WR Seems to be the Likely/necessary choice at 12

AND GO INTO CAP HELL??????????
We've seen teams like the Rams and Eagles DESTROYED for years due to using Free agency! All they've gotten was some superbowl ring. But are they the #1 Team in the world? NOPE.
It's not sustainable having a GM that is more aggressive than a dead slug.
We've been around the rim for decades. One year it'll go in, or something.

This team has a lot of holes, that could use some help at #12, if you're not wearing Hopium glasses.
WR, Corner, DT, Edge, OL, hell could even include RB even though I'm against a RB in the first.
JaVonte Williams and Miles Sanders as the 1-2. Woof.
Well it actually needs to be WR in first round and RB in second.... Miles won't even make the team and Javonte well be a third down blocker/receiving RB

I wouldn't draft a WR before the 5th round, if at all, honestly. The entire draft, minus a RB, needs to be defense. CB, LB, Edge, DT. All are needs. Between Tolbert, Mingo, the Paris kid and they one they drafted last year, we can make due at WR if the QB can make decent throws and doesn't need 20 yards of seperation to get the ball in there.

Just posted this in the draft section, but how about if Steelers look to trade up to 12 for QB

Dallas gets - 21, George Pickens and 123 (4th rd)
Steelers get - 12

I think it's like 5 of us on here that actually believe this to be true. I'd say if it didn't work put then make a trade mid-season like the amari cooper trade years ago. Dumping resources into a position pretending that's the way you help dak isn't smart but........whatever

Yeah I've been expecting WR since we didn't go that way in FA.

I think Tet is the choice, but wonder if we'd take Golden with Tet off the board, or consider Tyler Warren as our #2 target.

All of this is assuming Jeanty is gone.
These are exactly the thoughts I've had lately. Tet/Golden probably, but just how high on their board is Warren? That is a question.

next question I have is how likely CB will be the 2nd rounder. And if a slight trade down can facilitate still getting a CB, plus having a 4th rounder for adding DT/RB in 3rd/4th or vice versa.

I know it all depends on what drops to 12, but just going by the simulators.

A lot of very good WR's in this draft. I would rather they trade down into the late teens-early 20s range, pick up a 3rd round pick (to make up for having no 4th) and take a receiver there. In other words, if a WR is not the best player available at 12, don't draft one just because they need one.

Also wouldn't mind moving down in the 2nd round to pick up a 4th. Then they will have 12 picks (a 1, a 2, two 3s, a 4, two 5s, two 6s, and three 7s.) Can fill a lot of needs there instead of just reaching on a Matthew Golden or Emeka Egbuka.

This team can't go wrong by picking any position with the 1st Pick, but WR seems to be position we are most desperate at filling.
Cee Dee is the only legit receiver we have and we don't even have a #2 on the roster.
We have people we can elevate to 2 but they are 3/4 at best.
We for sure could use a Safety, CB, DE, OL, or DL but the need of finding a complement to Lamb is vital.
The Cowboys should have their pick of the top WR's at 12 and might be able to trade down a few spots and still grab one.
If we wait until the 2nd, we will likely be selecting a #2 at best as opposed to selecting a legit 1/2 at pick 12.
Probably, but if it is, I'd like to see them trade down if it's not McMillan.

Still would like to see them draft Warren at 12, a WR at 44 and a RB at 76 or even later.

That just makes more sense if they're not trading down. Maybe pick up a DT at 76 and wait till the 5th for your RBs.

Extra picks are nice too though.

If we don't take a RB before receiver, that will tell you that Jerral and Schotty were lying about run game focus.

Which of course they were.
There is only one RB that is 1st round worthy and he might be gone in the first ten but there are plenty of really talented RBs sprinkled throughout the draft.

Lots of good DTs and RBs this draft.
That is the positional strength of this year's draft imo.
I think the Cowboys could improve best by going DT in RD1 and RB in RD2.

Should have gotten/still get a WR2 through free agency.
Just my opinion.

Yeah. This team is thin at every position. You can make the argument that they should go BPA no matter the position.

TE? Shoot, I’d be thrilled if they took Warren. This team needs playmakers pretty much everywhere.
Warren is my #1 target, then McMillan. After those two, just get me the best player.

I have a philosophical problem with using the 12th pick on a guy like Golden. Yes, we could use an upgrade at WR, but are we really talking about using the 12th pick in the draft on a #2 WR, especially considering the holes we have and the fact we don't use FA wisely?

Although if you put a gun to my head I'd assume we'd go WR and then RB or RB and then WR. Because that's so Jerry Jones.

No, it's not wrong.
By the time we get to 12, the TOP player at DLine will likely be gone.
Mason Graham is the only consensus DL worthy of a TOP 15 Pick, all the rest are rated as late 1st round prospects.
If we go there, we will be reaching and overdrafting.
With WR, the TOP players will likely be available at 12. Hunter will be gone by then but all the other Top ranks should be there.
By going WR at 12 you not only fill a need but you are doing so by not reaching.
 I like it, but watch them reach to fill a position and then wait to hear fans complaining next off-season about the bum they took in the first round.

I like the trade back talk but this year will be tough to find a partner. Super top tier draft talent is not deep so similarly graded players can be found from the early teens thru the mid 20’s.

I'm coming around to it too.

There are around 12 to 15 1st round graded players. If a team wants one they likely will need to move up into that area. Especially if there is a particular player or position that they have a need for.

After those 12 to 15 are off the board then there are a more than 30+ players with 2nd round grades.
