Would you want Dak resigned at Discount rate or let him walk/trade?

Romo had a lot more turnovers than Dak, especially untimely turnovers. The teams under Dak choke especially the defense.
Dak has played worse in the playoffs by far, he has had 1 great game, other then that meh, with some absolutely horrible games. If Crayton catches a great throw they beat the Super Bowl Champion Giants.

The team does.

But Jerry doesn't. Say what you will about him, he doesn't like losing any more than anybody else on this site does.
I don't believe it's about winning or losing. Jerry and really mostly Stephen just want the team to make the playoffs and stay relevant. I believe Jerry would like to win but only within a very specific framework of roster building. He's not willing to be terrible 1 year to spurr a rebuild. Jerry used to make some dumb mistakes trying to win, big trades etc. But now they do just enough to sell hope/hype and then flop when it counts.

I’m not about to waste my time all day arguing opinions on Romo and Dak in the playoffs with Dak haters. They both had their issues in the playoffs primarily because of the teams/defenses they had. They both had defenses that sucked in the playoffs. It put a lot of pressure on both of them.

I'm far from a Dak hater.

Just to answer the question. Discount. It's hard to find talent in the NFL especially quarterback talent. I'm not saying Dak is elite, he's not the guy that pulls the rest of the team with him, but he is a guy that can be part of the formula. And for that formula to work he has to come at a discount price. He has to have that offensive line and running game. He needs Rookie Zeke and last year's Tony Pollard and this year's CeeDee. And that's just on one side of the ball. So if Dak is serious about really wanting to win a championship, he will work out a deal that gives a lot of thought to his supporting cast.
The only way Dak ever wins here is if we get a really, really good coach. And we won't, so he won't.

Yet his decisions contradict the above statement given he handed out the big contract to Prescott and he will do so again when he's clearly not up to it.

When someone says Dak has played far worse in the playoffs than Romo it makes them look like a Dak hater because their playoff performances have been pretty close. Romo didn’t play very well against Seattle in 06. He completed less than 60% and had less than 200 yards and only one TD. The game was lost when he bobbled a snap on a FG attempt. He didn’t play well in 07 against the Giants. He only completed 50% of his passes and threw an INT with the game on the line. It wasn’t all his fault but he didn’t get it done. He was horrible against Minnesota in the playoffs in 09. He had 3 turnovers in that game. Both Dak and Romo have had issues in the playoffs. However, the biggest issue have been the teams around them. It’s not like the teams played great but the QB failed. That’s never been the case.

If some of you think shuffling QBs trying to find one and missing the playoffs every year is better than what we’ve experienced the last 3 seasons you’re sadly mistaken.
It's better to try with another QB than massively overpay Dak (and cripple the team) and still not win any playoff games. Extending Dak leads exactly to where we've been.

Problem is if the other QB isn’t the answer you could end up in QB hell for years. You risk sitting home for the playoffs every year and that’s even worse than going one and done in the playoffs. You might not think so but I’ve experienced it with the Cowboys twice and it’s painful. You end up using draft picks to find a QB that could be used on other positions. You end up making desperate moves like Carolina that could blow up in your face. They should have just stayed with Mayfield but they moved on and traded the farm for a QB and picked the wrong one. Now look at the crap shape they’re in. They could’ve had the number one overall pick and been in position for looks to be a lot better QB than what they ended up with.

I'd take Minshew for 10 over Dak for 50.

Why get rid of him? It's not his fault that WR's didn't get open, no run game EVER, defense suck, dropped passes, bad coaches... for 8 years!

Funny though how many of these factors have been different people people over the last 8 years.... never saw anything like the bad luck Thad's brother has had.

A rough period could be a decade or more. Some of you think QBs capable of winning SB’s grow on trees. We don’t have a team capable of winning a Super Bowl. Our biggest problem isn’t at QB.
What would you call the last decade? Serious question.

The post you quoted I said “a rough period could be a decade or more.” A decade is 10 years. Teams like Washington and the Jets have been looking for a franchise QB much longer than that.
