Highest paid safety in the NFL. He will never see one-third of that money. He got ~10M guaranteed. His base salaries the first three years are under 4M combined. After that he will be released or restructured. Get a clue.

OK....then how do you know the Davis contract isn't structured in a way that benefits us?

How about you see what the contracts like first before spouting off?

Oh yeah, how's TJ Duckett doing?

You guys do realize that this was written by a Washington Post beat reporter who, in no way, drinks the Kool Aid that comes out of Commander Park, don't you?
PFT rumored yesterday that Davis was looking for 23m guaranteed. So Davis getting $20m was a reality in my book regardless of what the writer is saying in the article. Just a matter of whether Dallas wanted to do the deal or not.

I'm very interested in the contract breakdowns for all these guard contracts. Some outrageous numbers for guys who aren't Hutch-like. Cost of doing business these days.

NO Guard with worth 20M guaranteed!

If that was market value, so be it. But the market was a sellers' one this year, and a few average players really benefited.

This particular weekend of FA is going to change the face of the NFL, I'm afraid. Things will never be the same.
The face of the NFL changed 14 years ago. Things 'haven't been the same' since then. Are you saying that you're stunned by what you're seeing this weekend? Please. The networks will continue to pump billions into the league. The salary cap will continue to balloon. If this weekend has been an eye opener, stay tuned. The NFL will eventually see NBA/Shaq type $$$ contracts. It's only a matter of time.

i understand the contract, it doesnt change the fact that the only time he played was to cover punts!

And you cant get out of that contract right now so it is prohibitive to your organization.

As overated and lazy as davis is, and I dont want him here, I have no doubt he can handle those average tackles you have inside and the other bad deal you made last year at end in carter. he can handle all of them.

so your gloating is comical to me. I dont like the davis deal, dont want him here either but coming from skins fans, you should just stay in your glass house and hang on to your stones

Davis will be the RG, mark my words. Also, he told the DC media he prefers to play guard.

When he is mauling people from his RG spot and opening hugh holes for JJ and Barber, especially near the goalline, it will look like money well spent.

Nothing else needs to be said. However, I am sure the detractors will continue to pound sand. You just can't make everyone happy. I, for one, will be glad to see him mashing at Guard this season. In a day where players often get jerked out of getting the promised "backloaded" money it doesn't surprise me that some players have played hardball with these teams and won in FA this offseason.

I have one simple question? Why do Foreskin fans care who we signed and what we paid them? Why? Because they know they're gonna be our little **tches for a long, long time. If they weren't worried about us, why would they be here and why would they care?

that jason laconfora is tool.

Actually I've been reading his stuff for awhile and he's one of the best team reporters I've seen in the NFL. Almost all of his information that he gets from his sources is spot on and he doesn't have an agenda against his team or isn't some lapdog either (which is prominent in Commanders land).

The only thing the skins drove was Davis to a meal and to meet the coaches.

He was going to get that type of money even if he never left VR.

It is the market now and although it sucks...it is what it is.

Further more there is no way in hades a skins fan has any ability to come here with a straight face and talk about overpaying for a player when they have done it for years.

10 mill in guaranteed money for a ST player in Adam Arch?

Best advice for the skins fans talking about overpaying for Davis...open your mouth, insert your foot so you don't open your mouth and let other foolish stuff fall out of it.

yeah well during the season he is one of the lowest class writers around. Every article about other teams is about belittling players and there careers.

He wrote some stuff about bledsoe last year that was ridiculous and no one ever called him on it. I am tired of that type of stuff, write about the game and the league, no need to try and break every player down the way he does.

I will give him credit for at least staying up to date and writing during a critical time. The dmn guys are all probably at church or doing other things....we dont have any info on this signing right now from them at all....

but laconfora is a tool.

Those have been the funniest posts I've read today.

Especially MB's - "Extending popular, home-grown performers would be a better use, in my opinion."

When his team has never used that philosophy. Which popular, home-grown performers have they kept?

I would counter that Davis' value as a guard far outweighs Smoot's value as a cornerback by comparison.

Yes that extending home players line killed me.

They have let player after player walk from the skins to bring in other FAs.

If anything we have done a pretty good job signing our players back like James, Williams, Witten and were, maybe still are, trying to sign Colombo and Grammatica.

thats not the point. I wasn't trying to bash anything with that post.

Point being, teams care about what their rivals are doing. When you compete against someone, it is only natrual to know what they are doing. So to try and turn it around ( like the previous poster did) is just silly
