the Cowboys to pick at 26.
All the other notable OGs are graded as a 2nd round picks at best.

If Henry is released, sure, why not? But not at his current contract. But I don't think Tennessee releases him. He'll probably play his last year there.

Not sure why people are against this if he’s affordable. Basically gives us the same duo as last year to split duties only this time, the older vet isn’t washed up yet.

DHenry better than any RB we have.

Not even close.
True, but he’s got a lot of mileage on him and we’re going to be paying Pollard over 10 million on the franchise tag this upcoming season. The only reason Henry could be available is because the Titans know he’s going to be hitting the wall soon. Tennessee is open to seeing what they could get for him before that happens. He’s starting to come up with injuries which is not a good sign for an aging RB.

LOL I would sign Henry in a heart beat. Then run him into the ground for 2 seasons. We have a Super Bowl window here and it's swiftly closing.
