Not a single punt or kickoff return for a TD either during the regular season or playoffs.

Yeah, diddly squat...exactly!

I bet if given the opportunity, rookie Deuce Vaughn will return at least 1 punt or kickoff for a TD. I hope it happens. Hate using a roster spot for a preseason wonder who contributed absolutely nothing on Offense, nor returned a single punt or kickoff for a TD after being given kickoff and punt return duties full-time all season long.

Yet U see several upon several big break out run backs from Turpin that change the field of position, .got us in plus territory of the opponents side of the field
.and you keep harping on a new rookie (Deuce) that has Never even returned punts and then talkin' about " hope" and if it's him he;s takingit to the house ....blah blh

what I really think is hatin' on Turpin and hoping he's gone, is not your original thought, ..but there's been so many fans and posters that will piggy back ride on the minus band wagon
because they feel like they need to belong to the hatery group... they don't even sound logical.

I understand being excited over Turpin. He has pretty good potential at returning kicks and punts. Too bad he never returned one for a TD during the regular season or playoffs. For Turpin supposedly having a personally timed 4.31 40 time, it sure didn't translate to his fastest max speed of only 20.98 mph. At 4.31 40 speed, his max speed (mph) should be higher. That tells me his 4.31 is not legit. He's probably in the 4.4s.

Meanwhile, Deuce Vaughn was timed with a max speed of 22 mph during Week 9 during college last season vs Oklahoma State. Deuce didn't run at the NFL Combine but did run just once at his Pro Day due to having an ear/throat infection and having fever. Everyone there timed his one 40 yard dash run at under 4.5, all times somewhere in the 4.4s. His personal trainer clocked him at 4.46 seconds during that 1 run. Not bad for being sick. Still, for Deuce being clocked at 22 mph, it means he's got legit top end speed.

Check out these few segments written in the Sports Illustrated article from May 8, 2023:

“All you got to do is put on the tape and watch the kid play to let you know that he belonged and he belongs in the NFL,” McClay said. “He deserved to get picked and we had the opportunity to pick the value that was good for us and it was the best football player on the board.”

Enter Reel Athletics. It's a sports tech and data company that analyzes video to measure athleticism so coaches and scouts can evaluate talent more accurately.

Vaughn’s score of 96.7 is the best among all Cowboys drafted players, and was third among running backs, behind only Bijan Robinson (98.3) and Tank Bigsby (97.2), who were drafted in the first and third rounds.

Even more impressive is Vaughn's position at four spots ahead of Jahmyr Gibbs (92.1) who was drafted in the first round.

“Deuce Vaughn is unique in two ways,” said Chris Yates, founder of Reel Athletics via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “First, he has elite change of direction. His average change of direction time is under 0.3 seconds which is top one percent of 3,900 running backs in our database and the best in the 2023 draft class. Second, Vaughn has high-end breakaway speed. We clocked him at a max speed of nearly 22 mph in Week 9 vs Oklahoma State."

This is why I personally like Deuce's potential. It's legitimately proven against the toughest teams and biggest conferences in college football the past 3 years. Give me the player who can both return kicks & punts while being able to actually play and produce on Offense.

Not buying the hype…would MUCH rather go with a couple of the UDFA’s than keep wasting time with these JAGs.

WR's tend to be fragile around training camp and preseason games. There is always a couple of them banged up just before the regular season begins. When you get down to who will be #4, I think it will be whoever is left standing.

Who knows, it could be Brooks, our 7th rounder this season. itr could be Moreno-Cropper. All I know is that it's going to seem kind of weird if all three Jalens make the team.

Reports were he looked good last camp but looked so flat in real games. My hope is he takes the next step, that's my hope for all players wearing the star but some guys (Bobby Carpenter) are simply practice warriors and not cut out for the real games.
Exactly! Some guys look great even in regular season games. But stick em in the playoffs against SF in the crumble.

maybe the lights will come on late for him like Miles Austin but i am not holding my breath.there are intriguing guys on the roster who may make a bigger impact.

Carpenter lacked instincts, plain and simple.

Thing is, Feho was a project. It was always going to take him a while to acclimate to the NFL game.

Most players are projects. I'm just pointing out it was the coaches heaping all the praise on him last year then the same coaches couldn't get him going in real games.

Fehoko has always had a great profile for a WR. Speed, size and decent hands. He’s just never seemed to get the mental side of his game solidified. In year three, with an offense that is supposed to be less complicated maybe he emerges.

I don’t put a ton of stock into OTA reports and even to some degree training camp, where hype tends to run very deep. Especially with this organization. But we can certainly hope this is the year Fehoko emerges. It’s probably his last chance to prove he’s worth a roster spot.

Not in the football definition. A "project" is a player that has a long way to go to be ready to play in the NFL. Not all that many draftees are projects.
