Here's who I'd take over Romo: (not in order)

Kap, Wilson, Dalton, Luck.

Because of their age, I would not take Brees, Rodgers, either Manning, Brady, etc. I want a young up and comer ... no one from the over the hill gang.

Aaron Rodgers is too old and over the hill?

Guys, when Romo is done, we are all going to see how bad this franchise really is run. Kind of reminds me of the saying:

We, the (un)willing (Romo), led by the unknowing (Take your pick inside the Front Office or Coaching Staff), are doing the impossible for the ungrateful (Fans). We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.

I agree with the bolded.

I do think that with the line finally starting to come together and young receievers learning how to run routes, a new QB could step in now and have it much better (on the offensive side of the ball) than what Tony has had to deal with for the last few years. Now propping up this last place defense, well, that is another topic altogether.

Yes, the franchise is run poorly but there is certainly life after Romo. Luck took a 2-14 team to the playoffs, and then did it again the next year. I think it is laughable when fans act like we are screwed once Romo leaves. Hell his back up looked just as good if not better than him in our last game. We can certainly find a talented QB in the draft.

I would take JaMarcus Russell over Geno Smith! Geno won't be a starting QB next year. That dude is TERRIBLE!

I never said there is no life after Romo and don't count me in the camp that does. My point was that Romo covers up many of the warts and wrinkles the Cowboys have been sporting for the last 4-5 years. In addition, there is nothing the Cowboys' front office has done WRT to finding franchise QB talent to have me all that excited. If you are, great; just don't count me in that camp either.

You don't have to say it.
That guy will use any platform to spout off his generally clueless garbage. (As if Andrew Lucks just come around annually and that he was the sole reason they improved their recoprd, and that Orton would be as good as Romo...good grief)

I do agree that there would certainly be life after Romo though. He's only one player, albeit a very good one.

Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Luck(potential), maybe Stafford...

Don't get the love for Ryan at all since he really hasn't accomplished more than Romo and just had one of the most disappointing seasons as far as expectations go.

Not touching Russell or Kaepernick unless their defenses are included in the trade.

I'd rather trade for Seattle's defense and a HC who knows how to develop a decent game plan and stick with it and knows how to manage a football game week after week.

I think it's funny that you cite an injury waiting to happen as one of your reasons to choose Romo over RG3 after seeing how the year played out for both. Diva absolutely and I credit you for that observation but RG3 has shown plenty of toughness and I unfortunately see every one of Washington's games living in Maryland and dating a hard core Washington fan. RG3 is already a good QB and has about 10 more years to reach Romo's level which is probably 8-9 years more than enough. I love Romo and support the hell out of him but that love does not blind me to the truth about RG3. He is good and has a chance to be super.

I'm sure all those guys would have loved to have a crack at it with the supporting cast Tony has had for much of his career. Few QBs get to play with elite freakish WRs, Tony went from TO to Dez ( and has had a HOF TE to throw to his entire career. And outside of 2010-12, his OL has been one of the better units in the league. Outside of Matt Ryan, none of those other guys have had anything close to the weapons and supporting cast Tony has always had access to.

Let's see how this back injury plays out. Tony may have zero trade value.

But the hypothetical stuff is fun.

I know. shameful, deplorable, unacceptable...... damn hot though. At least we share a similar misery year after year. She actually is jealous of my team because she thinks we are a functional team. LOFL

She does marvel how fantastically we win and lose with the most incredible plays and finishes.

If 22 players start, you just mentioned two WR and TE that have been consistently good. Yeah, that ought to do it.
The few years there has been an ok defense and/or line, the team did make the the playoffs. What is astounding is that they were remotely in the race the other years.

Anyway, regardless of who has been on the offense, they've always ranked very highly in the league.
