Would you sign Derrick Henry if he is released?

No, he is right on schedule for that inevitable decline. The Cowboys got burned bad with the signing of Eddie George, let's not do that again.

I doubt they have the cash to get that done. Besides it might be a better idea to just draft a RB

The argument that good backs are easy to find in the later rounds of the draft is flawed. Take a look at the top ten rushers from the past several years, and look closely at where they were drafted.

Yes, you can find serviceable to good backs past the second round. You may get lucky and find a gem like Terrell Davis or Priest Holmes late, but the odds aren't as good as many think.

This team needs more than a decent player back there next to Pollard. The offense goes where the run game takes it. It's not wise to gamble the season on projected success of a rookie playing a key role on offense unless his name is Bijon Robinson. I'm not saying sign Henry to a stupid deal, but if the finances make sense, bringing Henry in makes a ton of sense and he would be a massive upgrade over what we saw from Zeke the last couple of seasons.

Man, I just dont get some of the takes in this thread. King Henry is 29 yrs old, some of you guys are talking about him like he is 40.

He played last year on a terrible Titans team, they had one of the worst offensive lines in the league, they had absolutely no passing game with the Titan WR core ranked dead last in virtually every statistical category, and once Tanny got hurt they were starting USFL caliber QBs the rest of the season.

Henry literally faced 8 man boxes every down, in fact some teams even put a 5th defensive lineman in the game just to stop Henry since he was the only offense the Titans had.

Given all of that, this is what Henry produced..........................1,538 yds (2nd in NFL)............averaged 4.4 yards per carrry............and had 13 TDs (2nd in the NFL)

The dude is still a beast and still the best RB in the league.

Heck yeah, Henry for one year without spending any draft capital is a no brainer. Barring injury, it would put this offense in another atmosphere...

Maybe, he has some longevity like Emmitt, or AP, Thurman, Gore……he may still have 2-3 good years left. I know he’s has some miles the last few years, but he was a backup the first two seasons and only got half or less carries, he had 3 seasons over 300 carries, the rest are under 220 or even less. Zekes drop off was crazy, he was a bad case…..maybe Henny is more like Gore or Smith? Needs to take better care of himself than Zeke, less Like Zeke, more like AP.

A 29 year old Running back entering his 8th season = a 40 year old NFL player at other positions. I just don't get that you don't get that by now.

It's not an exact formula but directionally accurate...he has 166 less carries than zeke over the same period so its fair to say he's on the other side of the hill...

However, his running style and the hits he have taken must all be accounted for, plus no two bodies are the same.

Looking at how he played last year, a couple year deal that makes sense financially would be fantastic.

If Elliott plays a game in September he will do so at age 28.2.
Henry will do so at age 29.7

Time for new wheels, people. And the draft features a deep class.

I'm not saying it isnt time for someone fresh, but I am saying totally discounting Henry bc of his age is a bad generalization to make given his level of play. If he could be had at a very reasonable deal I have no issue

Say Henry is cut or maybe could be had for cheap with Tenn on the hook for a big part of his salary like the Cooks deal…..would you?
No.

What I would do. Is look into Ekeler's demands. He has minimal wear and tear as a RB and if we can bring him in for 3 years. It would probably cost a 3rd. Maybe a conditional 3rd. Hes a proven commodity. And would make Pollard expendable.

Or. Draft a RB.
