Hey, relax! I'm not attacking you, far from it. No need to take the Lord's name in vain there.

Well, you'll hate the fact that the lord's name in vain doesn't apply to me whatsoever. Feathers officially ruffled in 5, 4, 3, 2....

More importantly, in someone like Heath's case. I want to see him win the spot with good consistent play and plays on the ball like he's been doing. He's come around lately, but one has to wonder why he didn't rise a bit quicker. So people have little to go on about him being the QB of the secondary. That's all.

Wilcox had one good year and it was this year. So the price was inflated. Heath got his contract last year did he not?

That's what truly encourages me, I think they all had their best years this year. Church, Carr, Claiborne, Wilcox, Heath, and even the rookie Brown was solid. And given that improvement happened across the board, I have great faith in this current coaching staff and their ability to coach up all of these rookies, and the remaining secondary guys like Jones, Scandrick, Carroll, and Heath as well.

And like I said, it was primarily based on his special teams play, not his safety play.

That's a good guess, but I think that's all that it is.

I agree on some of the questions - they make you cringe.

But then there are other questions that I simply had no clue on. I always struggled with math story problems and there are always a few of them in the test. The key is to immediately answer the ones you know then go back and try to figure the rest out. Depending on your strength and weaknesses, you'll know which ones to completely avoid. The hardest part, to be honest, is the time restraint.

You should take it and see how you do. It's interesting.

Yeah you have to be able to tell the difference between a 2, a 10, and a 39. You cannot ask them all linear algebra. The difference between a 2 and a 9 may be simple arithmetic.

Sure. So the reasoned opinion would be it'll be interesting if the positive play Heath has demonstrated in a limited role can translate to a larger role. Verses "man hope that trash that is Heath doesn't make it onto the field." Especially when you hear the coaches are high on him. Just reeks of preconceived notions.

All I ever wanted was options in case he can't. I believe we have them with Awusie, Woods and the veteran Blanton. Now, we don't know how any of them will play, but I think the odds are in our favor of finding one guy who can be at least as good as Church among those four. Who knows, I didn't list Frazier among them, but he might even be the one to emerge.

I typically would agree about the draft, but most of these guys are heralded picks. And the film looks great on many of them. I think most were solid picks. I dont think anyone was claiming that Watkins was the steal of the draft when he was picked.

They were. Fans were calling on us to take him as early as the second round and couldn't believe we got him in the fifth. Some thought he was the only "steal" we got. I know this because I try to not get too high or too low about any draft pick until we see them play in the league. To me, it's silly to get your hopes up too high when player who seem like sure bets fail every year for various reasons.

Statistics show that you find two starters in most draft, three if you're lucky, and two to three contributors. Last year was far from the norm for Dallas, but that doesn't mean this year will be. I like that we hedged our bets in the secondary by taking four players, including two in the first three rounds. I would have liked for us to have hedged our bets some at end by taking one or more in addition to Charlton with one of those last few picks.

His INT was nice and all, in that he laid out to dive, but in all honesty it was an awful throw by Rodgers and he was late. The CB was burnt really bad and that should have been an easy TD.

And how many safeties drop that int? :facepalm:

X is very smart. A 39 on the Wonderlic is the very, very top end of the curve.

Louisiana Tech is good school, Tier One according to all of the rankings. If he could stay at home and have his family able to see him play, why not? One thing to say for X, he has always won and brings a winning attitude. At West Monroe High School he won a State Title and I think only lost a few games in four years. At La Tech he won three bowl games and over 32 games total. Now he brings his winning attitude to Dallas.

The Wonderlic scoring is 1-50. A 39 is blow the 80% mark. That said, most score in the middle so his score is on the higher end of the bell curve.

I'm sorry, but you obviously do not understand statistics. A 39 is in the 98th percentile of all test takers.

He did what you need to do when a QB like AR makes a mistake. Make him pay for it.

I'm sure Xavier was a bright guy coming out of HS.

There are hundreds of colleges and universities, so La Tech's #202 rank is not terrible

fwiw and some useless trivia here
The massive football revenue for Power 5 confences has started to carry over to academics...even the SEC is rising. lol

Here are the average academic ranks per conference for national universities
ACC = 59
Big 10 = 61
Pac 10 = 81
SEC = 102
Big 12 = 119

You do realize I acknowledged the catch as nice right? But what does that have to do with anything? It doesn't say much about his overall safety play, which one would have to look at his body of work over three years.

GB got the coverage they wanted, but Rodgers made a horribly bad throw..

That makes sense to me. There have been studies showing that, after a successful year of athletics, applications rise during the next academic year. When Florida Gulf Coast had their Elite 8 basketball run a few years back they experienced something like an 80% rise in apps.

His body of work suggests he's a player that gets better every year and that he's the only secondary player that gets turnovers. Ok? Why didn't he start over Wilcox? That's like asking why Leary didn't start over Collins. Because the coaches said so.

I've never seen so much hype surrounding a 6th round player.
