Would you sign Derrick Henry if he is released?

If you guys wouldn’t do a 1 year deal then you’re basically Stephen Jones.

This would be a no brained and allow us to take playoff games out of Dak’s hands instead of asking him to be something he is not.
If we were 1 or 2 players shy of having a Superbowl Calibur team, I would wholeheartedly agree with you but we're not. We have too many starters that would be second or third stringers if they were on another team.

Lol yes we are. Nearly every team is 1 or 2 players away and the fact you can’t see the Cowboys are close means you pay way too much attention to our team and ignore other teams.

We were a final 4 NFC team. Of course we’re close.

If this isn't considered close right now, then it's never going to happen for some people. They're knocking on the door and it's time to step in .. This is a very good roster.

People think it’s 1995.

Like every roster in the NFL is an elite QB from being a Super Bowl contender. That goes for the worst team in football.

He’d have to be cheap… and he likely won’t be, so no.

There are rookies in this year’s draft that will be very good in conjunction with Pollard.
I’d be more worried about the length of the contract.

For 1 year and a go all in move he’s worth 16-19 million for this particular franchise.

He would make us incredible but when this guy falls off it’s going to be a major drop off.

You're proposing paying a fnking running back $16-$19M of cap space and then out the other side of your mouth youre the one saying others think it's 1995 back with no hard cap? LLMMMFFAAAOOOO

No way I get anywhere near that. He’s no longer worth it.

i would do for a 1 year deal after the draft if we miss out on our RB targets. He would be backing up Pollard and we would never be stopped at goal line or on 4th and short.
Pollard should remain as a situational RB. He has never been the type of RB that could carry the load as a full time starter. The only exception should be if they don’t plan on him being with the team long-term. If that’s the case, run him until the wheels fall off.

A 29 year old Running back entering his 8th season = a 40 year old NFL player at other positions. I just don't get that you don't get that by now.
Stop being fixated on age and look at production...............the world is not binary my friend, everything is not either black or white................things do exist in shades of grey.

I know you are smart enough to know that my friend, Henry is an exception to the rule.

Don't like trying to make big exceptions when it comes to Father Time. He takes all, no exceptions. Data on running backs is overwhelming when plotted across age. Yes, there are some who bend the arc a bit more. Henry could afford to lose a step and still be fast. Soon he'll wake up and have lost another step. Just don't like those kinds of bets.

Was reading this week that many GMs now just lock it in with their plans: When they grab a RB they plan on letting him at the end of rookie salary.

RBs they are targeting in the draft suggest they want pollard to carry the load of the rushing snaps. They are looking for power runners to use on short yardage situations like they did with Zeke this past season.

Oh I agree as a general rule that you should not resign running backs to large contracts, however there are some players that are just extraordinary, and Henry is one of them.

Have you seen his workout videos he posts in the offseason? The dude trains like a mad man, he will be squatting 500 pounds while having another 150 pounds of super-sized dog chains around his neck. That is not your average player, virtually nobody trains like that in the offseason, dam sure not Zeke.

That is why I say that no rule can be absolute, there are always going to be players who are exceptions and how many 29 yr old RBs put up over 1500 yds with a USFL caliber offensive line? Yes Henry will eventually start to decline, but it may be several years before that happens the way he takes care of himself and if there was a chance for us to get him for one or two seasons I would be all for it.

Does this look like a guy that is washed?

No.

What I would do. Is look into Ekeler's demands. He has minimal wear and tear as a RB and if we can bring him in for 3 years. It would probably cost a 3rd. Maybe a conditional 3rd. Hes a proven commodity. And would make Pollard expendable.

Or. Draft a RB.
The issue, as Ekeler is learning firsthand, is that he'll turn 28 in May and will be a 29-year-old free agent in a league where running back values continue to devalue almost daily.

There are few backs better than him in the league.
